Evening, I took delivery of a Revolt 12 volt 80ah(1kw) lithium battery from Takealot a few days back. Unfortunately the battery is no longer supplied by them so cannot go back and confirm they stated a Mecer 1200va was compatible with this battery. I hooked it up anyway and it showed battery at 75% then in about 5 mins went to 100% but trickle charged for an hour. I ran a loadshedding test with about 150-200 watt being pulled but inverter stayed at 100% after 2.5 hours, i stopped the test and then only inverter showed 75% remaining. It took 4-5 hrs to get it back to 100% before inverter went into standby. ive since disconnected it and bought …

Hey Everyone, While looking at various batteries and their specifications online I noticed on the battery spec and datasheet that hubble has a built in fire suppression system. I'm curious as to how this works? Does the battery release fire suppression gas if it detects a fire? I find this particularly interesting and wonder if one can use this to some form of an advantage to renegotiate the insurance premium for specified / insured residential solar systems. I would not be surprised if COCT and insurance companies make this a sub standard requirement for residential solar systems with battery backup in the near future.

Hello. I had a Pylontech UP5000 that got discharged untill it when into alarm mode last night but now it's not charging. I'm using a Koda5kva VMIII inverter. Is there a way to switch the battery back on. Thank you.

  4. A friend has just bought 2 x 14.3kW MD Solar Batteries and has asked my help to connect them to his existing system. It looks like the Logger V2 is required to get the Battery Management System working and to communicate with the inverters (2 x Axpert 5kVA 4kW 60A Solar with about 10kW of PV) has anyone here had experience with this configuration? And would it be better to get the SMH from Centurion to control the system? I have watched e few YouTube videos from MD Solar but none of them show the actual connection to the inverters.

Good day. Almost time for a new battery. Found this one on the Powerstore. Looks well made, and cheaper than the 4.8kw Pylon. Any feedback will be appreciated.

  6. Hi. Need advise on new 48v lithium battery please. (Current battery is 48v, however brand unknown. Was installed with purchase of house. Battery drops voltage to 46.2v immediately when Eskom shut's down.) The numerous options, specifications, brands etc. is confusing to the layman. 1. Considering Blue Nova BN52V-100-5.2k DU or Hubble AM-2. Consideration due to after-sales support being local and the battery being 1c. Is the price premium over e.g. Pylontech or Shoto that are 0.5c (as I understand) worth it in a domestic household environment.?. 2. Number of cycles on battery - What constitutes a cycle? Various conflicting info received, e.g. if voltage …

  7. First time post. The manual for this inverter says "recommended battery capacity" for number of parallel inverters 2 = 200AH 3 = 400AH 4 = 400AH 5 = 600AH 6 = 600AH I have 2 units in parallel and want to connect 2x 150ah (48V, 7,68kWh) batteries - any reason I shouldn't? Optionally I could get 2x 100ah (48V, 5,12kWh) Not sure if the manual is providing minimum recommended levels or actual values.

I spotted some of the guys on the group have build there own lithium/LifePo4 battery setups. I'm busy looking down this rabbit hall to do my own setup to and looks really nice because there is a lot of options. The guys that have played with this sort of stuff, share a bit of your knowledge and findings/experience and DIY photos please and what sort of BMS you using. I Spotted that @Coulomb actually have build his own BMS with someone a few years ago.

  9. I have recently been given an inverter with batteries. It's a mercer 5kva. It was used with solar. But I am just using it from grid to charge batteries for load shedding. I have 8 x 12v 100ah lead acid batteries connected into two 48v sets. I have charged all the batteries individually before connecting up. I have the flat charge set default at 54v and bulk charge is default 56v The inverter beeps at 45v and cuts off at 42v. After an hour of a load of 400w the inverter cuts off. I was expecting longer then that. Atleast to last the 3 hours of load shedding. Is there…

Hi all... New to solar, just had a 5kw sunsynk installed with a 5kw Hubble AM2. What i have noticed in the 2 days that it is operating is that the battery will charge, once past 80% (which is set in the setup menu to charge to 80% and use grid) it will use the battery to supplement the household load when solar is inefficient and minimise the amount of power taken from GRID. This makes sense to me from an economy standpoint, consuming stored, but does this affect the battery life? Above you can see battery charging, then there is a spike in load, it supplements with battery and recharges again when spike subsides. Question, is this …

Hi, could some please check my settings on my inverter for my batteries. I’m looking for longevity settings not really peak performance settings. I’m more worried about the absorption, float and equalization settings as I don’t want to push the batteries to hard.. I set my charging amps to 100 because I thought it might prolong the battery life if I charge it at a lower amperage? Thoughts? many thanks 3 x 100ah sunsynk batteries (sslb1) 8kw sunsynk inverter. running as a ups for now as I don’t have my panels installed but will probably run my essentials loads constantly from the batteries from tonight. Also is it a good idea to get your batteries…

  13. I have a 5Kw inverter connected to 4 150ah Tubular deep cycle batteries. Battries are not even a month old and shows 100% health. It is used in case of main power supply faliure. The batteries without any load show 56 volts. But when the load is above 1.5 kw the inverter says voltage drop and it shows a level below 48 volts and at around 2.0 kw load the inverter shuts down. I am unable to use the full capacity of my inverter. Is there something i could do about it?

  15. Started by Don B. Cilly,

I really have searched here and pretty much everywhere... the more I search, the more confused I get. I asked for a 100A BMS with active balancer for 8s (24V). The vendor suggests a JK-BD6A20S10P. $65, which sounds good. Except, it has pins for 20 cells, not 8. Trying to find out the proper way to connect just 8 cells, I really get confusing and conflicting information. Some people say, just connect the first 8 pins. Some say, yes, but connect the last pin (B8), to B1 as well. Like so: But then some say, pretty much, No! Don't do that! If you do that the BMS will shut off, you'll cause a chain reaction which will EMP everything for a 69 miles radius, yo…

Good Morning to ALL Forum Members, My 4P4S Gels are nearing the end of their life and I'm putting together a LiFePo4 14.3kw Battery pack for myself. I have all the hardware - enclosure, cable, lugs, BMS with LCD screen, breakers, fuses and everything else and now just looking for 16 of the EVE LF280K cells. Anyone know of a local supplier in Cape Town that has stock of these cells? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  18. Good evening Hoping for some clarity on a pair of Revov 12.8V batteries run in series and connected to a Mecer 2400/1200 inverter. The inverter charges at max 20A. Will the BMS of these work with the Mecer units? https://www.avico.pro/products/copy-of-mecer-ivr-2400lbks-24v-power-inverter-with-battery-100ah-12v?variant=31851668471888&currency=ZAR&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=gs-2019-02-28&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=CjwKCAjwt7SWBhAnEiwAx8ZLaljLKyWPeQpFCKFCt4wy4unPbrAI5xyPplCQjooHb8n_OCSWOtMEyhoC-vQQAvD_BwE

  19. Hi, I'm new to this forum and hope that someone can explain my problem/not-problem. I've upgraded from an Axpert 3Kva Inverter(no CAN connection) with a single 24V Pylontech UP2500 battery to a LUXPowerTek SNA5000 with a 48v SHOTO 5.1Kwh battery with CAN connection. CAN Cable correctly made according to Luxpower Manual. On my old system I used Whatchpower 1.4 with a USB to Serial connection to the RS232 port. It showed me charging to 100% and it stayed 100 until load-shedding after which it discharge to about 92% with my usage and re-charge to 100% when AC is restored. All good and normal. My NEW system has WiFi connection to LuxpowerView (online webs…

  20. Hi, yes i’s a noob… we are looking at installing a phocos hybrid inverter, they have only pylontech as a compatible BMS. the supplier is suggesting BYD box lite. Which seems to be fine, we just have to set the battery up manually on inverter, so no bms comm.s. so it seems like there is no real big issue with doing that, but i imagine there has to be some drawbacks in what the inverter can 1 tell you about the battery, and 2 how well it knows what it must give or take to/from the battery… can anyone tell me or point me to info that would help understand the drawbacks of not having compatibility?

  22. Hi Guys, A friend of a friend asked me for some advice to replace their old AGM batteries on a 24V PV system. I found it interesting how the installer wired the battery bank. Attached a picture of the setup. There are 6 x FIAMM 12FLB350 cells @ 95Ah ea. 5 of them are wired in parallel and the parallel circuit wired in series with a single cell. The obvious reason to do this is to increase the Ah rating of the system, maintaining 24V. Is this something generally done? In my mind that 6th cell is going to be overworked and will last much shorter than the rest of the bank. Comment / insight appreciate please.

  23. Dear all. I have a couple of Meccer SOL-I-AX-5M inverters in parallels. They used to be connectes to lead/acid batteries. I'm considering upgrading to lithium batteries. The installers I'm in discussion with is saying that the Meccer SOL-I-AX-5M can't deal with the lithium battery controller and that it means using those inverters and lithium batteries will void the batteries warranty. Does that make sense to you? Are they simply trying to sell me a new inverter? Best regards.

  24. I stay in Johannesburg and I want to purchase a reputable 4.8kWh or 5.1kWh Lithium Battery at a place that has them on stock. Please assist with recommendations. Pylontech, Dyness, etc. I have a KODAK Solar Off-Grid Inverter OGS5.6 5.6kW 48V.

Hey guys, I finally got Batteryview running on our US3000A...some questions (@Youda, you seem to be the expert on this :-) I have Batteryview Version B2.0. Seems newer versions give more info, but I cannot find a newer version. Anyone got a link to a newer version of Batteryview? Main reason for connecting via Batteryview was to search the event history / event data, however it comes up empty. We did have the battery shut down once due to excessive power draw during loadshedding - granted, this was a few months ago now, but seeing as no events listed at all I'd have thought it would have stored this event even if old? Reason for…
