So, I bit the bullet and had the Synsunk 12 kW 3 Phase system installed. I put in the following: Sunsynk 12kw 3 Phase inverter 1 x Hubble AM2 8 x 540w JA Solar Panels I connected all three phases of the board to the inverter, i.e. everything on the UPS side. I've set the unit so that: I'm off grid power from around 9.00 am to around 7.00 pm every day (some days a bit longer) I preserve a nominal battery charge from 07.00 pm to 11.00 pm in case the power goes out - if I don't do that I can go until 08.00 pm being off grid and deplete the battery to 25%. I charge the batter to around 75% (from 50%) which sees me throug…

Hi guys. I just want to share some recent 'budget' systems I've done. Two are 2kw and one is 3kw but all have 2.56kwh Lifepo4 storage. 2 systems were installed close to the db boards in the garage. One was installed outside under shelter to avoid fan noise These systems power all the lights in the house as well as some plug points for the usual TV wifi PC etc. They also power garage and gate motors

Hi Community, wanted to share another installation on here with an interesting story. Carried out the installation without a hitch as my electrician was drilling into the wall for the final trunking he hit a water pipe. He was on site quite late as it was loadshedding earlier in the day. This installation is in a complex that has a main water shut-off shared between 2 units. Needless to say this installation was a lot of fun. I must say that it's great to meet patient, humble people that still exist here in SA. My electrician was extremely deflated after a long day at work to have had such bad luck. Definitely invest in a stud detector. Will save you a red fac…

Hi All, Just thought I would show off my system. I haven't had much luck with installers and this is the third time this system has been installed. The outcome is great and he wall exceeded my expectations let me know what you all think. Originally the system was in a cupboard but a lot of people on the forum told me to pull it out and that is exactly what we did! If anyone needs a good installer in Cape Town that knows Luxpower send me a message. Many thanks Daniel

Initially I'd opted for a 5kW Sunsynk with a single 5kW Lithium battery and 3.6kW of panels, as a slightly more budget-friendly route. The plan was to expand the panels and batteries in a few months. Then I thought it would be prudent to get an 8kW inverter and the rest just tumbled in after. A quote from Cudub Holdings for the 8kW inverter, 2 Freedom Won eTower batteries and 12 460W JA panels was competitive and the whole experience was great. Equipment delivered 2 days after accepting their quote, I paid the deposit the following morning and was called at 7h00 the morning after with an offer to install that same day due to a cancellation. The installer from Cu…

Once again another 8kW Sunsynk but this time installed in a garage that does actually get some moisture from the hard rain as well as IP65 DC & AC boxes. East & West Arrays because the North roof was severely limited in real estate. DB split with the Pool pump left as non essentials. Everything else as essential.

8kw Sunsynk and 2 x 5.32kw SS batteries Customer will add solar panels later this year. Don't ask about the pipe from the wall no idea why the builder put it there, it runs back into the DB 😅

So Im looking to install a hybrid invertor and battery system to keep me going during load shedding , and then later adding panels. My first goal is just keep some sort of normal live going when eskom cant. So I live in a small complex and our body corporate has given permission for owners to install solar provided its through proper installers so on and so on. But where my question comes in is , I dont have a garage and i dont want to install this inside my house, I have a small patio outside that is partially covered . Im happy to extend the patio roof or build an enclosure if needed. I have found invertors and batteries that are IP 65 rated. However can it be…

Good Day all So after 6 months of waiting for my installer, on the 25 July the install actually happened. This is a modest setup to start my journey to solar generation, but enough to cover my home. The equipment installed was as follows: Axpert MKS II 5kW 48V Inverter Axpert WiFi Module SHOTO 5.12kWh Lithium Battery 160A 2 Pole Multiblock NH00 Fuse Holder 100A 500V NH Fuse Link x2 PermoPower 35mm Black Cable PermoPower 35mm Red Cable 35mm Heavy Duty Crimping Lugs Their was quite a bit of extras, as the 2 x DB, 20m of cable, extra breakers, pilot lights, as I had to install the inverter and battery in ano…

This is a new system I designed around a Micro grid. Its a DIY job and its based off a Fronius Primo 8kW string inverter on the AC output of the Victron Quattro 8kW Inverter charger with a black start Victron 150/35 MPPT controller and 8kW generator for support. The BYD is a modular system, each brick is 4kWh and the system will initially be 16kWhs and in a few months will grow to 32kWh. I will do periodic posts as I make progress in between the day job on this

So, on Thursday night my Sunsynk 8Kw Inverter was coming up with an F26 "DC busbar is unbalanced" error and stopped working! After numerous conversations with @Leshen, GetOffGrid & Sunsynk it was determined that the problem was an Inverter issue and that it was going to have to go in for repair. Needless to say panic ensued at the prospect of having to deal with load shedding for the next 2 months (long waiting list for Sunsynk repairs at the moment) I at first considered getting a replacement 8kw Sunsynk to use until my 8kw comes back from repair and then either sell my old one or parallel them to get 16kw. That option however soon collapsed as…

Hi everyone, Would you care to have a look at my proposed wiring diagram. Main DB is in the kitchen, so I can't put the inverter and battery next to it, also don't have space left for any more breakers. The proposed idea is to move all my essentials down to a new db in the garage. I Should also mention that the shed (Sub DB 2) is non-essential for now, I am planning on expanding this to a second 5kw Inverter and battery as well as solar at a later stage. would love to hear some feedback on future proofing this for easy upgradability. Thanks in advance!

Hybrid Hyper 5000 split unit with Livoltek Lithium battery. No stock of the all in one units but they a week away from stock. Something to mention is that the Hyper 5000 is IP65 & is Grid interactive & listed & approved by the NRS. Many more of these to be installed soon. Ideal for ppl with limited space or maybe in a rental unit.
