    I have 4 panels, not ideally located, lots of shade early morning and afternoon, but the voltage of those is around 150V, when unshaded...

    see Voltage graph above...

    and power produced above... around 9kWh for yesterday.

    SOLVED. there was another bad zenner in parallel with the good one. on this particular model, the MPPT IGBT's are powered by the same power supply.

    I have same model, same problem when working only from PV.
    After changing some email with MPP Solar, they suggested the following:
    "likely PV interference as we also have some other customers with this issue and may be relating to PV wiring run.  exact cause though is unknown at this time since we cannot reproduce this in our lab.   Try installing >15uf /500v capacitor wires if you can on the PV terminals and this is a known fix.  attached SOP for your reference."
     
    I also have some newer firmware versions, that fix some bugs related to unstable output power.
     
    Still there are lots of other open issues:
     MPPT issues on cloudy days
    Low MPPT performance compared to other inverters (Voc 500Vdc)
     
    Unacceptable charging battery from grid in case of Solar Only charging setting
    The moment there is some voltage in PV, PIP6048MT is starting to charge battery with 4A from grid, although I configured to charge only from Solar.
     
    AC Charging setting incorrect behavior
    It seems that in case of UTILITY AND SOLAR charging setting, AC charging behavior is wrong:
    2A MAX AC setting – DC clamp measurement is 15A, watchpower PC software was reporting 13A
    10A MAX AC setting - DC clamp measurement is 15A, watchpower PC software was reporting 13A
    20A MAX AC setting – DC clamp measurement is 25A, watchpower PC software was reporting 23A
     
    Output source priority “Solar Utility Batt - SUB” incorrect behavior
    In case of battery full (floating stage), PV was showing around 280Vdc, PV input power = 0W.
    This means that Output active power was taken from grid, although it was on second priority.

    I upgrade my inverter to the mentioned version 
    The twin problem not solved 
    I faced other problem after the update 
    Max charging current reduced to 10amp
    I tried to modify it many times but it return to 10amp after battery fully charged and not goes up again.

    The PV energy is not stable, if the 2nd output is turned ON too fast then the 2nd output may be ON/OFF frequently when the PV energy is not stable. We have one special version of Main CPU firmware to turn ON the 2nd output when the inverter backs to AC mode for more than 1 min. Please upgrade the firmware to check if it could comply your request.

    Hi guys,
    Just wanted to present to you a new Windows' software tool that we prepared for monitoring of PIP/Axpert inverters and Pylontech batteries. It supports many compatible inverter models. It can work with parallel configurations as well. This was actually the main reason to write the software because a few months ago I upgraded my system from single to 3x inverters and the "pi" solution did not work correct anymore.
    The software can control switching between battery/grid mode based on Pylontech SOC, and also can control Pylontech max charge current based on the request coming from its BMS. The software can also upload data to emoncms server. 
    Currently the software has only basic reporting, but all inverter/pylon data is stored in local database and we intend to add more reporting options in future.
    We also added a "console" screen where users can manually send commands to Inverters and Pylontech.
    The communication with inverters is by USB or RS232 connection. In parallel setups each inverter should be connected with separate cable. I chose this method because reading parallel data from a single inverter is highly inaccurate and slow (at least in the setups where we tested).
    The Pylontech batteries can be connected by RS232 (console port) or RS485 (to the dedicated RS485 port).

    Update: Problem solved. I have replaced the flimsy wires that came with the battery case that were going from BMS to battery and terminals and from battery to the terminals.
    Now the battery works as intended (or as I think it should) and draws same or more power than the 74Ah Pylontechs in any load conditions.

    @Scorp007 Not sure I follow what you mean with the 2A ? Usually I calibrate with lab power supply and 10A.

    Also, your installation of BW might be corrupted or missing definition files. Worth to try a new download from the Forums Downloads section.

    It is possible that 100% indicates cell balancing, but not sure. My money would be on slight noise on the voltage line. I also have the AM-5, and I don't see the 99 to 100% cycling that you see. Mine is solid on 100%.

    The issue was existing in the resistor between op amp output and negative input, having the value 7.5 kOhm

    Deye and SunSynk are both excellent pieces of hardware, differentiated by branding and firmware. I personally enjoy the SunSynk firmware, but that is personal taste.
    The failure rate has been quotes at 0.4% for SunSynk, but with a large installed base this reflects as "more" failures than other brands.
    I have had my SunSynk 8.8 kW machine for a number of years now, and have never had it fail unexpectedly.
    Once it did shut-down, but the reason was expected, and no damage to the inverter or household appliances.
    What happened is there was a municipal Neutral failure which caused over 300V between Live and Earth, I have SPD's on AC incoming and Essential Load after the inverter.
    The SPD on Essential Load fired and shorted to Earth, which caused the inverter to shut-down.
    Walking into the power room and smelling that acrid electrical burnt smell sends shivers down the spine. 😕
    Once the fault was diagnosed, municipal power was disconnected, the damaged SPD replaced, the inverter booted up with no problem and ran on batteries for the night.
    One tough "sun of a gun", so I am happy with my machine. Also I have passed through well over 10 kW.

    Can anybody tell me what is essential load, non-essential load, backup load and, i guess, home load? there is so much jargon I get completely confused!
    I have a simple set-up whereby all the plugs/sockets are connected to solar but the pool pump, oven, geysers connected directly to the grid.

    These terms are right out of the Deye manual so I’ll take a swing at it. Essential load and backup load are the same thing. Non-essential loads are connected to the grid and essentially bypass the inverter. They lose power when the grid goes down and do not use battery power. Home load encompasses all loads. Everything on your side of the utility meter is a home load.

    Hi there,

    Well my first post was a bit of a mess which lead to off-topic comments.
    Here is (hopefully) a better structured version of my original post:

    I'm running a Deye 5KW Hybrid inverter /  2 x Volta Stage 1 batteries (2 x 5KWh in parallel) / 12 x 550W solar panels
    The end goal is to be fully off-grid, run my essential loads either from solar or batteries and then also run my geyser as non-essential.
    (I've read up on the System Work Mode menu where you can optionally charge the batteries from the grid if they reach a specific minimum SOC)

    From what I understand (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong):
    - The non-essential load according to Deye is wired into the Generator Port (a separate physical output on the inverter) and is referred to as Smart Load.
    - Under the Gen Port menu, the option for SmartLoad Output is selected with a "Power" value specified
    - Under the Gen Port menu, under the Micro Inv Input section, battery SOC % values are input.
    - Under the System Work Mode menu, Zero Export to CT must be selected.
    (I read somewhere that power is not sent to non-essential power if Zero Export to Load is selected)

    My (main) essential load is my fridge and desktop computer ( plus other random small appliances like a fan) which typically add up to 500W.
    My PV array is split east / west with 4 panels (2200W) east facing and 8 panels (4400w) west facing. (I had no choice as that is how my roof was built !)
    My current setting setting under System Work Mode is Zero Export to CT / LoadFirst.

    My geyser is not currently connected to my inverter at all. The entire plan is to run it from the SmartLoad when I have surplus solar output.

    Now for some questions:

    Assuming that my geyser has a 2000W element, and my typical essential load is around 500W, what do I set the "Power" value to?
    Which battery SOC % values is recommended under the Micro Inv Input section?
    Is it required to use the Zero Export To CT mode under the System Work Mode in order to send load the non-essential load?

    Assuming that I set my "Power" setting to 2500W and my batteries are charging from solar output during the morning:
    Will battery charging from surplus solar output be prioritized over SmartLoad?

    Lets say there is 3000W surplus solar output and my batteries draws 2000W while charging.
    That should leave 1KW additional power for SmartLoad? (Which is not enough to run a 2000W geyser).
    Will the inverter simply choose to not run the geyser until the batteries are fully charged and there is sufficient surplus solar power?

    I assume that I would use a relatively high SOC % value for ON and OFF to ensure that SmartLoad is only possible if the batteries are relative fully recharged?
    I was thinking 100% - 90%. 

    Is it possible under any condition that SmartLoad can draw power from the batteries? (That is not something that I would want to happen.)

    As far as I am aware is the CT clamp currently (correctly) installed on the essential (main) load output on the inverter itself.
    If I would wire my inverter into my main DB , it is my understanding that the CT clamp will need to be moved and placed between the DB and main eskom feed.
    (Geyser would no longer be wired into main DB)

    Okay, now I see a potential issue:
    1) US3000 x4 with communication cable to one of my inverters in parallel.
    As far as I know, Axpert firmware does not work correctly when you have more inverters running in parallel while having Pylontech BMS connected to one of them at the same time. Simply, the master inverter is not passing the BMS values to the slave inverter. Since slave inverter is not able to communicate with the BMS, system throws an error.
    A possible workaround would be to logically reorganize your four Pylontech batteries to 2+2 setup. Leave all the DC cables connected as they are, but remove the short UTP communication cable that's between brick #2 and #3. Then reboot the battery. This would create two logical stacks with two master batteries. Connect RS485 port of one master battery to the first Axpert and RS485 port of other master battery to the second Axpert. This way, both Axperts will be able to communicate with BMS. Just remember to keep all the DC power cables as they are - still having all 4 bricks paralleled together and acting as a single large battery bank.
    2) Just switched off the inverters so that they show that they are in "bypass" mode, the battery jumped back from 56% SOC to 67% SOC. The lights (SOC) on the batteries are steady at the 2nd to last on from full.
    This clearly indicates that the Axpert is not reading SOC from the Pylontech BMS, but is guessing the SOC from the battery voltage instead. As with the common lead-acid cells.

    There are two ways.
    1. Disable time of use. Then the inverter will operate as a UPS and only use battery when grid is down.
    2. Enable time of use and set minimum battery to 100%.

    Up to a point the inverter will regulate the amount of current it draws from the panels. Even if the panel is capable of say 13A, if the inverter's MPPT input is rated at 11A, then it will not take more than that 11A under normal operation. Any potential power generation that the inverter could have delivered with a 13A current will be simply clipped. A waste for sunny days, but on cloudy days you could get more performance using a higher-current panel.
    However, there's more to consider, such as the Isc, the short-circuit current under fault conditions. There's an ultimate limit to the current the inverter can handle. Let's say in this scenario it might be Isc of for argument's sake 15A that is the inverter's limit, while the panel could push out 16A, or even more if you place panels in parallel without considering the consequences. I'm just making up numbers here.
    Voc is more clear-cut. You don't want to exceed the rated maximum Voc because the inverter cannot easily regulate Voltage. Take care to leave room to cater also for Voltage spikes due to cold temperatures, or the cloud effect.

    If you have an concern that the relay may fail, just use the normally close contact. Even if the coil fails the relay contact will stay in the closed position. This will create a permanent bond even when Eskom is on until you can replace the relay.

Plug one side(pin 1,2) of the communication cable on BMS port on these brand inverter, plug the other side of the communication cable(namely pin 5,6) on any communication port on Felicitysolar battery. 3. Setting steps on inverter: Setting→14→PYL. 4. Sign of successful communication: Can check the battery SOC on inverter   If your cable is correct maybe support at the above link can help.

    Hello, this is a very easy fault. There are two 10 ohm resistors located near the igbt that are damaged. Replace them please.

    for CAN connect try use thes pinout
    inverter
    4-5 and short 6and7
    battery  - 4-5
    if you use cable with T568B in both sides:
    invetrter
    Blue(4)-WhiteBlue(5) and short Green(6)-WhiteBrown(7)
    battery
    only Blue(4)-WhiteBlue(5)
     
    if if you do everything right -you may look on iverter screen battery name (DYNESS) and battery capacity

    Hi @Adnano  I don't know Growatt that well , but I have seen enough of its inner to know that many of the subsystems are derivatives of the Voltronic Axpert technology.  The fact that you are reading a display of 530V prompts me to believe  that the differential instrumentation amplifier that scales down high pv input to a representative 3.3V swing , are missing the negative opamp supply rail. Typically the opamp has a +12VDC on its +supply  pin , and a -12VDC on its -supply pin. This is of course relative to the system 0V (not to be confused with the actual pv power rails. It sometimes happen on an Axpert that the -12V regulator fails to a state where it has a low impedance to 0v . This effectively results in the opamp having a 12V supply wrt 0v , instead of having a +12V and -12V wrt to 0V. The opamp , while not faulty , cannot operate near its rail voltages and this results in the opamp output being driven very close to its 3.3v maximum, which represents the highest reading , hence the 530V value on display.
    So most probably your opamp negative rail is at fault.

    For me I prefer to replace the whole set of capacitors around the regulator 7912 , as each time I face this fault and measure those capacitors they give lower uF value than real value even if  not bulged.
