  • Hi. Please can you send me your inverter serial number so I can do a firmware update for you.

  • yay, success... to all those that said, or even thought, the CT was incorrectly installed you were correct😳 I finally got a chance after work this evening to get into the main DB, what I call m

  • Just for interest and for any others that may be wanting to extend their CT coil cable... As part of checking the CT itself this evening I went back into the ceiling to check the cable there too as

From that first flow pic the ct coil is def working . Do you have no non essential loads? The little house should be showing your non essential draw when there is some , if it does then its working like it should.

Hi @Nexuss, pics should be below.
It does seem to be getting readings, the bread maker is on while it's getting these readings now.

This is certainly is looking correct. CT is correct, Battery is working, Load good, Strange how you have no use on the house like Nexuss said>>??? This is now taken in the day and the other was when there is no PV voltage (Watts) I am keen to know what your digital said the usage from grid was compared to what its showing here. Your 100w is working as well, thats good that I learned as well from Kieth. Also maybe go back to the evening when there is no PV. That certainly did not add up to me.

Ct is looking like it's connected correctly on the inverter.

Maybe double check the wire it's clamped to. It should only be on the live wire coming out of your municipal meter going to your main DB.

The other option is to buy another CT coil from AC/DC or ask your supplier to swap it out as the CT itself could be faulty.

yeah, the CT is clamped around the live wire from the municipal meter, after the main isolator and the earth leakage but before any breakers in the main DB.

I don't have much not on the inverter, mainly things like stove, kettle, toaster, dish washer, geyser and a few other things.
I'm thinking of turning on the oven and then checking the readings as that should draw a reasonable amount...

I am not 100% sure if its correct but my ct is before the entire non essential circuit,ie main 60 amp breaker and earth leakage. Yes a quick toaster/kettle run should tell you some figures on the non essential side on flow diagram.Edit on second thought , yes pretty sure it needs to be before your entire non essential db.

Mine as well. On the live before any of the breakers on the main DB.

Looking at this again now and the numbers don't add up.

Panels are providing 392w and 73w of this is going to the batteries leaving 319w for the load.

The CT is reporting grid usage of 389w but is in fact providing 562w to the load.

Most likely explanation is that the CT coil is installed at the incorrect location.

Another possible solution is that the firmware needs to be updated. I recall seeing one instance on this forum where a firmware update fixed the CT coil readings. Can recall the post now.

okay, so the sun is down and PV is zero, battery is not supplying (expected it to be but it's not).
there are two sets of pics below, flow chart and the 6-grid info.
The set with the red 02 at the top is what it's showing with probably nothing running in the house on the non-essential side and the set with the red 03 at the top is when I turned on my workbench lights and bench grinder (non-essential loads) and the CT does register more current...

My Understanding is this should be before any  Earth or circuit breaker but after the municipality meter/CB in feed. Like the other guys here, mine is before anything in the DB board. I had to extend the incoming *RED cable, and I am only using the "red", to accommodate the CT around it prior to the earth leakage. Our house is three phase so putting it on the red before was important to work properly. My thoughts are I want you , Sunsynk to cover all non essential circuits not configured to the load also , feed back to incoming grid but not past CT clamp expect if battery needs from PV or Grid. In my  case this is, Geyser when on Eskom, pool pump, now running in the day and not at night, borehole pump, oven. My self usage today was 95 percent on solarman. Regards

I'll see if I can move the CT to before the main isolator and earth leakage, the main DB is very old and not much space to do much...

regarding the firmware, my inverter is running "COMM:e416 - MCU:2155", have no idea how that relates to any current versions as I can't find version info on the Sunsynk.org site.
I have submitted a request to Sunsynk for a version upgrade but have not hear from them yet.

Everything here is correct but you are not feeding back to the house. Suspicion is CT clamp wrong position or house is powering on somewhere else,  say another phase.

yea pretty sure either your inverter and or ct coil is not wired correctly, just to clarify because i think i got confused between members here , are you RhysMcW feeding back to grid with bi directional meter ? surely not if you have 100w on zero export? Can you post a pic of your system mode screen.

Just played around with some settings on my inverter ,if you tick solar export when bat full it will draw a constant 50ish watts on ct to prevent backfeed ontop of your 100w zero export figure.

Yes that is definitely old firmware.

I think that's old firmware. I have the 8kw sunsynk so not sure what the current firmware is for the 5kw sunsynk.

@Leshenhas been extremely helpful in getting firmware updates as he has direct contact with sunsynk support.

yep, that's me, but don't have a bi-directional meter but do want to feed to the house when excess PV available.
I've just changed my system mode settings to the suggestion by @YellowTapemeasure a few posts back

Ah ok , in that case you definitely need to remove the solar export to grid tick(thats for selling to the grid) . It will automatically feed excess pv to the house if you have the "limit to load " unticked. Secondly i would set a lower soc than 100 for during the day , something like 40-80% . then the battery will charge up to 100% and when you have power demand above pv capability at the time the battery will supplement to whatever load needs the power . this way you dont use the grid for any peak draws above what your pv can supply at the time.
