🤩 Looks like a beast - can only imagine the specifications and weight associated to this inverter.

Really glad to see SunSynk extending the options for single phase capacity.

It's an absolute monster of a unit. Two battery inputs, 18000w solar input, 3 MPPTs, and 200A passthrough current. Can have the entire home on the essential load.

Wow that is a really awesome looking unit, looks like it could be expensive though haha .Will be interesting to see the price  difference vs paralleling the smaller capacity inverters.

That's a very good point . I would personally lean towards 2 8kw inverters vs the 16kw just to have some backup should one go faulty, unless the 16kw unit is quite a bit cheaper than the 2 8kw units i dont see why you would go for it unless you are going for 2 or more 16 kw inverters in parallel. That being said you dont see many Sunsynk inverter failures on the forums.

Nope, two units means twice as much can go wrong, then you only have half capacity. I would love one of these units, but would wire in 20kWp of solar for those overcast days. :)

I would imagine the majority of residential homes are using single inverters.

Pricing is/has been released if you haven’t seen.

2x8KW is more expensive so I don’t know if it’s worth it.

8KW is like R29K ex and the 16KW is R53.5K ex

So you would save like R5K ex going with a 16Kw but one would also save on cabling, isolators, busbars, battery cables and labour etc by going with one inverter instead of 2.

Personal preference I guess.

The extra cost puts you in the position that if 1 fails you can still have a working system at 8kw. Having only 1 you are stuck while it is being repaired. 😊

Installed one for a customer and is a beaut for people who want a whole house on essential loads or where the inverter is too far from the db for a ct to be installed

From those with experience using the Sunsynk brand, any reasons not to opt for a Sunsynk inverter / any inverter brand you would recommend instead based on your experience?

Reliability and after sales support (also for monitoring, optimisation and answering queries) are crucially important to me.

Sunsynk ticks a lot of the checkboxes and in my book offers a very good "design for longevity"/cost balance. There is really very little that competes with Sunsynk in the 8-16kW market.

I have a 5KW Sunsynk and am very happy with the unit, the only problem I have is if you do need assistance from Sunsynk they only want to assist approved Sunsynk installers. I found this out when I installed s 8 KW unit and just wanted to confirm string voltage with Sunsynk. I was than advised to contact my installer but I am the installer.

This is a pity. I can understand that the manufacturer may want to limit the amount of support requests, but there is also an opportunity for more substantial, direct feedback and eventually product improvement and customer satisfaction, when having contact with the end-user. The installer would mostly be the middle man, acting as a relay, delaying the process if the manufacturer has to answer in any case.

Thinking of my interaction with multiple installers, once they got paid and the installed system is mostly functional, getting them to prioritise queries, especially for optimisation instead of alarms, while they're busy making money from the next installs, would be a protracted if not futile exercise. This is where direct contact with the manufacturer could be pivotal to a good user experience.

Currently I have a Goodwe ES inverter and am in regular contact with their support team. They differentiate between installer and end-user support. Now some might say they don't need to contact the manufacturer for support because their inverters work. So does mine, but by monitoring and discussing potential performance enhancements with the manufacturer, we're close to realising a 10%+ performance increase from the standard configuration during deployment.

At the moment I have an ongoing support request with them that will determine whether I remain a Goodwe user or need to change brands, hence investigating Sunsynk. How is the fan noise with a Sunsynk inverter?

Some friends and family have Victron Multiplus II inverters and the fans are disappointingly loud for such premium grade pieces of equipment, which really could have included premium grade, quieter fans, especially since those do exist. My inverter is situated right next to a home office and the Goodwe is completely silent, which was one of the reasons for getting it in the first place.

It is concerning to see SunSynk limiting the response to certified installers, as mentioned, they do not always see installations through to the end and thus missing the finer details required in many aspects.  They will definitely learn a great deal from listening to some high end self installers, who assess the units on an ongoing basis.

As for the noise on the SunSynk fan noise - expect this depends on the model, as I see many models and even versions thereof have changed the layout (fans and heatsinks).
I am running the latest 12kW 3P unit and runs majority of the time with no Fan, however the minute the load suddenly increases (>4.5kW), the low speed fans kick in, which are not to loud.  However once charging from PV at anywhere above 80A, the second level (High speed AC Temp >51deg) fans kickin and these would be quite load in an enclosed area/room (Battery Bank of 4 x Hubble AM2).
See it has specifications as Cooling: Smart cooling  Noise: <30dB on local provider data sheets.

Its a pity that they stuck with the 48V battery system. They should have gone with HV batteries. Imagine the cable thickness between battery and inverter. 275 Amp will heat up cables leading to efficiency loss.

The higher current also equates to bigger components in the inverter that can handle the current. More efficiency loss. More thermal management.

Just my bit.

As far as customer service goes, poor start with Sunsynk unfortunately.

I emailed them on two email addresses ([email protected] & [email protected]) with some questions regarding their 8KW inverter, initial mail sent on 18 June with a reminder on 29 June.

More than two weeks later, no response... This isn't even for a problem experienced, but for a prospective buyer instead, hence a reply would be much easier to provide.

Well well well, I was looking at  "upgrading"to a Sunsynk Inverter but if they not going to give support or even reply to emails, then maybe just stick to what I have, very silly of them.

So does any one install one of them Sunsynk Max?

We looking to install one at the office before our Main UPS and the Generator for backup or support.

Still no response from the Sunsynksa.co.za team after the multiple attempts to reach them on multiple email addresses. Forwarded the same email to the Sunsynk.com team, who responded the next day, unfortunately without answering any of my questions though, but with readily available PDF product information instead. Dealbreaker for sure.

When I buy something I expect the supplier (The one I gave my money too) to be the one to give after sales service. 🤔

I don't care who the manufacturer is (besides wanting a quality item), my supplier must deal with the manufacturer if there is a problem. If the supplier goes out of business, then at least with SunSynk there are repair workshops in SA. Another plus for SunSynk is they are extremely popular currently,  and the knowledge base is growing rapidly, so any issues can be ironed out quickly.

You could maybe contact:-

Jean Joubert

Technical Manager at Sunsynk SA

https://za.linkedin.com/in/jean-joubert-2646a267

But for end customers, your supplier / installer is still the way to go.👍

Thanks for sharing TimCam. Having resellers provide sufficient after-sale service would be ideal, as that is in essence part of why they add their markup, but it's far from reality in my experience and looking at sites like Hello Peter, for many people across most industries.

In the following instances my reseller/installer couldn't help me and I ended up having to deal with the manufacturer to prevent matters getting lost in translation and spending much unnecessary time due to the middle man:

1. Vehicle purchased from a large independent car sales company (team who was servicing the extended warranty maintained a recurring problem was normal behaviour, I took direct contact with the manufacturer, who eventually managed to resolve)

2. Solar inverter (local team was helpful, but pointed to wiring problem when fix required a firmware update which I pinpointed with the manufacturer's tech support, saved the re-wiring effort) and batteries (multiple local resellers said Pylontech US3000 and UP5000 were the same apart from capacity, which was incorrect, contacted Pylontech themselves who provided confirmation of the differences in design and thus warranty)

3. Smart plugs that couldn't connect to my WiFi network, resellers blamed the wifi, then I contacted the manufacturer who confirmed Asus Smart Connect not supported by the plugs

4. Replacement projector lamp where resellers maintained the replacement bulb used was of the same specifications as the OEM. Manufacturer confirmed otherwise and bulb had to be swapped.

5. Hard drive compatibility in a surveillance DVR, which the resellers maintained would be fine, yet the drive purchased after checking with them, didn't work. Confirmed by the manufacturer not to be supported.

The good manufacturers, resellers and installers that I've dealt with, have welcomed my contact with the manufacturers for joint troubleshooting and learning between all parties. The potential of wasted time and added frustration introduced by not having direct contact with the manufacturer, is not an option for me. As it stands, this unfortunately rules out Sunsynk.

Just for anyone wondering, try the [email protected] instead of the sunsynksa.co.za email.

Last week I used this email address for a technical question I had and Corey responded within a day.

Just a quick 1

The MPPT max voltage, is that the total voltage of the 3 MPPT's or is that per MPPT.
I would like to add 27 650W Solar panels, 9 in serie per MPPT, is that correct?
