hi there guys. i have a geyserwise max geyser conversion installed by solarguru for the past 3 years. its been running flawlessly for the whole time. but now on the start of Easter weekend the geyserwise panel started to give me a E9 error. the problem is solarguru is closed for the Easter weekend. is here anybody that has had a similar error before? what was the issues you found? the panel shows my geyser temp at 55degrees, then the outside solar panel is 137degrees. the pump icon is on, but it doesnt circulate the water. the water should circulate if there is a difference of 7 degrees between the geyser and outside panel. am i looking at a faulty pump? or are there o…

Hey all, Anyone else had any impacts with the lightning earlier this evening in Jhb? I’m on the West Rand, felt like we took the hit directly it was that loud! One of the recurring solar topics here is what the impact is of temperature on MPPT Voltage, and choosing your panels' Voc with some spare gap in theory to the inverter's maximum input limit. I'm just wondering whether the current cold snap could bring a surge of failures in some parts of SA. For example, Johannesburg's forecast for Tuesday morning is showing freezing temperatures overnight, with early morning sunshine around 7am-9am. Are there any folks around those areas with longer strings of around 450Voc that could share their real Voltage measurements and/or experience in these conditions?

But the strange weather patterns we've have had the past couple years makes me think that something like this is imminent. I remember the floods we have in 1984, a bus was swept of one of the main roads close to our current house (we lived elsewhere back then) and swept it right into a dam, about 600m+ away!

We've had some decent rain the past week or so, and I see there's more to come next week as well. Today is quite misty and I see that my inverter keeps switching between Eskom and Solar - perhaps I should add a couple more panels or upgrade to a GTI, have yet to decide, but first we need to finish our house renovations and some other new projects I'm starting in February. For now we just scale down a little bit and all it well But, how's everyone else's solar systems coping in this weather?

Normally by 10 am there is enough excess energy to power my 1500W 200 litre geyser. If I look at my production I can already see it has reached a plateau at 10 am this morning. Is anyone else experiencing a noticeable effect of the solar eclipse today?

Yesterday's hail in Brakpan, killed 4 evacuated tubes on my solar geyser, 14 on a friends geyser, but no damage to my solar panels. I went up on the roof this morning, expecting some serious damage to the panels, but fortunately nothing. My aircon split unit was pummelled to bits, the neighbour has no whole windows on the one side of his house. Hail as large as chicken eggs and no damage to the solar panels? I'm impressed.

I've never complained about cloudy days in the past, but since I've installed PV panels I don't like them - the sun must either be shining or it must rain (because we need the rain), but these cloudy days... I don't like them.
