September 18, 2025Sep 18 Author A bit sad thing is, that apart from occasional charging of EVs I have no use for all that power during the summer. Batteries are full way before lunch, water geyser is hot too and therefore the production falls down, just to cover ambient needs of the house:On the other hand, on the rainy days it's great now. Even if I consume a lot on that particular day, solar is still able to keep-up, power the loads and charge the batteries at the same time:But what I am really looking for is to see how the new setup will operate during winter. Of course, there still will be a plenty of days with the production nearing zero, but I hope that on the other winter days it might work good-enough.Let's see! September 18, 2025Sep 18 I am curious. Do you redo the COC every-time you make changes? Did you need it when you went off-grid as it seems you made a ton of changes often. With such an array I guess exporting might not have been a bad idea but you are off-grid.

I believe overpanelling or overclocking is for the rainy days so yes you don't use all the pv capacity during high solar irradiance but you have redundancy on not such perfect days and like you said for winter periods.Maybe start crypto mining or share with the community 😜 Edited September 18, 2025Sep 18 by TaliaB

The kit is way too too expensive unfortunately and will take years to break even. Ever since Eth killed it the prices for the other tokens havent been too good to justify an investment. Considering you would mostly mine during sunny hours so 10 hrs at most.

Did you need it when you went off-grid as it seems you made a ton of changes often. With such an array I guess exporting might not have been a bad idea but you are off-grid.In my country you don't really need to have CoC, nor anything else, for private off-grid installations under 50 kWp. On the other hand, once you want to have your solar connected to the national grid, there's a TON of paperwork you have to go thru, CoC being the first. On top of that, they limit not only the export power, but the maximum installed kWp too. (I recall that max for private installations here was 10kWp a couple of years ago, now it's a bit higher but still limited somehow). And that was basically the reason why I decided to go off-grid with my solar. There are some advantages having ongrid or hybrid solar, but the real economic incentive is smaller and smaller every year. I know a lot of ppl who made some some nice profits on selling their excess production in the past, but currently the price difference between the case when you need to buy power vs when you are selling power back is so huge that they just feel being ripped-off and abused. The only notable advantages of going ongrid/hybrid that are still here are these three:need no batteries for ongrid = very affordablecan have just a small inverter and small battery for hybrid, since all the load-spikes will be covered by the grid seamleslycan ask for a subsidy (up to around 5 000 USD per installation I think)Luckily, nothing from the above is compelling for me :)7 minutes ago, Denns said:I looked at crypto mining on my end as my batteries get full around 10 and to burn excess power I let the pool run for 8 hrs now a day. Otherwise the gear becomes obsolete over the time, as the amount of work needed to calculate each new block is getting higher. Does not make sense to buy 5 000 USD miner(s) and then let them being powered-off half of the time. A friend of mine has 100 kWp on his farm and has racks full of miners running 24x7. What he said to me is, that with this scale, heat and space starts to be the main problem. Edited September 18, 2025Sep 18 by Youda

October 2, 2025Oct 2 Hi,I have 2 x US5000 batteries connected via serial cable with my computer. I can see both batteries parameters in console (using putty on COM port), so I must assume that serial cable is working.Manufacturer : PylonDevice name : US5000Board version : V10R04Board : NF4.E3Main Soft version : B69.25.0.0Soft version : V2.0Boot version : V1.0Comm version : V2.0Release Date : 24-05-13My problem is that when trying to read both batteries using BatteryView 3.0.37 software (United - 2 Units) I'm getting an error - see attached capture. If I connect only to master battery, I can see its parameters.Do you know what can be the cause for this? Maybe I need to use another BatteryView software version?
October 12, 2025Oct 12 Author @roadrunner79 were you able to resolve the issue? If not, just try troubleshooting steps from this thread: https://powerforum.co.za/topic/20916-listing-all-pylontech-battery-modules-in-batteryview-v3028/Also, your installation of BW might be corrupted or missing definition files. Worth to try a new download from the Forums Downloads section.
October 26, 2025Oct 26 @Youda Can you or some one else help me in getting the upgrade file of Pylontech UF5000 . I have an issue with the battery hoping the upgrade will solve it . Battery is giving alarm at startup (pressing the red switch) for few seconds with 3 of 5 of the lends is on .? then goes to totally shutdown . . Thank you in advance Edited October 26, 2025Oct 26 by Riyad179
October 27, 2025Oct 27 Author @Riyad179 UF5000? That is the model that I never heard of.If that's UP5000 or US5000 then you can find the upgrade images and tools in the FILES section of this forum.BTW: Normally, when Pylontech battery beeps and lights the alarm red during the start it indicates that there's HW issue. For example burnt DFET.
October 27, 2025Oct 27 thank you Youda for your quick response, it's probably as you mentioned a hardware issue (BMS). I will try to contact dealer , it's a 3 months only passed since purchased. !! Edited October 27, 2025Oct 27 by Riyad179

Maybe I need to use another BatteryView software version?Hi, I had the same issue on my US5000C I added to an existing stack today. I spoke to Pylontech support in the UK (about something else related to a US3000C being undervoltage) and he said it's a known bug in v2.0 , and you need to downgrade to v1.9. I did that just now and , voila, I can see all 3 batteries.
February 5Feb 5 Firmware update on new US3000C.Wondering if anyone else has hit this.I used the files from effekta which mean using the update tool 1.0.10 (not battery view) and pointing to the zip. In the log it gave an error "Fail to write bar code"If I try to access from BatteryView I need to get a pop up wanting the barcode manually entered. Which I can do and get the stats. However the barcode is empty. Interestingly if I connect via serial cable and run info 1 then it actually shows the barcode...??? and the firmware version.I note the battery serial 8&9 digit is C1 which is odd right..? Should be old chip based on that but it came with version 3.0 and choose V3.1 (not the 2.5 new chip)====================Upgrade log26-02-05 18:21:57->Connecting...26-02-05 18:21:58->Connect timeout26-02-05 18:22:26->Connecting...26-02-05 18:22:32->address:1device name:US3000Cbarcode:Y240927C1xxxxxspecification:48V/74AHcell number:1526-02-05 18:22:32->Connected.26-02-05 18:23:59->The bin file used to update the current device is: US_C_V3.1_Crc.bin26-02-05 18:24:07->The update program starts, file is transfering...26-02-05 18:25:21->The bin file is programmed completely.26-02-05 18:25:25->Connected to device after update26-02-05 18:25:25->Fail to write bar code26-02-05 18:25:27->address:1device name:US3000Cbarcode:Y240927C1xxxxxspecification:48V/74AHcell number:1526-02-05 18:25:27->Update is finished===================Infoinfo 1@Device address : 1Manufacturer : PylonDevice name : US3000CBoard version : V10R04Main Soft version : B68.11.0.0Soft version : V3.1Boot version : V2.1Comm version : V2.0Release Date : 25-05-30Barcode : Y240927C1xxxxxDevice Test Time : 2000-00-00 00:00:00Specification : 48V/74AHCell Number : 15Max Dischg Curr : -90000mAMax Charge Curr : 90000mAEPONPort rate : 1200Console Port rate : 115200Last Idle Days : 966Max Idle Days : 966Command completed successfully===============Working battery (not updated)Device address : 1Manufacturer : PylonDevice name : US3000CBoard version : V10R04Main Soft version : B68.8.0.0Soft version : V3.0Boot version : V2.1Comm version : V2.0Release Date : 24-07-25Barcode : Y240927C1xxxxxSpecification : 48V/74AHCell Number : 15Max Dischg Curr : -90000mAMax Charge Curr : 90000mAEPONPort rate : 1200Console Port rate : 115200Command completed successfully

February 9Feb 9 Just in case anyone else hits this :-)Seeems this model isn't compatible with 3.1 of the firmware, downgraded back to 3.0 and everything working fine. Oh and another tip is that it does not work with 3.0.38 of batteryview make sure you use 3.0.37Simple right ;-)Again huge thanks to the forum members here, thanks for sharing and helping..!Matt
March 10Mar 10 Hi guys, Seems my US5000 is down until someone fixes the temperature sensors for the 4 cells inside. Or can it still be fixed by reset/clear/update/etc by software?
