I have an ESP32 which sends all the inverter info to Home Assistant. That same ESP32 is attached to PWM pins of the fans. The ESP32 talks to Home Assistant to get the AC temp and works with that number as its base i.e. you set the low and high temp thresholds ( you make it anything that suits you ), the fans spin slower at lower temps, and ramp up as the inverter temp increases.
ESP32 powered by a 5V adapter
Fans powered by a 12V adapter ( which also powers a Wi-Fi access point, so it was there already )
Grounds of both power supplies are tied together via the ESP32 ( very NB )
To be clear, you can make something like this a standalone by adding a local temperature probe instead of getting the info from the inverter. I have such a setup cooling some other kit in a tight space

problem solved :
Seems the breaker in the picture has burned , so it was on the Fritz....going out causing the weird trips. Replaced it with a new Breaker, hopefully the trips are at an end.

Rates and Tariffs Calculator
The residential rates and tariffs calculator is currently under construction to incorporate amendments which clarify the following:
that the property value to be used is the municipal value indicated on your latest municipal account and not the market value; and
that the electricity tariffs are only applicable to City supply areas.
I'd have thought that everybody knew that rates are calculated on the City's valuation and not on perceived market value. Also that you'd know if you were getting power from Eskom or the City. But that's just me.
I have seen where I live how many residents have no idea about how their municipal is calculated or even that it is broken up into different sections with the details for each charge. They just look at the grand total and then die wet van die Transvaal is applied.

The API issue is now sorted — I appreciate you clarifying that. I've also double and triple-checked my cable color coding, even swapping the pairs around, but I’ll definitely give the brown/white-brown combination a shot as suggested.
Regarding the R7 resistor, I did remove it from the board and even tested another board with the resistor still in place. I’m guessing if the cabling is incorrect, the resistor probably wouldn’t make a difference either way. So, I’ll focus on testing the other cable next and update you on the results.

Political parties know that you like to be told "yes" when you ask if you can resell from your PV system. Of course you do, and they don't want to give you any other answer. But also it presents problems for them, so they tell you that yes, of course you can, then they structure the tariffs so that whilst you CAN, you'd have to be stupid.

hilt_ctn reacted to I84RiS in Revov batteries out of balanceSo this behaviour is pointing to one ( or more) cells reaching the low voltage cut off limit well before the other cells.
The BMS (assuming you are using communication between the inverter and battery) would be reporting the pack voltage to the inverter, which in your case approximate 37%SOC. If you have a faulty cell, the voltage off this specific cell falls so fast at the lower SOC levels that it reaches the low cell voltage cut off point (which caused the BMS to instantly report a 0% SOC) while the other cells (the non faulty ones) are still at or close to a voltage level that approximated 37% SOC level.
From experience, no amount of cell balancing will correct this. You likely have a cell (or more) that needs replacing.

1) Cable theft
2) Old infrastructure failing.
3) eskom increases of 12% per annum out pacing inflation.
and so on.
If you have the space and budget and it your consumption fits into a reasonable costed solar solution, I think its worthwhile moving in the solar direction for the following reasons:
1) lock in the cost of power.
2) Reduces your consumption from eskom at higher rates every year. So effectively any costs you would have had for eskom power can now be allocated to your solar system.
3) cable theft and eskom failures, load shedding are not as much of a problem, you can typically get thru them, and recharge the following day?
4: Electric Vehicle charging if thats something you are considering?
Overall I think most folks who implemented solar will never go back and would rather try and move as far off grid as possible over time.
However it does cost, and if you have limited space like in an apartment or simplex unit or live in a complex, or residential estate, there maybe space and aesthetics issues consider as well, which may limit the effectiveness of implementing solar.

I have a 5kW Sunsynk. When Eskom is on and I turn on say 7kW worth of devices, +/- 5kW will come out of the battery / solar array via the Sunsynk, and 2kW from Eskom
If Eskom is off however, and the Mrs. turns on the kettle, the coffee machine and microwave all at once, the inverter will trip. This has happened and some education was required. In short, you can do around 2 high draw devices at once like kettle and coffee machine. But wait for kettle to finish up before turning on the micro

hilt_ctn reacted to Kalahari Meerkat in Cell LevellingMostly enough in summer & winter, except those pesky cloudy days, which, luckily, we ain't getting too many of, but, I have just ordered some more panels and am upgrading the 5kWatter to a 8kWatter to cater for the panels, this should probably see us through, but in the last 4 months, we have had the odd day, where at sunset the battery is only at 80% or even less, those pesky cloudy days... by now, our daily consumption is noticeably down from Feb and early March, just some refrigeration not working as hard now, than when the average ambient temperature in the house was probably around 28 degrees C or more and peaking around 35 or so... no air conditioning as of yet... anyway, the JK BMS is set with parameters that don't scare the bejeezuz out of me and it reports cell voltage differential around 6 to 7mV and basically is charged mostly before 14:00, as for the BSL, who knows, it claims 100% SOC and keeps on consuming Amps like there's a shortage somewhere (the JK usually says 80% SOC or somesuch at that stage, certainly a lot more honest), I hate that BSL's BMS, whatever it is and as soon as I add another 15kW + JK BMS, the BSL will have to find a new home... probably end of winter...

hilt_ctn reacted to Czauto in Cell LevellingNormally the BMS will only start balancing above a certain cell voltage (around 3.45v-3.48v). The BMS will also only recognize and reset to 100% SOC when the pack reaches a set voltage and goes below a set charge current for a set time. Victron's ESS system (when set to Self consumption with batterylife) will set your lowest SOC% according to the amount of charging the batteries get to get the to 100% SOC as often as possible. This means that an algorithm automatically increase the SOC% should the battery not be charged fully in a certain timeframe and vica versa.
Properly charging Lithium batteries is a debate that will probably continue for a very long time. My opinion is that the bloody things are too expensive to not look after them.
