  1. Install in Nigel( plaasboere) Sunsynk 16kw Max what a beast totally in a class of its own paired with 40kwh Freedom Won and 13.3kwp of Longi panels. Dust ,dust and dust everywhere as this was done before planting season on this farm. The backup system is actually for the veterinarian side of the farm as the rest of the house and water pumps was already on generator backup. The panels was a challange due to inner ceiling insulation and roof tiles being uneven on reinstallation. But we got there eventually.

    Sunsynk 8kw with 2 x 5.1 BSL Powerline 5 and 14 x 550w panels. 7 east and 7 west.

  4. A couple of firsts for me here in this installation. Firstly the Bi-facial PV modules. So the front & back of the panel can catch light & produce energy. Secondly well not a first for me to build an LFP pack but a first to integrate direct battery Comms to the Sunsynk. I can only take credit for the battery build. However, @BritishRacingGreenis the master behind the 300A JBD BMS CANbus Communications integration with the Sunsynk. This is definitely a game changer because this was always the missing link with people wanting to go down the route of DIY battery building. Well, we have done it. We will unravel this installation over a few days. Enjoy the b…

A fairly new product that I think will add a lot of value to ppl living in an apartment. The Loadshedder 4. It's a 3.6kW all in one unit by Sunsynk. There is also a 2.4kW Loadshedder 2 machine also available. Given that this client has a gas geyser gas stove the 3.6kW will go a very long way. Also with a 40A AC passthrough this device is in actual fact a very valuable performer. It has the ability to add Batteries externally or to parallel more units to expand and scale.

Sunsynk 5kw with BSL 5kwh Slimline and 6 x 550w panels. New BSL has a 15 year warranty and 8000 cycles at 80% DOD. 6000 cycles at 100% DOD

  7. Some installs less problamatic than others it keeps you on your toes. That's why it is so important for installers when doing initial assessment to look at all aspects. The existinging electrical installation did not have a valid coc as alterations has been done to existing installation and no supplementary coc was issued at the time. That much said i had to do 2 supplementary coc's one for the changes made and one for my solar installation. Testing and handover to client went well.

  8. So this Solar Industry is growing faster that most can keep up with. As an installation company that carries out residential as well as Commercial level projects we face challenges with what is the power requirement for a large commercial type of project. One must out into context that some of these commercial projects are financially large investments & the question will always lay at the installers door: What do we need to run this factory in terms of equipment. So specification is so important & there needs to be a massive risk analysis done as to what are we sizing & what are we powering. The successful outcome of each project hinges on this investig…

  9. The panels was quite a challenge due to roof construction. 2 strings 8 and 7 in series 9.150 kwp. FW 15/12 impressive as usual. Inverter location not ideal work bench right next to FW battery.

  10. Started by TaliaB,

9This project was a nightmare from the start. Medical industry rules and regulations an arduous task. Not the common inverter/solar install but rather generator/ ups. Big machines 30kva single phase generator backed up by 30kva Tescom double conversion Ups battery voltage 256v lead carbon 40 x 50ah connected 20 in series 2 banks in parallel. Awaiting delivery for Tescom 30kva Ups and 30kva isolation transformer from Ismur in Turkey. DB board done and generator connected and tested. I was impressed by the ATS(Deep Sea Electronics) on the generator 15sec from start to power delivery. 40kva load bank to test the installation. Sorry for the red dots on the energy me…

  11. Another one bites the dust. 😝 Isn't that FW cute? But capable i am very impressed with the Freedom Won overall.

  12. Started by TaliaB,

Tests went well today up and running issued COC solar ready combiner installed will install panels in 2 to 3 months time when client has funds the FW set him back a pretty penny but will be worth it.

  13. Another installation that went without incident.

  14. So a very interesting project on this site. Spent all but an hour consulting on this project with a client & to my horror after discussing a starting point of 5kW Sunsynk machine etc only to be shown a DB with 3 phase supply which makes for some interesting budget conversations etc. So we got to the conclusion of the best of both worlds & settled at the 8kW Sunsynk, with a 5kWh E-Tower & a 5.5kW Canadian Solar PV Array. The battery is below specification for this 8kW machine but another E-Tower will follow in time which I thought was a wise decision. So effectively we will have a Single phase backup & other 2 phases that will be shed when Eskom decid…

  15. Hallo almal! New user here, Paarl resident. My inverter and batteries were finally installed yesterday -- such freedom to simply forget about load shedding whilst watching Silo last night at 10pm! Solar panels have been delivered, but installer is awaiting A-frames for the roof slab installation, ETA about two weeks. Once everything is up and running, I want to get into the automation aspects -- currently considering RPi + Solar Assistant + Home Assistant. Are there any other platforms I should think about? Also, what's everyone using for their geyser management? I have 2 x geysers running on-grid only, along with the oven and HVAC, so looking to minim…

  16. Another 12kW 3 phase UPS installed. No panels but just a backup supply. More battery storage to follow in the coming months.

  17. Started by conradl,

So, my install was done yesterday Summary: 1 x 5kW Sunsynk Inverter and 14 x 455W JA Solar panels 2 x Hubble AM2 batteries (another one planned for) Installation took appx 6 hours and I'm very happy with attention to detail that team applied, to the DB as well as what's "hidden" the trunking and main DB. Lessons learnt (if anyone else ever encounters a similar situation): We had issues with the inverter "tripping" with a F20 (overcurrent) error intermittently. This happened on and off without a definite idea of why it was happening. No issues at night and the house was running off the batteries fine through the night. This mornin…

  18. Good evening everyone, Thank you for all the information and ideas shared on this forum. It has helped me to select a solar system for my house. An approved Sunsynk installer installed the following system today: 8kW Sunsynk Inverter 2 x 5kW Sunsynk Batteries 8 x 545W Panels (more will be added as funds become available) The system has been running for about 4 hours now. We had loadshedding for 5 minutes only tonight. Needless to say my lights stayed on:)!! The system is setup for essential and non-essential load. Oven and geyser is the only non-essential items. A question that I have is that the installer did not connect a G…

Good Day. I'm interested in installing the Livoltex 5kva all in one system. Would appreciate some feedback from clients who are already using this system. How is the quality of the product ? Compared to synapse/axpert inverters and weco / dyness lithium batteries . your response will be much appreciated. THANK YOU

  23. Started by flatfourfan,

So for the last 9 years or so I've had a simple 12v lighting system in the house with a 120ah battery running off a 12v 120watt panel in turn running 34 led lights. I've had zero failures of any of the equipment and the battery that I had lasted me a good 7 years. Success. The new install had to actually work around the small panel as I refused to move it or change anything attached to that system. I decided to up it a bit, but knew that I was in over my head. So Alumo did the install yesterday. 12 x 470w panels, 8KW Sunsynk and 2x 5.5KV greenrich batteries. I'd added Cbi wifi timers on my geysers and have 1 geyser on the system (smaller one) and one on the gri…

  24. So, unfortunately, I stay in a unit that doesn't allow for any panels nor do I have any space to sneak some in the yard so I'm not really taking away the pain in some sense but doing what I can so long to ensure I am comfortable till we move. My initial setup was mounted in a hurry, going for the get it up and worry later part (below). I recently however when mounting the 3rd Battery decided to clean up the setup a bit, move it deeper behind the front door, remove the plank and neaten it up slightly. Added an ABI geyser switch to monitor to help easily reduce the load during times of strain at our power station plus monitor our consumption, we currently are just left with…
