December 12, 20241 yr Hi All I have deye 5kv hybrid inverter and Volta stage1 battery setup , When the battery reaches 100 % and I switch off eskom power to run on the battery the electricity switches off when trying to run the battery. I noticed the following: While Charging BMS shows the battery info @97% The BMS info @ 100% Please can I get assistance to sort this out or did anyone else experience this.

You could possibly try running the battery in percentage(%) mode instead of lithium mode. It is on the battery screen. Another thing you can try is to disconnect the comms cable between the battery and inverter to check if the battery is sending bad info to the inverter. If the battery is ok, the inverter should be able to use the batteries quite easily without the comms cable. Should be a good experiment.
December 12, 20241 yr I would guess that the battery is disconnecting due to a cell over-voltage event.
January 6, 20251 yr strange the bms has two sets of mosfets one for charge and the other for discharge the fact that its switching off both tells us its a major error .. it could just be a balance issue ...but do a discharge test see if it rates to full capacity and then charge up but use manual voltage instead when charging ..use 55.2 volts bulk/float slightly less for the test and see if it does the same thing .

January 6, 20251 yr Am getting the same issue with the Solis S6 6kw and FreedomWon eTower and the message is HighVolt BMS(332931). Battery goes into fault mode (red) and if there's load shedding, I lose power to my essential load. This is happening at 100% SoC. Can anyone help resolve this issue @Steve87?? To get battery to restart is a headache and can involve hours especially if pv is low, now that we have some rains and overcast days. Is it an inverter issue; comms from inverter to battery issue; or a FreedomWon eTower battery issue; or a Grid issue? This happened at 00:40hrs when my grid was showing 247-250v on my AVS reading. HELP PLEASE. Edited January 6, 20251 yr by Moffat Added photo
January 7, 20251 yr @P1000 has the answer, but to confirm this you need to get connected via a laptop to confirm that the issue lies on the battery side. In any event the BMS is asking the inverter to make charger decisions, the inverter is obliged to follow what is requested. Once the Inverter let's say charges to say 55V for eg. Then the BMS can complain if a cell reaches an overvoltage condition. So if you are sure you have established Comms positively, then this above scenario could very well be the case. But remember as well that this is an E-Tower & the Comms protocols are not the same as he FW Lite batteries. I have commissioned a site that used a SVolt battery & it worked using Pylontech as it's battery Comms protocol with the S6. So keep this in mind.
January 7, 20251 yr a lot of Volta problems seems to be related to bms firmware updates Edited January 7, 20251 yr by Tariq .
January 7, 20251 yr The reason I mentioned the above post is because the E-Tower is a pace BMS based Battery. It's definitely not an Orion BMS like the Lite version of the FW battery. I think this may be the cause of the issue. The SVolt has the same Pace BMS, however, the pace is highly configurable so it can be setup to operate as a Pylontech protocol or as anything else as required. However, I would not think that it will share the same details as the FreedomWon Lite range & the Solis Battery options for FW Lite as installed in the firmware, I don't think covers both protocols but I could be wrong. Unfortunately I have never paired an E-Tower with a Solis yet. So unfortunately this is a rabbit hole of sorts.
January 7, 20251 yr On this Volta BMS issue, the BMS tells the inverter it wants to charge to 56.8V & if this is a 16s battery that's a bit too high in my opinion. Because 56.8V ÷ 16 cells = 3.55V. That assumes that all cells are very well balanced. Remember these cells can only get to 3.65V without some issues and above 3.45V per cell the cells start to show the imbalance because we at the top end of the charge curve. So again I don't know how configurable these Volta BMSs are but if it's stuck pushing it's way up to 56.8V I'm afraid that problem will persist. I don't know the Volta BMS cell balancing strategy but if it's passive that battery will not be useable with those battery Comms without some hardware intervention. Last resort take it to the supplier...To make the battery useful to get power from it revert to No Comms, charge bulk to 54V & Float at 54V. Cut off at 48V. That will keep the battery working & keep the cells & BMS happy. However, you will no clue what's the SoC unless these is a small bar indicator. Never been exposed to Volta so forgive my ignorance.

If your Discharge current limit drops to 0A you effectively cant draw anything from the battery as this is what the BMS is telling the Inverter it can and cant do . Discharge current limit should only ever be effected when the battery SOC falls below 15% .. Prevents High discharge from taking place on an empty battery ( cells at low soc can fall off the discharge curve easily ) It doesnt drop to 0A until the battery is empty at 0-5% SOC . So this is weird for a battery with a 97% SOC..
January 24, 20251 yr Thanks @ZUbair1710, For all who are also in this scenario, do you mind sharing what Volta F/W you where on, and what is the version of F/W now.
