  1. Another HexingSA 30kW 3 phase HV ESS installation to support their meter factory operations. I have installed the 1st one & based on this they requested another Installation of the same machine type. They are powering their factory operations in 30kW scaled segments. A very Impressive machine and all in 1 unit. Commercial properties & businesses need this type of scale of power urgently. We specialise in Residential solar projects but 2023 has seen such a high demand for commercial work & this energy level is one of many industrial scale solutions. In fact from 20kW all the way up to 500kW is possible. These businesses rely on production & Eskom cannot mee…

  2. Hi there, Corneel here, this is my second post but here is my first installation. I am a mining engineer doing mining finance at a bank - no formal electrical training apart from 1 semester at varsity 25 years ago... And a one-day solar overview course a few years ago. I only got my installation's CoC this morning so I did not want to post my installation in case I made a mess! At least I have not seen any smoke yet! 😂 The main DB is around the corner in the garage. I do woodwork there and I did not want to put the Inverter and battery in such a dusty environment, hence the installation in the passageway. Comments are welcome! …

  3. We were called to clean up an installation, some fly by night installer blew up 1 x Lux power unit, and left the other standing. We found some shocking things: 1. No Surge Protection 2. No PV DB, no fuses, do DC SPD 3. No Battery Isolator 4. AC Breakers were being used on customers PV String, two suppose to come down one was left in the roof for Santa Clause 5. They wired the luxpower directly to the DB with no input/output breakers or changeover 6. They somehow thought that the PV strings must also be wired directly to the battery. 7. In correct cabling being used every where 8. Tobo batteries - BMS does not work with Luxpower …

Mother in law has been having major power issues and recently (the last 5 days) the area has had 3 8+hr outages - today's one started at 4am and is still out. She works from home moderating papers and marking exams so a proper backup system was needed. Powerguru were running a "black friday" special and we managed to get: 1x Luxpower 5kw inverter 1x Shoto 5.12 kwh battery 7x 455W JA Solar panels Instillation ancillaries Installed for R98k. House is a 3bd 2 bath unit in a complex with a north facing roof. Installation started yesterday 9am and the backup system (inverter + batteries) was up and running by 1pm. She was covered when the p…

  7. Started by Nzwakele,

Good day I've recently installed 5Kw Lux power Off grid SNA inverter with 2 X 5 kwh FiveStar Luthium batteries connected parallelly. Everything seems to be working fine, however my concern is that the app shows the Batt Parallel Num :0 and Battery Capacity: 100 Ah. Shouldn't these read Batt Parallel Num :1 and Battery Capacity: 200 Ah?

Good evening all, Collected the first batch of equipment for my 10kva home installation. (2 x Victron Multiplus II 48/5000 & 1 x Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200) 2 x 14.3kwh Solar MD batteries and 28 x IBC 400W Solar panels to follow. Extremely excited about this journey. I'll try to post the progress, we start on Thursday, whoooo haaaa!

Kodak OG7.2 paired with the Livoltek BLF51-5 5.1kWh Lithium battery & 8 x 545W JA Solar Mono PV solar panels. The Slate roof on this project was great fun 🤪😂

  12. Single Phase 14.4kW Kodak Power Plant, 15.3kWh Lithium modular batteries & 10x Canadian Solar 545W Mono. Example of the Current & Load sharing from Grafana logging. Must admit Voltronics has really nailed when it comes to Parallel operations. 3 phase or Single phase, seemless.

After my introduction thread I decided to now finally make this post to update where I am with my install. This is a semi DIY install and the appropriate qualified persons will do final connections and inspections. Disclaimer: I appreciate advice from all with actual experience of Solar/Backup Installs. Keyboard warrior comments not welcome. If you don't like the way I'm doing something but it is not a health or safety concern, please hold it for yourself. Okay that out of the way. I live in a two storey house divided in two dwellings. I live upstairs and have the left yard and the roof whilst the bottom dwelling has the right yard with no roof mainte…

  14. Somewhat inspired by @RichardZA's post of his experience for the year I thought I'd share my own which is quite different. Firstly, my system: 8kw Sunsynk inverter 3x3.55kwh Pylontech US3000C for 10.65kwh total capacity which I cycle down to about 20% SOC minimum in order to have an emergency backup as they can go down to 5%. 20x Longi 445W panels for 8.9kwp potential facing due north on about 15° roof angle. There is a small technicality here that the one string is clipped at 20A from a potential 22A, but this only really comes into play for a couple of hours a day. My total system cost was about R165k installed. I did buy things individually and…

Hi guys, a continuation of the works I have carried out at the HexingSA factory also the home of Livoltek here in SA. This is an installation of the EV charger Range. The largest is the 30kW 3phase fast charger. The baby charger is a 7.3kW Single phase charger. Just to think in a decade or so these will be part of our homes & part of the Automotive industry locally. Still hard to wrap my head around it but with current oil & petrol prices it's maybe going to happen sooner than later. I will post a review of their High Voltage Commercial inverter soon. Will be commissioning this in a few days.

  17. Over a period of time, I have been asked to rectify a poor but very large installation. They initially had 60 X 350W Canadian Solar Poly PV Array. The installation was not compliant in anyway. P2000 channeling was used without mid or end clamps. The roof is definitely challenging due to its pitch that changes & in these circumstances an adjustable mounting bracket was the only suitable choice. Also being at the coast a quality Aluminium & stainless steel fabrication was again the best choice of materials. The previous Installer also had AC & DC wiring mixed into the same conduit & this needed addressing in the short term to gain compliance. We had to…

Sunsynk 5kw paired with 5kwh Greenrich. Battery backup solution

  19. Hi guys another addition to the Kodak/ Voltronics family of inverters. This is just a backup kit but panels & another 5.1kWh Lithium battery will be added in a few months. The great feature of the OG10.0 as well as the OG7.2 is the Battery current discharge limit. The Livoltek is a 1C discharge & 0.5C charge battery, so one needs to have these limits pre programmed. Lib battery Comms is also compatible between the Livoltek & the Kodak meaning you don't need to set these limits except the Discharge limit on the inverter. Main DB box split carried out also.

  20. Herewith my installation (purely UPS). Today, I wanted to separate DC and AC trucking. So, not fully complete yet. comments for improvements welcome! 5kw Sunsynk US3000 Pylontech (hoping to get a bigger battery or add more batteries at a later stage).

Hi all I just would like to share I recently done a back up power at home with a sunsynk 8kw inverter and a Hubble 5kw battery. I reached out to @Leshen who gave me advise throughout and did my install. If anyone is looking for full solar advise end to end this is the guy. I have added a pic of my current install and when I do save up some more. I will add panels to my set up. The job carried out was professional and very neatly done. thanks

16kw Sunsynk 32 x 455w panels in a grid tied setup. No batteries. Home never experiences loadshedding.

  23. Hi Guys Finally decided to go Sunsynk, being an installer I became tired of the growatt setup and it's limitations. Out with old and in with the new. Setup: 8kw Sunsynk supplied by and thanks @Leshen 16 X 545 Watt JA Mono panels, split on different side of the house 2 x BSL 7kw Batteries with cabinet. on the first day after install at 7:50am panels on East side were producing around 1100 watts numbers kept growing. As luck would have the past two days had some big clouds 😂 Feeding to non essential load I saw 6200watts from PV I am sure there is more but will see on a good day. BSLs went in today.... I must say this inve…

So my original system was a Mecer Axpert 5kw with a 2.4 Pylontech and 6x 270 watt Solar Panels. This system ran for a year, before another Pylontech battery was added. This helped us during loadshedding. Then after a year o really started doing my research on Solar systems. And then it started. Added 3 more panels, and then seemed a bit better, but this Mecer does not want to talk to anything, like my wife when she is unhappy about my Solar spending. Eventually decided that SunSynk 5kw system was the way to go, and this beauty of an inverter talks to batteries and has two mppt strings. So now current setup is as follows 1x SunSunk 5kw …
