September 21, 20223 yr Hi Members. To update on my above post, I ended up booking my inverter in to Sunsynk in JHB on 16 August 2022. I received a call on 19 September that they had looked at the inverter and would like to know which noise I am complaining about. Explained the whole situation to them and was told the inverter is not faulty and that I have super sensitive hearing. I have received a managers email address which I escalated the matter to further. Waiting on further response now from him. Due to frequent load shedding and the long wait time I bought a Growatt 5kw inverter as a stop gap. This emits no noise from my devices in the house at all but lacks the additional features the Sunsynk has that I would like to make use of again. These images show the Sunsynk noise at 15000Hz from my computer screen vs the Growatt which shows no noise.
September 21, 20223 yr I also have sensitive hearing.. Lucky then that I ended up with a voltronic inverter, prior to finding out from these forums that sunsynk is better Edited September 21, 20223 yr by Hansa

An good inverter should not be switching at an audible frequency. I know I would also be very unhappy about 15kHz being broadcast all over my house.
September 21, 20223 yr Does all the Sunsynk inverters have this issue and only some people notice it, or does only some inverters have this issue? Is this noise at 15khz throughout house also an issue on the newer ones, i,e, the ones being sold now?

I have a friend who just bought an 8kw Sunsynk so i wil go check out if i can hear it when he has it installed.
September 21, 20223 yr Mine was purchased in July this year. Immediately contacted Sunsynk about checking it out and ended up booking it in with them. There are some posts in this thread where someone got a replacement unit that was quiet as well as someone who bought two where one made the noise and one didn't. So it seems like not all of them have the problem then. I will be taking my PC and screen to a friends house to test it on his 5kw Sunsynk as well. I can actually hear the high frequency buzz in this video as well. Thought it would be fine if the inverter makes the noise, never figured it would push it out of devices connected in the house at all.
September 21, 20223 yr Could it be that the electrical wiring of certain houses makes it more susceptible to this high pitch noise being transmitted throughout the house vs only the inverter making the noise?

Yup the sound in that video sounds exactly like my computers power supply. I think this is probably a much larger problem that what sunsynk will admit.
October 19, 20223 yr Hi folks Had a 5kw Sunsynk installed today and I've noticed the high pitch noise from the inverter, in grid as well as in battery mode. Quite irritating. Any new ideas? Tx
October 20, 20223 yr Hi All I have received my Inverter back from Sunsynk, they replaced the motherboard. Still the same noise, it might be slightly quieter in general. I still cannot keep my PC or its screen plugged in to power without wearing my over ear headset, otherwise the noise drives me mad. I am making a video for Sunsynk/Deye so they can see what I am experiencing, if anyone can also capture this on footage and possibly share a youtube link of it with me so we can send more data in to them that would help. I am able to pick up the noise on a Sound Spectrum app on my phone as well so I will use that to also illustrate the noise. I see they are also aware that this interferes with peoples prepaid meters communicating across the power lines.
October 20, 20223 yr @DiSiNTiGR8 if you willing to through some extra money at the problem. You could try purchase one of these https://www.digikey.co.za/en/products/detail/schaffner-emc-inc/FN2412-45-33/1928942 https://www.digikey.co.za/en/products/detail/epcos-tdk-electronics/B84112G0000G136/1243571 They seem to have 10 to 15dB attenuation at 15khz - which is the noise the Sunsynk is generating.
October 20, 20223 yr I can hear the noise from my 5KW as well, but it soft. Could just be my hearing... Here are some spectrum captures to show it from my mobile: - One right next to the inverter - One In a bathroom with door closed (silent for baseline) - One in the my office with my laptop and Monitor I feel like I can hear the noise even if very soft but I could just be paranoid now. October 20, 20223 yr I have found that devices with the Power brick type PSU like a laptop or a screen with external power supply don't produce the noise. My PC and high refresh rate Dell screen (built in PSU) make the noise the loudest and are really the only things I would not be able to get used to. The Neon tube lights in the Garage also emit the noise very loud. I can just replace those with LED so that would be fine. The rest of the house is quiet enough that I only hear it when walking past the TV's or the original DB board of the house which is weird as its only breakers in there and earth leakage, yet they also emit the noise. I am really hoping that they can change this 15000Hz frequency in the inverter firmware to something higher which would remove the issue for everyone that is able to hear it. Hopefully the components can switch at a different frequency and they can do it.
October 20, 20223 yr I don't think it can be changed. It's on all the sunsynks (at least the 5kw). It just seems to vary in amplitude depending on the unit people have. I can hear mine throughout my house. Below is about 30cm away from my DB (which is about 15m away from my inverter). Similar noise near my inverter. Other appliances (toaster etc.) also emit this noise.
October 21, 20223 yr I must be one of the lucky (or deaf) ones. Our 5kw unit was installed last week in the garage. Only faint high pitched noise on unit itself when close, but nothing I can hear from electronics or DB inside the house.
November 14, 20223 yr On 2021/02/27 at 11:26 PM, branderplank said: Also had this when I initially commissioned mine. With the cover plate on it was less annoying. At some point I had switched off the inverter completely and disconnected the batteries. When I turned on everything again, the pitch was really bad. After a few days I decided to just switch it off with the power button underneath the inverter - did not switch off anything. When I switched it back on, the pitch was virtually gone (it is there but really really faint only audible when I get your ears in really close). Not a technical solution but just what I experienced. Vassen mentioned that it was worse with a certain firmware upgrade and then improved thereafter again... Hi had the same sound and switching it off underneath the inverter after reading your com above sorted the problem. Thank you
December 13, 20223 yr Just got my inverter installed today, and it too has this noise. My firmware version (if it matters) is e424 MCU:3374. It's pretty terrible, and I actually also experienced it at someone else's house and I actually thought it was my power supply in my desktop. Luckily, I think I can down out the noise a little by putting on headphones. But yeah, it's bloody annoying. I wish I had known this before committing so much money.

Unfortunately the exact same experience as me. Cannot use my Desktop PC anymore without a headset on. Very annoying. My Inverter was at Sunsynk, they replaced the motherboard and the issue remains. I have tried escalating and have since received an email from Deye where I sent them video footage of what is going on. They have supposedly sent some filters to Keith now which should be sent to me at some stage. Hope that these arrive and actually make a difference. I went and tested my screen at a friends house with the 8kw Sunsynk inverter and there was no noise at all. His house also does not have the noise coming from any other components like I am experiencing. Even my original DB board is emitting the noise and the neon lights in the garage emit it really loud as well.
December 14, 20223 yr Have the same high pitched noise on a 16kw as well. Fortunately it's a business premises and is located in a stairwell, but definitely wouldn't manage it inside a home

That is not the problem for me, the problem is other stuff connected to the power in the house is emitting the noise. The inverter itself doesn't bother me at all. I walk past a TV or the DB board of the house or work in the garage then I hear the buzzing at 15000Hz.

December 14, 20223 yr Great thread and notes sharing. All this is now making me think of holding out on the Sunsynk inverter, which is sad. The Chinese clones are not as good but seem to have these noise issues sorted, funny enough. So I think I may hold on to my Chinese knock-off for a wee bit longer. Anyone experiencing these same issues on a 3.6Kw Sunsynk?
