Good day Guys I started a small project for a battery backup system for my home. No solar fitted at the moment, my intention is to do that in the next phase of my project. Inverter: RCT VMIII Batteries: 2 X OmniPower 260ah AGM GEL VRLA This installation is 2 days old now. My inverter settings are still in default mode. I would appreciate any recommendations to fine tune it based on the equipment that I am using. One battery is inside the battery box & one is on top.

Over the last several months I have been installing my inverter system bit by bit. Here is my progress (written as a bit of a guide if it helps someone else). Planning My goals are: Have UPS power Offset the cost a bit by adding solar Stay within my limited budget. (Yes the post title is spelled as intended 😀) So, after several weeks of planning, and getting the basic gear from mecerinverter.co.za, and a bit of a hackathon this weekend, I'm finally starting to disconnect from the grid. Well, becoming less dependant on it, shall we say. Ordered a 5kw Mecer Axpert King, and 3 x Pylontech US3000's from Devan @ EnwayPower/MecerInvert.co.za My order was fulfilled within 2 days, and Devan is definately highly recommened. We have a porch in the backyard that is covered with 18 260 Wp solar panels. They are connected to a SMA grid tied inverter and do their job quite well. Still I want to make changes to the system and slowly but surely changes are taking place. Here is why: The solar is producing enough power for us the year round but that is only because we use the grid as a battery. In summer we have a lot of excess power that we draw out from the grid in wintertime. That is just how net metering works. Finally took the plunge and did my installation, did it over a few days , made a few mistakes . Today was the day that I got to power it all up only to find the axpert had a failure, no ac output. Rushed off to the supplier and got it swopped out and 30 min later the system finally came alive. Thank you to Coulomb for the info and a big thank you to Suly for assisting with advice and programming.

Hi. First post on the forum. I've been researching and wanting to go solar for a number of years now but finally been able put together and install my system last month. My final plan is to eventually be able to go fully off grid and wanted something that can scale. Just the beginning... started building this little unit today to keep the inverter / charger, fuse box and other wiring protected. Will probably push the Easysolar-II back slightly (3-4 cm) as there is a recess in the wall of my motorhome, so that the top vent extrudes a bit... this means the bottom shifts up and I can wire downward from the glands visible at bottom of photo no. 1. The lip is riveted onto both short side (left and right of photos 1 & 2) to allow the chequer plate (that's vastrap to you) to slide in and out.

Hi guys. I struggle to understand my own installation. It's been done in 3 phases. Right, So my Infini has propably been running now for close to 2 years. To date have not had any major problems, so well worth the money. Recently I have upgraded my battery bank from 8 x Trojan T105 to x 16 So now I am running from solar and battery power during the day and from Eksdom during the night. I have been using solar for about 6 years. Started with 1 Axpert 5 kw inverter and 8 BenQ 330 w panels. My Axpert got a surge and i replaced it with 2 Mecer 5 kw inverters and added 14 CNBN 330 w panels. But i could not use my BenQ panels. So i got rid of my 2 Mecer inverters and brought 3 Victron Multi 3000/48 inverters in parrellel . Running 15 CNBN on a 250/100 charge controller and my 8 BenQ on a 150/60 charge controller. I did the complete install my self.

After my installation I started playing with my new "TOY" but quickly realize that it's not going to perform to the levels I wanted to. So finally up and running today. Roof space was an issue so I went North, East and West. Running 16X335W Canadians in 2SP2 on a 150/35 North and 2S6P on 150/100 East/West. (Will see how that pans out) Multiplus II - 5KVA with Venus. 2X Pylons US3000 ** Things that still need to be done - further labeling and some T-piece trunking to clean it up a bit better. Don’t have a suitable roof ( only double storey ) to mount the panels , so decided to us the car port structure . Thanks to Jaco and Plonkster’s advice, decided to learn from their experience and go with the Renusol system, instead of using aluminum channel and bolting the panels to the rails, having to drill precision holes while laying on your back Tariq

Hi all, Thanks to so much good information on this forum, a lot of thinking, planning and building, I finally came online on Saturday. So far everything works pretty well. Eskom mains was turned off on Sunday and so far, no need even to run the generator. Hey Everyone, I have been silently following this forum for some time, even though I had a genie. We wanted to get solar around 2 years ago, but the upfront cost was just too much. so we got a 18Kv diesel genie which worked 100%. The problem was that people complained about the noise and soon after they changed the time frame to use a genie. We decided to do what we wanted 2 years ago. Go solar! I have set the ball rolling on my new solar installation. I have ordered a 48v Microcare inverter as well as 18 x 255w solar panels with all the goodies to go with it to mount and cable it. I have also ordered my batteries (3 banks 200ah 48v Narada Rex-c batteries). I paid for these on Thursday and the batteries was delivered same day. Hello members, hope everyone is healthy and coping with lock-down. I built a 2P16S 48v LiefPO4 battery pack with Daly 16S 48V 200A common ground BMS. They are connected to two Voltronic clone 4000W inverters in parallel. Inverter saying 55v on the panel while its charging and measuring 55v at DC terminals on inverter. At the battery pack I am only reading 52.2v and cannot get the pack to charge up higher than that. Do you think the BMS is trying to "protect" and limit charging? So how are you doing with your solar system during lock down ? Perfect time for me do do what I wanted to do for some time but never had the time for. To recap - got three 5KVA multies on a three phase feed with a Solis 15KVA three phase grid tie with 10KWp of panels on the roof. I "stole" one of our MX1 aircraft EFIS flight instruments and repurposed it a bit. This is the original prototype of the MX1 EFIS intended for low cost applications. So my hybrid system has been running pretty smoothly for the last four years, but as expected, the batteries are now starting to fail on me, mainly due to heat, somewhat due to a bit of partial charging, and the odd very deep discharge. Rather than just replace the bank and carry on for the next four years, I figured, I'd change things up slightly. Currently the system runs the house apart from the geyser and stove (which are solar and gas respectively), but that does mean it's had to cope with oven, microwave, and the occasional aircon loads.
