  1. So I 3d printed cell holders for the Batterries, soldered on the fuses, hooked them together 7p, got a 24V cell meter balancer. And connected the terminals to the battery connection on the inverter. I’d say tested the cells and built the battery from scratch.

  2. A post yesterday reminded me to check the linked site for recent firmware files. I had not looked for over a year, and found 3 recent firmwares there. One of them is removable display firmware 02.60: https://www.ostrovni-elektrarny.cz/support/Axpert/FW/RemotePanel_Reflash_MCU(02.60).rar This is listed as an Axpert King firmware, but I'm guessing that it would also work with Axpert VM III main firmware version 91.20, also on that site: https://www.ostrovni-elektrarny.cz/support/Axpert/FW/VMIII_Ver91.20.7z The removable display firmware adds another BMS type, LIC. There was for a long time type LIB, which I thought might have stood for LIBrary, but now it looks like it stands for LIthium type B and LIthium type C. There is also an Axpert Max 7200 W main firmware version 90.11 there: https://www.ostrovni-elektrarny.cz/support/Axpert/FW/MAX7200_Main_CNTL_DSP_90.11.7z .

  4. Ah ok. The Astute doesn’t use a clamp, it has a shunt internally to measure current. It then take current and voltage to calculate power and factor with a neat little chip. My problem with an App based system is that it talks to a service in the cloud (like Tuya) and, should internet go down, so does all your automations. Us “die hards” flash these (and many other) devices with Tasmota, giving you a nice, common platform for stuff from various manufacturers to talk to each other. And to make it pretty, we use Home Assistant to display/control all this stuff, although it’s mostly not critical for that to remain working. Multiple redundancy and everything remains on the local network. ‘I really should do a write up about the benefits of this. I find myself repeating myself frequently.

  7. Bought some 50mm farmers pipe. I got a 5meter piece R80 worth of pipe, and fitted over some tubes. Not doing my home work first to calculate how much I needed i’m short with a few pipes, fitted in a hurry the night before departure, but can’t fix it now I’m gone holidaying already. I’m checking cctv’s at home to see if water is running down roof but have not spotted any yet. Maybe its already dry at times when I check. But still early days and hope it brings the water temperature down.

  8. I use these covers. Essentially they are piping sawn in half. They fit standard EV tubes and work well. https://www.sustainable.co.za/geyserwise-evacuated-tube-cover-set-of-4.html
