Yes @Mani was the first section I consulted, but for "Newbies" there is a problem, when trying to download any file the following warning appears: "You may only download files after you have made 15 posts.", Although perhaps you mean another Section of the Web Site that I have not seen. Thanks again !

Sorry I was talking about http://iccsoftware.co.za/

Did you test it and see if it is working on your inverter?

@Mani, I'm sorry I still have not finished installing my system yet. I hope in a couple of weeks to have the system working and in about three weeks more after tuning the inverter settings start testing the control software. I'm going to keep you informed, however by the specifications of the Infini V 1kw-5Kw I see that my hybrid 4Kw Mpp Solar inverter is identical to the Infini Hybrid, so I guess I'll have to wait for your version of the software for this type of inverters. You will have a secure client. Thank you very much

Cool. Will add the V series soon

Looking great!

emoncms.org in the cloud? or emon local?

Hello, how is necessary to configure ICC with emoncms, I am lost in that part, please help !!

@CHOCHUENO you do not need to use emoncms although it is quite a good tool if you would like to have more controle over your data and what you want to see or not. But you will need to first register a account with emoncms.org and then you will get a api key that you will use to post your data to emoncms.

I have an issue with ICC that I am hoping someone may be able to help me with.

I am running ICC-Win, with fresh install of Win10 on an I3 laptop at the inverters which I view via Remote Desktop from my office (local LAN). I am very happy with the product as it does everything that I require, my problem is that it seems to hang quite often - the Inverter Comms indicator stops flashing, the graphs flatline, and most importantly it will not send the signal changing from Solar Mode to Grid Mode at the intended 50% SOC from BMV, allowing my batteries to drain much further than intended (I have rescued the system twice now at a little over 40% SOC).

I initially set the system up using an Atom Micro PC, when this problem surfaced I guessed that the horribly slow Atom processor was not up to the job and swapped it for an old Pentium laptop that I had lying around - after similar problems (the Pentium is a really tired old thing) I have now swapped for the I3 laptop. All seemed good and I got to over 100hours with no issue, then the system failed again while I was away this weekend which I picked up via PVoutput.

I called my daughter on Sunday and got her to restart the system and all seemed fine (it required a PC restart - turning comm's on/off via the ICC power button didn't help, neither did restarting ICC). When I got back home on Monday afternoon it has hung again. I restarted the system and all seemed good, but when I woke up this morning it was kaput once more.

I need ICC to run reliably as my wife and I travel quite often leaving the house unoccupied, my questions are as follows;

  • Has anyone else had this issue with ICC Win,
  • If yes then any idea how to resolve it,
  • If no then can anyone suggest a reason for what I am experiencing (all 3 PC's used have WIN 10 fully refreshed so no other software interfering),
  • If this is a Windows thing then can anyone report the reliability of ICC-Pi, I am happy to change over if it will give me the reliability required.

Hi Pilotfish

Where to start is always difficult. I have been using ICC Windows for quite some time and had no complaints. I was running on Windows 10, I3 with 4 Gig ram configuration and except for ICC this was basically only used for some music from time to time.

I ran a couple of cycles in the 1000 hour ranges, and all of them was reset due to me either unplugging the wrong power cord or simply tripping everything with some clever shorts created while testing newly built circuits.

Initially I had some problems with USB comms hanging and comms between PC and Inverter stopped periodically. Those issues were addressed at the time by Manie and then Jaco was still involved. After those fixes never had any issues again.

I tried installing ICC windows on two subsequent PC’s without much reliability success, but keep in mind those were Atom’s, Micro and Mini PC form factors, running Embedded etc.

I tried to move in that direction to get away from the actual PC running in the region of 130W 24 hours per day.

I have since switched to RPi 3b and now everything is a breeze. Reason for dropping the PC and going the Pi route was purely motivated by consumption. I run the Pi and a dedicated 10” LED LCD on HDMI there and all is good for the month so far. I got the Pi up and running only on the 28th of August, so can only vouch for about a month with no issues.

There are always the possibility that the Inverter drop the comms as well.

If you would like you are welcome to take my PC that ran ICC Win for about a year no issues and plug that into your system to test. At least you will then know if the problem come from the PC, ICC or Inverter. (Keep in mind this is not the latest version of ICC Windows)

Another thought is to check on the Laptop/Notebook what the config is for USB. Some of them are set to let the USB go to sleep to save power and that will also result in the problems you describe above.

Hi @pilotfish,

I used laptops to run ICC windows and occasionally had the same problem. I tried everything but nothing solved the problem. When I eventually got the hanging problem sorted by installing it on a new(ish) windows7 laptop, the bloody harddrive crashed and I just gave up. Manie showed me this though. https://www.robotics.org.za/Z83-V2?search=mini pc

I ordered one and it arrived within 2 days (Now remember, I'm in Beaufort West, everything takes a week to get here) @Manie gave me a fresh key (once more) and this little machine immediately did what is was intended to do, and that at an consumption of 4.5Watts, not much more than a Raspberry Pi. (I actually have a Pi3 gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere)

I was so happy with this little machine that I eventually replaced all my laptops with it. This is being typed from one used in my office, running my invoicing software, Microsoft office, CCTV monitoring, etc. I've connected mine each to a 19" LED monitor which is set to go off if not used in 5 mins.

Stability wise. The best running time I saw was 937hours before I restarted the machine after a windows update (Oh yes, it comes with a licensed copy of Windows10) All my minipc's is accessible through teamviewer, even from my cellphone so I can checkup on my CCTV, Alarm monitoring, Solar monitoring, etc from wherever I am.

Heck my system has been running so flawlessly that I started other projects (like building a V8 into my Colt Rodeo. There goes the money I saved on solar B))

If you want reliability and stability and don't like the PI route, this is the way to go. Roughly the same price, with roughly the same power consumption.

@pilotfish fwiw seeing that you run your batts so low I would consider using the BMV for the switching as you don't have too much leigh way if something goes wrong. The way I have my setup the inverter is set to grid priority and then I disconnect the grid feed via a relay. so if something were to go wrong the BMV' relay will switch the grid feed on at 60% soc and the inverter will run in grid mode. That way I don't have to rely on software with a pc to do my switching.

Thanks @Riaanh, I am going to investigate this first because my symptoms seem to match this possibility - it seems that as long as my office PC is communicating with the PV-Laptop then all is OK, but when I stop (like shutting down my ofiice PC when going away this weekend, and putting my office PC to sleep last night) then the PV-Laptop stops communicating with the Axpert - so USB going to sleep seems like a very real possibility.

Thanks @Czauto, my 1st attempt was using an Atom D525, which was previously working very well as a media PC. I have since used a pentium laptop and now an I3 laptop so I dont think it is a processor related issue, - the USB sleep thing seems like a very real possibility so I am going to investigate that. If I can solve it on the laptop then I will see if I can get it to run smoothly on the Atom Micro because that would be my preferred option.

Hi @PaulF007, my system is running just the way I want it except for this ICC issue. I have SBU priority and charging via solar only, so my system will normally go to grid sometime in the early hours of the morning and then remain on grid until the PV panels have charged the bank to 60% which will normally be around 9am or so - by that time I am getting enough PV power to carry loads and charge the battery - reaching somewhere between 90% and sync by the time she sun sets.

If the Power Goblin is in the house (my wonderful maid Ingrid who comes on Tuesday and Thursday and somehow has the need to run every heavy appliance simultaneously, but she does a fantastic job so I just shutup and sweat it out) then I need grid to be available as backup - watching it all work on the ICC dash is fascinating has robbed me of all productivity which will wind up costing me much more than the PV system.

One change I will make is to shift my SOC switching from 50%/60% to 55%/65%, and then try and find a battery voltage where the Axpert will switch at around 50% if ICC doesnt - currently my Axpert switching voltage is too low (46v) which allows SOC into low 40's.

The Mini PC is the greatest invention... I too started using this over the Rpi3 and find it much more stable. The only thing that sometimes occur is when Windows performs an update, it forces a reboot and sometimes get stuck to reboot cleanly... Otherwise all is great with this little PC.

Are you using an antivirus? That may cause the ICC app to hang.
