yani Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, Just wanted to present to you a new Windows' software tool that we prepared for monitoring of PIP/Axpert inverters and Pylontech batteries. It supports many compatible inverter models. It can work with parallel configurations as well. This was actually the main reason to write the software because a few months ago I upgraded my system from single to 3x inverters and the "pi" solution did not work correct anymore. The software can control switching between battery/grid mode based on Pylontech SOC, and also can control Pylontech max charge current based on the request coming from its BMS. The software can also upload data to emoncms server. Currently the software has only basic reporting, but all inverter/pylon data is stored in local database and we intend to add more reporting options in future. We also added a "console" screen where users can manually send commands to Inverters and Pylontech. The communication with inverters is by USB or RS232 connection. In parallel setups each inverter should be connected with separate cable. I chose this method because reading parallel data from a single inverter is highly inaccurate and slow (at least in the setups where we tested). The Pylontech batteries can be connected by RS232 (console port) or RS485 (to the dedicated RS485 port). You can download the software at http://www.multisibcontrol.net . It is absolutely free now. yani Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 Please note that the software needs Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 (or a newer version) in order to run. .NET Framework is usually already installed in newer versions of Windows. In Windows XP, however, it is usually not installed by default. The .NET Framework can be downloaded for free from http://www.microsoft.com Quote

It would be great to use free software, but what a shock if it stops working after 6 months and "now" you have to pay... zsde, ibiza and Rclegg 3 Quote
MrOccO Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Ok, so when I downloaded it it would read the pylons only and Axpert would not read (brand new version - Purchased axpert in July 2020). I contacted the support and man, Yani is amazing. This guy went above and beyond and managed to get it working with some program alterations. I can confidently say that this software is unbelievably good. This software works amazingly well. If it ever does come to a paid version it is worth every cent. Quote

Picked up both inverters using the USB to Mini USB cables to each. What cable did you use to connect the Pylontech Bank? (Pictures will be great) Quote
capkasa Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Website typo: "RS3232". Otherwise it looks great. Quote

Novarein Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 @yani Works great so far!! When I change the BULK and FLOAT settings, it resets them to 53.2 if the inverter is set to PYL. Im assuming it doesn't override the PYL settings therefore the setting must be set to USE in order to override any of the PYL default settings? Quote
Bloubul7 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Correct 12 hours ago, Novarein said: @yani Works great so far!! Correct, when in PYL mode the BMS overrides the Bulk & Float settings. Quote
Marco Mocellin Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Hi all, I'm writing just to share with the forum the great experience I had with the software Yanislav developed. It's called MultiSIBControl and you can download it here: http://www.multisibcontrol.net Some days ago Yanislav released the R8 version updated after the work he did with me for solving some issues my EASUN inverters had in serial communication. In particular the software now manages perfectly even "difficult" inverters and, like in my case, strange behaviour regarding serial numbers and parallel inverters configuration. By the way I encourage all you to download and try it because do not requires external hardware, is light and very fast, and surely is more attractive then the old fashion "WatchPower" standard software. I want to thank Yanislav for the assistance he gave to me and the great job he did day by day in solving my inverters issue. Great idea and great job! I have a copy working on my system, so feel free to ask or discuss about it. Marco Paulsoo, Deon in ZA, Plaashaas and 2 others 5 Quote
JohannC Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Hi Yani Thanks for the great software. I like the layout and how light it runs. Would it be possible to add a scheduled switch to both battery and grid modes. This would then make this perfect for my application where I still rely on the grid at night (battery is mostly there for load shedding and to absorb some high intermittent loads during the day). Thanks Johann Quote
Novarein Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Hi Yani Just some updates on the stability of the USB comms etc I have an issue where my PYLON batteries after few hours or after a day or so randomly stops reading from the RJ11/console to RS232/USB. At times i just reselect the COMS port in the settings, but mostly I have to unplug the USB or Restart the App or even reboot the PC. This mostly occurs when I plug another USB device on the same pc, it drops the reading from the PYLON comms I am running the new version Release 8 Thanks again, other thank that its great so far! R Cerva Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Hi. Hope you well. I'm trying to make up cable for the RS485 to connect with pylontech and the software. According to pylontech the rj45 port pin is 6 gnd, 7 RS485A and 8 RS485B. I've connected it like that and the 9 pin its connected to pin 5,2 and 3 for the above rj45 connection. Is it correct or how must I make up the cable. Thanks. Quote
Shadders Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 To communicate with the software posted above you will need a RS485 port on your PC or a USB to RS485 converter like this https://www.robotics.org.za/W17286?search=rs485 or https://www.amazon.com/EZSync-RS485-USB-RS485-WE-compatible-EZSync010/dp/B010KJSCR8/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=usb+to+rs485+cable&qid=1601969179&sr=8-3 If you are wanting to plug your pylontech into your inverter that's a different story and I'd need details on what inverter you are using to advise what next to do. Shaunte Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Hello to all Reading about the new software (MultiSIBcontrol) and connecting to a King Axpert inverter and pylontec battery. As most would know the standard setup does not work as the king inverter cannot read the correct SOC of the pylontec battery and this causes the system to shut down prematurely. We also seem to have the Error 69 on the inverter when connecting directly to the pylontec battery. I have tried all options/ways to get rid of this error or notification. I have some questions regarding the settings on the King inverter when using the multiSIBcontrol software. We have a King 5KVA axpert inverter (1 unit) and would like to setup the software to interface between the inverter and the pylontec battery (US3000 1 unit). this inverter is used without solar panels. It is basically a backup power for a home. What settings need to be on the King Inverter in terms of the battery setup? Some say keep the "PYL” settings and other say use the "USE" settings. Do we use the default setting for the battery and inverter on the MultiSIBcontrol software? Apparently, the software will auto find the correct inverter type and battery type. has anybody got an instruction sheet for this setup? Very new to this Thanks Shaun Quote

My King ran perfectly fine (no errors) with the cable between the Inverter and battery with the mode set to PYL. Also what version of software are you running? Quote
R Cerva Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Hi. I've got 3 x 5kw Mecer invertors with 8 x Pylontachs. The invertors don't have the PYL setting. Must I upgrade the invertor software? Also the cable pin config for the dh485 to serial to use with the Multisub software. Want to use the 485 port on Pylontech. Using console port with ICC software but not stable anymore. That's why I'm trying the new software. Thanks Quote

Not just to get the PYL setting, since it seems you want to use other ways to talk to the battery's BMS. But pre-PYL firmware is getting old; you may want to update at some point just to get some bug fixes. There are a few in the works (71.93 and 71.94), but they don't seem to address all the problems as yet. Quote

Yes, the 71.93 and 71.94 that I mentioned are King firmwares. Though Axpert MKS II firmwares are also confusingly in the 71.xx range. Quote
VicVic Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Standard Pylon console to USB and Inverter USB works fine. Even picks up the battery cycles Quote
