August 5, 20232 yr I have a Deye 5kv inverter with 9 x Jinko 555w panels on one string. The voltage with load is around 420v and I have another panel that i want to add on. The Voc on the panel is 49.72v which will still be below the 500v limit, it is safe to add another panel to this?

With these panels you are already running a risk that the voltage can get too high for comfort. Also to make it worse you will have a voltage exceeding the MPPT range. Rather not do it.
August 5, 20232 yr You can have maximum of 8 of those panels on 1 string. 9 is already over the limit.
August 5, 20232 yr Jinko 555wp Voc = 49.72v. So 9 x 49.72 = 447.48v + 7.5% = 481v. The Deye 5kw Mppt voltage should not exceed 425v so @PowerUseris correct you have already exceeded the safe operating voltage of the Mppt with 9 panels. I agree with @Scorp007do not add another panel rather remove 1 panel from that string. The Mpp(maximum power point) of the Mppt is 370v the sweet spot.

The MPPT on the SunSynk 5kW is rated for 13A with the latest versions of the firmware. The same should apply for the Deye as well. They are the same inverter.

They are the same inverter. Thanks for the info. I was not aware of the upgrade and their datasheets still reflect 11A per MPPT. Yep, I know the Deye, Sunsynk and Sol-Ark is one and the same inverter, just with different OS's.

We must be careful not to confuse "clipping" or current limiting of the Mppt with the maximum voltage allowed. Overvoltage is detrimental to the Mppt controller as this exceeds the components voltage thresholds. When the batteries are full and the SCC stops taking current, the panels 'see' this as an open circuit and the voltage will rise to Voc.

Spot on that the inverter is already clipping. 2 strings of 5 connected 5 per MPPT should give you over 4.5kW if you currently getting 12.2A at 420V under load=5.1kW which seems very high. August 6, 20232 yr Author i'm not sure the firmware however i think i will just split the string in two . I have checked on the sticker that it shows 13A per string
