Sonoff Africa

  1. Started by gimme_power,

Hi all, I have the above switch. Will it be OK on my 3kW geyser? It is 20A so assuming it will be Ok Thanks

Hi All I want to start utilizing sonoff switches and controlling these via the App, with the idea of eventually expanding this into one of the home automation software options which can talk to the inverter. I want to start off with security outside lights and also the pool pump. 1) The idea is to have the security light switches always on (physically) and then control current via the sonoff wifi smart switch. Is this suggested? Idea being to use the current light switches as is, just wire the sonoff into the relevant circuit for the outside light on a specific switch. In most cases these are 2 gang switches with one being for an internal light and the oth…

  3. Hi all, HomeAssistant is quite stable on RPi4, and quick to switch Sonoff devices on load demand during load shedding. During the day with high solar power available, devices can run, but during the night, power management is important to extend battery life. What is your strategy on deciding which devices to switch, and on what triggers ?

  4. Started by Peter V,

Recently I have had some of my Basic R2 switches and one of my T0 US2c wall switches randomly switching off. I suspect relay damage due to load shedding but someone may have a different view. I have now as an experiment set one of the Basic R2's as follows:- Device Settings=>Power-on State=>Last State. This keeps the device on but I can hear the relay periodically switching. Any ideas?

Is there a chance Sonoff will release any devices that don't require neutrals? I am running some competitor devices currently as i don't have neutrals run to my light switches for example

  6. Started by Warlok,

Good day. Not sure if I posted this previously in the correct section, so here goes..... I purchased a Sonoff THR320D to control my geyser fitted with a Geyserwise PTC Stainless Steel 230V Electrical Geyser Element 1.5kw. I previously used a geyserwise to control the element, but the time was always a few minutes off and eventually the pc board developed a problem, hence the Sonoff THR320D. My timer is set as follows. 03:30-05:30 Monday to Friday If temp <50c switch on and if temp >55c switch off 10:00-15:30 Monday to Sunday If temp <60c switch on and if temp >65c switch off It is very important that these temps and times wor…

  7. Hi Guys I found smart breakers that run on the Sonoff ewelink software and work 100% with Home Assistant without flashing Tasmota using the Sonoff Plugin. I was running Sonoff's with SSR's wired up to them but these are much neater and the lower power one has a power meter built in as well. https://www.robofactory.co.za/home-automation/167-63a-1p-smart-circuit-breaker-with-monitoring-ewelink.html https://www.robofactory.co.za/home-automation/161-1p-smart-circuit-breaker-switch-ewelink-100a-.html Enjoy JohnB

I'm very excited for this section. I use sonoff products a lot to automate and measure my solar requirements. I also use products that are not sonoff but also use ewelink. Can we post about that here, also? For example there is a very nice 63A compact wifi breaker with din-rail compatibility that Sonoff unfortunately does not have. My first question - where can I find the 16A POW2 unit? Seems to be out of stock?

Dear @Sonoff Africa, Welcome. I think we should put together a box of Sonoff goodies to be put into the lucky draw system to celebrate your forum section! 😆 Let me know your thoughts. Sincerely Jason

Hi All, hope I can get some advice. my DB is awkwardly placed behind my fridge and my geyser breaker in down the side of my house. I have i stalled a changeover in the garage which is separate from the house for my 7.5 Iva geni (whose all this load shedding it’s pretty expensive to run) im looking to instal a small 3kva inverter in the garage on my auto changeover however I need to turn off high consumption appliances I have found the Sonoff loadshedder and wonder I I get the geyser switch if I can automate the geyser to turn off whenever there is a power outage and prehaps do the same for some plug points/ stove etc… any advice?

My lightswitches don't have a neutral. To add them I am guessing the following: Turn off mains Take off switch cover and light fixture etc Insert fish tape into conduit until it pops up at the light fixture Attach black 1.5mm wire to fish tape and pull it down Twist the new black wire together with the existing neutral at the light and reattach i haven't used a fish tape before but i assume i just buy one at the local hardware.

Hi All Wondering if any of you has a similar experience. My Sonoff pow r2 connected to my borehole pump, literally melted and caught fire. Pic below.. Ive had installed the sonoff about 7 months ago and was working great. Yesterday as the pump started up, the device caught fire. The borehole pump runs at about 7 amps and about 1600w. Is this because the borehole pump is a Inductive load? and the pow r2 cannot handle the inductive load? P.S. i also have another pow r2 controlling my pool pump, should i remove it as the same thing could happen? Is there any sonoff devices that do support an inductive load? regards Iceman

Hi all Comment please for those playing with Tasmota on Sonoff's and MQTT. Video's i'm looking at talks about stat/tele or cmd and then the name. ie stat/home/sonoff/lounge/tv - so to see all stat messages for this I would subscribe to stat/home/sonoff/lounge/tv/# tele/home/sonoff/lounge/tv - so to see all stat messages for this I would subscribe to tele/home/sonoff/lounge/tv/# cmd/home/sonoff/lounge/tv - so to see all stat messages for this I would subscribe to cmd/home/sonoff/lounge/tv/# but I can't subscribe to all home/sonoff/lounge/tv ... and then the new Tasmoto FW now supports it the other way round also, na…

Hi all, curious, who knows the Sonof devices... Some assumptions, if someone can confirm and then answer API/Data pull question. So guessing the device itself is powered from the + - feeds, each device has a MC address, that we can DHCP reserve to a IP address and give a nice name. please confirm, Now, question, I'm assuming data is pulled from the device ? via an api ? does anyone know the standards here ? does anyone maybe have a python script that does this.
