  1. Hey All I would like to know your experiences with supercaps, gel batteries or similar and pylontechs. The supercaps from killowatt labs look promising but pricey. Then you Pylontechs My fear is have to replace Gel batteries every 2 to 3 years, So I need something that will last longer keeping in mind that I want to go off grid with a hybrid inverter and solar

The system is now running for 2 months now I'm so impressed with the money I already save on my utility bill, though I have a question, according to the specs for my 2 x Narada 48vdc 200ah Lithium lifepo4 10kw batteries, it must give me 10-12 hours power not sure it will manage that.I keep my baterys between 46v and 49v with the inverter settings. With a load usage of (1.28kwh to 1.57kwh) my baterys give me 4 Hours service before it have to use utility to charge for 20 min again from 46v to 49v to start with another 4 hours service again.Want to know if this is great or is the baterys bad if I don't get the 10 hours with the 2 baterys if I have loadsheding.Ore must I redu…

  3. Hi everyone, I have 2x Growatt SPF 5000 ES connected in parallel set to charge from both the PV and the utility power (when available) I live in a country where the power utility is available 3-5 hours/day (1-2h in the morning, 1-2h in the afternoon and 1-2h in the middle of the night). During the middle of the night, my batteries run out of power and are turned off since my cutoff voltage is set to 44V and the utility is not available to recharge the batteries. After this, when the utility power is back, one of the inverters (the host) goes on to start recharging and giving power to the house while the other (slave 1) either never goes on or ta…

Hello everyone, I am using Pylontech UP5000 batteries and are obviously trying to make sure that we treat them 'well' so that they last the longest time possible. The operating temperature is between -10 and +60 degrees Celsius, although the design life is measured at 25 degrees. We all understand that higher temperatures are not good for electronics, and that if you are running the batteries at 45 degrees, they would typically not last as long. Question is, should we aim to keep the batteries as cool as possible (15-20 degrees) to prolong life, or is this also not good for batteries, similar to higher temperatures. Happy to hear your thoughts on this one.

  6. Good day, I have picked up on a issue I am having where, I am running the Pylontech on battery mode and then for a second or 2 the battery voltage goes all the way down to 44volts, this then causes the Inverter to go back to Grid. I have manually tested this by checking both ICC and Watchpower, and on ICC setting the inverter mode to Eco and then to battery. now this does not happen every time but each time I am happily on battery mode and then the next I am back to Utility mode. I tested it and it does the same. another thing yesterday when this happened the inverter restarted and all power went off, I did smell some burning wires f…

Evening guys ive got a 5kw hybrid kodak with a up5000 battery using the bms cable that came with the inverter so far no communication issues at all. At this stage the battery is just for loadshedding or cable theft..😂 so the grid is my main supply to loads.. to the question.. so ive noticed the battery charges about once day.. even when I havent used it and the battery level indicator lightd never switch off.. should I switch the battery of to preserve it until the crap starts again.. or will it be fine?.. I dont want to shorten the battery lifetime unnecessarily.. im new to these fancy things and not very clued up with them.. some help …

  11. Hi any help would be appreciated, I added 3x US2000c batteries (second hand) to my original 3x US2000 stack but can't seem to get any version of Batteryview (tried 3.0.24, 3.0.26 & 3.028) or Mutisibcontrol to connect with the US2000c batteries. I can connect to the the original US2000 batteries but not any of the US2000c. Is there something different about connecting to the C versions?

  13. Good day I currently have a Voltronic Infini V1 5k Inverter running with 8 x 6volt Lead Acid batteries being monitored by a Victron BMV 702 and ICC software. I am now replacing the old faithful lead acids with a BSL 6.4kw Lithium battery. My question is, should I keep the ICC and BMV 702 to monitor the battery, or replace the ICC software with Solar Assist to use the actual BMS of the battery? Not sure if this will be better or keeping the BMV 702 measuring the capacity with the shunt or utilizing the battery's BMS with solar assist as the inverter according to me would not communicate.

  14. Afternoon All, So, Solar Assistant does not allow me to view the two different LiBSA batteries I have installed due them not being supported by the software. In view of this, I decided to have a more regular look at the actual BMS screen on each battery and found that the battery cycles of each battery are different in the sense that the Slave sometimes adds an extra cycle count in a day. There is no pattern to this but you can see from the graph below that the Slave is now approaching the cycle count of the Master. Please note that the Slave was installed a good 3 months after the Master so this means that the double count has been happening since the install o…

Good morning Iv got a small solar setup with a 30a charge controller, 300w 24v panel open circuit voltage is 44v, 4 100ah gel batteries connected in series parallel to make in theory 24v and 200ah or 4800wh, victron bmv702 connected directly to the battery bank, and an 800w victron inverter, all linked as close as possible to each other. While monitoring iv got TV running off the system and router for internet with no solar input (at night) I'm drawing between 100w and 150w. With this load I seem to be getting to 22v after only 4 hours. That's only 600wh and the inverter shuts off from low SoC. The batteries are new. Can anyone give me advice why calculations an…

Hi all... Hope that someone here has some advice for me. The background to my issue is that i should have enough battery power to last 4hrs, but am losing power off at around 1h55 (5 min short of the typical load shedding time). I have 4 x vision 200ah 12v batteries, which should last almost 5 hours with 1kw draw. (4 x 200ah x 12v = 9600kwh. 9600kwn x 50% = 4800kwh usable = 4.8h at 1kw draw). My Inverter is an imeon 3.6, which i have been very happy with. I know that these are not well liked in general, and definitely not well supported in SA, but it has served me well for the last 6 years with these batteries. I took voltage readings while the batte…

I decided to do a load test with these results using a 24V Axpert 3kva clone. AC power used by a very old power hungry fridge/freezer. Power used=103.33W per hour. Power used over 30hrs:2.7kWh Add inverter self consumption:0.75kWh Minus PV charging:0.35kWh Power from batteries:3.1kWh which comes to 3.1kWh. Thus each battery provided 1.55kWh. At end of test the 2 batteries were at 25.2V. This leaves some more power available but stopped the test. At a average voltage of 13.1V comes to 118Ah. Prior to test the batteries were charged to 13.9V each (27.8V) at which point the current has dropped to about 3A which implies they were not 100% fu…

Hi, so I am on the research path to find the right batteries to go with a sunsynk 8kw inverter. My supplier has sunsynk sslb1 5.12kw batteries in stock for the same price that I can get a pylon 4.8kw battery for. now for easy of use a lot of people have suggested the pylontech and Hubble but no one actually uses the sunsynk batteries. I’ve been reading up about the testing being done in Australia regarding the pylon batteries and to me with my limited knowledge looks pretty good. Only issue I have with pylon is that I don’t see the 4.8kw battery on there products list on their web page which leads me to believe that the 4.8kw that I can buy here in SA are discon…

The pylontech batteries are supplied with 25mm2 cables. How many pylontech US5000 can be connected in parallel with the supplied cables as the more batteries you connect will increase the amperage and there is no way in increasing the cables due the the way pylontech batteries connect.

Hi everyone. I recently came into the possession of 400 x Panasonic NCR18650PF. They in varying states with the bulk of them being good with only a few cycles and some of them being completely dead which I am recovering. Because they are used I of course need to test them. The final intention is to have a 24v system running in 7S57P with a 60A Daly BMS. Now, I am struggling greatly to find a local supplier of a tester that can properly load test and determine accurate capacity. I am looking for either : Opus BT-C3100 Liitokala Lii-500 Anything else that can reliably test cells

Hi all. While waiting for registration approval on business mail address, could someone assist with following please. Client installation currently lead acid batteries with 2 x outback charge controllers connected to MLT 12 KVA inverter DC bus. Concern when upgrading to Li-Ion batteries and setting up with battery charge setting is that in the unlikely event that Li-Ion battery internal switch should open, disconnecting from DC bus due to what ever reason in future is that charge controller would still see voltage on DC bus because of capacitors in MLT inverter and keep on charging and damage inverter.
