Hi All, I am a bit concerned with my install. The installer mentioned that a DC breaker and pv breaker is not required as the Deye inverted has built in protection? Is this correct I looked at the documentation and they clearly mention the breakers. He has since received this money and probably won't come back to fix.

  2. Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum and I have just done my first back up installation. Initially my intentions was to do a back up installation just for loadshedding. But now I see that it will be a waste if I don't add solar panels to the system. I have installed 1xGrowatt SPF5000TL-HVM and 2x Pylontech US2000 2.4Kwh batteries. The plan is to add a second Inverter and at least 4 solar panels for now and increase the capacity when/if needed. I'm not a qualified Electrician nor an installer, but I have a solid Electrical engineering background. I'm not a specialist and I 'm new to solar installations, so I will be coming to you guys for some advice. I'm currently using 4m…

My system has been installed and started running the last couple of days. I have the following. 1 x 8kw Sunsynk Inverter 16 x 420w Canadian Solar Panels 2 x CBI Astutes (For geyser timers) Riot Cloudlink I still have my generator connection if needed with a change-over switch. We decided to leave the gen change-over instead of connecting it to the gen input on the inverter. Let the data logging begin.

  4. 50kw installed November last year, this now powers 60% of the Hydroponics farms total usage, we have an integrated generator controller installed to ensure minimal diesel usage during outages. Very happy customer.

In February 2020, I had a typical "load shedding beater" system installed, as I work from home and need a constant power supply and a steady internet connection. It consisted of the following: 1 x 24V Growatt 3kVA Inverter 2 x 200Ah lead acid batteries 3 x 330 Canadian Solar Panels 1 x Geyser plate with a Geyserwise control panel. The system was installed by a company that should most definitely be added on the no-go list and there were a lot of teething issues. Everything ran from the inverter, except my kitchen plugs, jacuzzi and the geyser. In December 2020 I added a 4th 330W panel, just to carry me through the day, should there b…

Hi all. I today commissioned a Luxpower 5KVA system. I did the install work during the week. Two strings of 6 JA 455W. Two 100AH Li Batteries and all looks and test perfect. Up to the point I power up the PV side. Without the Inverter I get 260V open circuit, this include loss due to the cable length and the combiner. But as soon as I turn the combiner switch on to the inverter it pulls the PV to 1,8V. Any ideas what to look for?

A 5 kva Luxpower inverter . I have 4 x lithuim battery s (48 v ) The box pole /studs type battery Vision 200 ah No coms port not pylon . The battery charging settings 3 ? What settings do you chose ? Lithuim without coms port ? what number is lithuim witout coms port ? If you chose lithuim 1 the inverter does not see the battery . Think there is about 20 different numbers under lithuim . Ended up setting it to Led acid With 54 v bulk (7) and 53.6 (8) triggel charge .

Job in progress it will only have battery backup for now. Than 20 x 435W panels will go up in January. Also complete new relocated DB board fitted with CBI Astute timers for geysers.

  13. Never got the chance to upload the handful of pics I managed to snap during my system install. Given how much I've enjoyed browsing through the setups shared in the showcase, it only felt fair that I share Scrambling to paint my roof a couple of days before the installers were due to arrive Managed to get it done just in time 😅 (well... at least the part of the roof that mattered) Panels installed. 15 Canadian Solar panels (405W) connected in a 4S3P configuration Trunking and main components mounted to the wall Wiring underway Batteries, Cerbo GX and GX Touch connected – system online (left space for…

Good day All. I am starting this thread to document my install from start to finish. Some background on the install. I purchased an 8KW Synsynk with 2 5.5 AM2 Hubble's. In addition, 10 JA Solar 540w panels will be mounted once they arrive. I am linking to system to Home-Assistant with Solar-Assistant on a Raspberry Pi. The installer is starting the install this morning, so here are some pics from before. I will be posting updates as the install progress. Current DB Board Synsink, Batteries, new DB and Solar PV Combiner waiting for install

  16. Time to get rid of the old Low Frequency 24v System and Configure And Install The New 48v SunSynk 5.5 System. Started testing the new system today. CT Clamp temporarily installed on the incoming grid DB Board. Waiting for electrician to come hook up the grid permanently and provide certificate. I hope he does not give me too much "fixes" to do Old 24v Low Frequency 1000Watt System New 48v SunSynk 5.5 System Solarman Portal Pretty Crappy Will be setting up my own Real-time Data-logging Solar Panels moving to my garage roof on the weekend, less shading

So the plan is to be able to use as little Eskom power as possible but to stay connected for in-case. At this stage I instaled the inverters ,some db boxes and so on. Below the plan.(feel free to comment or give advise)

I had some old 120A Osaka gel batteries that was left over from previous school fees paid. They have found a second chance in life. Bought a R250 ammo case from Outdoor warehouse and R100 for four wheels at Chinese shop, welded four pieces angle iron for extra strength. One Mecer 1440W inverter R2500 and some elbow grease.

I have a Dyness BX51100 lithium battery and I would to request some advice on the impact of charging on the battery life. My solar charge on a sunny day is more than enough to run my house and charge the battery, however on a cloudy day the battery is discharged and charged many times in the day. What affect will this have on my battery cycles and lifetime? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Sunsynk 8kw paired with 2 x Hubble AM2s and 16 x 540w JA Solar panels.

  22. Super impressed with my system today seeing as the battery was full by 12:00 System 8Kw Sunsynk Inverter 2 x 6kw Bull Batteries 28 x 455W JA Solar panels totaling 12.7kw Todays Production 65.6kw/hr My graph shows where it starts clipping power at 12:00 so I recon I would get +70kw/hr if I had more storage space for the energy. I also had no City Power for the whole day as they were doing maintenance on our transformers so had to be careful so as not to go over the 8kw limit.

  23. Hi to everybody, I thought it is a good start my first post with showing what I have made. the existing grid is 3 phases on a large area with 3 small lodges for vacancies rental. (+ workshop + office) the target was to reduce grid counsumption and being able to feed the internal grid between the 3 lodges in case of black out (quite often in summer) the main issue was that each lodge has its own elec board, the distance between lodges is large and distance to PV is large also. because of black out, the idea is to have battery storage. so if battery storage, the next idea is to use it, so zero feed into grid. So I end up with 100% injection solution in the…

Got the sign-off from CoCT about a month ago, so my DIY solar project is finally done and dusted. Thanks to everyone on the forum that provided advice - I probably would have stuffed it up if it wasn't for you. The whole project took about three months of evenings and weekends to finish, and was a welcome distraction from the current state of the world. 4 strings of 4 Canadian Solar 400Wp poly panels in series, facing NNE. Another string of 4 Canadian Solar 400Wp panels in series, facing WNW. All five strings are paralleled together for a combined 8kWp. This is my main DB. CoCT installed a new split prepaid m…
