Hi all Did anyone successfully integrate and manage to upload their PV data to PVoutput using a Solarman dongle and homeassistant? I have searched but cannot find much info. You can monitor the production levels of other systems in your area and generate alerts based on comparative data. https://pvoutput.org/ regards Shai

  2. Hi all, I've been using @kellerza's excellent code to read data from my SunSynk inverters into Home Assistant via a USB Rs-485 dongle. However, with the increase in sunlight here in the UK and the reduction in daily load, I'm in a position I can use excess solar to charge my car. I'm looking to implement this via an automation in Home Assistant, but I'm seeking a way to stop the inverters draining the battery when the combined house and car charger load exceeds available excess PV. I can't do this by writing to the battery BMS' as I have four banks of cells each with an independent BMS and only one of them communicates with the Inverter. I could add an …

  3. Please Help! I am new to all this home automation using Home Assistant connected directly to my Sunsynk Inverter via network cable using RS485 conncetion. The problem is that I am unable to get the inverter talking to the Home Assistant. Below are the screenshots of the Modbus logs, Mosquitto logs and Sunsynk logs. I am not sure if I have missed something or required an additional software installed.

What's the simplest but still safe way to access home assistant remotely? I have a static ip but no vpn. Simple port forward safe to use?

  5. Good day I have recently installed a GW5048D-ES Inverter and have subsequently installed Home Assistant, I am now looking for the correct sensors to use in the default Energy monitoring in Home Assistant, please help me know which sensors to use for the following: 1. Grid Consumption 2. Return to Grid 3. Solar Production 4. Battery Systems I do have the Riemann sum integral sensor enabled, I am failing to find the correct sensor to use. I have the https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/goodwe integration installed and running, would anyone be able to share a document that shows the entities/sensors or alternatively share which ones…

Hi there peeps Just thought I'd mention that Home Assistant now supports Tuya devices natively - no more need for dveloper accounts and all that nonsense to use MyTuya. If you have the device enrolled in the Smart Life App it is now immidiately available in HA using the standard Tuya integration.

Running the following versions on my NUC Core - 2024.2.0 Supervisor - 2024.01.1 Operating System - 11.5 Frontend - 20240207.0 I have a node function that looks like this //var fulltopic msg.topic = "homeassistant/sensor/SunSynk" + "/" + "/" + msg.shorttopic + "/" + "config"; msg.topic = msg.topic.replace("//", "/"); msg.payload = { "unit_of_measurement": msg.unit, "state_topic": "homeassistant/sensor/SunSynk" + "/" + msg.shorttopic + "/" + "value", "name": "SunSynk_" + msg.shorttopic, "unique_id": msg.shorttopic, //"state_class": msg.state_class, //"last_reset_topic": "SunSynk/lastreset", //"last_reset_value_temp…

Hello all, I'm pretty convinced the answers to my questions are on this forum somewhere but I can't find them so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I've been watching this youtube video (below). This seems such a simple straight forwards way of achieving what I want. I currently access the sunsynk API to get my inverter data in to home assistant but it is very slow and even though you can change the refresh rate to min 60 seconds it can still take a few minutes to update and sometimes doesn't update at all. So direct to to RS485 modbus port is my goal. This video explains everything nicely and looks the part but is for a…

Hey guys, Has anyone used the CBI ASC as a smart automated timer for geysers or pool pumps? Trying to find out if it can integrate into Home Assistant. Seems like a great all in one device to use as a smart timer at a decent price, instead of having to add additional relays or contactors when using Sonoff's or Shelly's. https://cbi-lowvoltage.co.za/asc-qr

  10. Good day all, I have a Sunsynk inverter with the "Smart" output. I am not currently using the output for anything, but I do have a use case for it. But I thought without running cables to it to possibly integrate it to Home Assistant and switch smart switches when there are excess generation. I currently so have a feed from SolarAssistant to Home Assistant via MQTT. I do not see an entity that pertains to the smart output or anything relating to excess power generation (I might be looking for the wrong stuff as there are a lot of entities). My question, If the entity doesn't exist, is it possible to calculate excess generation to trigger events where smart …

Howdy ho fellow tinkerers. Does anyone know a good device that can monitor my eskom usage for home assistant? We have just got a new prepaid meter. Have attached a Pic. Ideally it would be great to have one unit installed in our cottage DB and one in our house. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, I once found on github information on how to connect a LilyGO / T-CAN485 device with DEYE. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to do it. I changed GPIO to 21 and 22 but it still doesn't connect. Is there something else I should change in the code? Thanks for your reply!

Hello Friends I found a very interesting addition to HA. Can be installed as an add-on for Home Assistant OS and supervised, Docker in standalone mode or Legacy method using a Python virtual environment Links: https://emhass.readthedocs.io/en/latest/intro.html https://github.com/davidusb-geek/emhass https://community.home-assistant.io/t/emhass-an-energy-management-for-home-assistant/338126 Quote: EMHASS (Energy Management for Home Assistant) is an optimization tool designed for residential households. The package uses a Linear Programming approach to optimize energy usage while considering factors such as electricity prices, power generatio…

  15. Morning guys, I need some advice please. I have managed to setup the HomeAutomation with the "Sunsynk/Deye Inverter Add-on (multi)" add-on. Works very well. Is it possible, to enable/disable the "Solar Export" tick box as per the image through HA? I can see this in the code, but not seeing it on HA as a selectable option. I can only see/use "Load Limit" and "Priority Load" Thanks Martin

  16. I have a CBI wifi geyser smart switch and 3 plug in smart sockets on the SmartLife app and a TBB power inverter/battery setup. Currently the respective smart switches switch equipment on and off according to different schedules. However, I would also like to switch them off during loadshedding and back on afterwards automatically. I have setup a Tap & Run action which switches all four off, but I cannot figure out how to setup an automatic switch on action after the 2.5hr loadshedding. I would like to retain the current scheduled on/off actions on the switches. Any ideas?

  17. Just replaced a non-smart geyser timer with a CBI timer, and I have it integrated into my home assistant. I have automations in place in HA that will switch ON the geyser in the morning, and then off again. repeat again in the late afternoon. I also have a Deye solar system in place (also integrated into HA) - my Geyser does not get power from the battery, so the geyser (and the time switch) dont function when its load shedding. One BIG draw back with this design vs the manual timer. With the manual timer - when load shedding ENDs and power is restored to the timer, it will return to whatever state was intended by the time configuration …

  19. Hi Guys Please can you help with a couple of questions concerning using the ESP32 Dev ( Slipx06) board to get your data? 1. After Loading ESP32 with Esphome , do you upload the Slipx06 ESPHome-8K-Sunsdynk.yaml file onto the ESP32 or do you add the file to your Home Assistant under the Config ? 2. I watched the youtube video but not clearly explained concerning the files etc. Nothing about Adopt the device etc. Nothing concerning about files and if they get uploaded or added to the configuration file. 3. This is my Log File: NFO ESPHome 2023.6.2 INFO Reading configuration /config/esphome/esphome-web-cf06a0.yaml... INFO Starting log output from…

Hi All! I need some assistants please - I have gone through the whole forum and have not really found the answer I'm looking for. I am brand new at doing something like this and have been following Solar Integrations as much as possible. My problem seems to be that once I have connected the ESP32 to the inverter after loading the required software and all that, I can't see it on the Home assistant Dash. I made sure to follow the wiring diagram perfectly and still cant get anything to show. I then tried to load it onto the dashboard manually but still nothing. Please help!

  21. Hi all As you know ESKOM and the municipalities have been complaining about us putting massive instantanious load on the grid once power returns to charge our batteries. So what I have done to try and be a better citizen and community member is to use automation in Home Assistant paired with Solar Assistant to limit my charge current to 2A for 30 minutes when power is restored before ramping it up to 30A. During the day I only use solar to charge batteries unless the weather is really bad. Just posting this for any newcomers - solar assitant + home assistant is pretty much a must if you really want to manage your power plant effectively. I also use it to …

  22. I have a SynSynk+SunSynk Battery (5K) So I created a tool similair-ish to Solar Assistant but instead of running it on expensive raspberry pi like hardware it runs on an ESP32. I figured seeing the ESP32 has a dual core CPU it should easily be able to manage it. And it did quite well. Only problem is in totality it only has 4MB of flash memory. Fortunately you do also get the 16MB versions. Pros: Its Cheap Small form Standalone Automated tasks ,Sky is the limit. Cons: It only supports SunSynk inverters making use of your sunsynk.net account to gather data. If i can get my hands on a cheap inverter that's connected to…

  23. Aim: To get a new Solar user up and running with Home Assistant within a couple of minutes. (If you are running a Deye/Sunsynk/Sol-Ark then this is for you) What I did: I started a clean home assistant server https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/ and started installing the required plugins, defining needed options in configuration.yaml/templates.yaml etc setting up a automations needed to aid comms to the inverter settings/send & receive telegram messages. And lastly setup a solar desktop with info complete with graphs and displays, config settings etc, that I copied from my production system. It took me months to get to this point with my home assis…

  24. I'm new to home assistant. Will start loading tomorrow on a pi 4 . I want to Get the data of the Axpert inverter into a dashboard like the pic or something like it. Would that be very complicated to do or is there dashboards that can be used ? I am using solar assistant and someone said there is a way to get all data from solar assistant into home assistant

  25. Hi All, Big thanks to all the guys on here, has helped me a lot in the passed with my HA integrations. I have run into an issue and feeling like it's gonna be something simple. I had the first Sunsynk/Deye Inverter Add-on (2022.11.29-0.2.5) which was working great, I had all my sensors on my dash and all was well. I recently found some time on my hands so I wanted to implement slipx06's Sunsynk / Deye / Inverter Home Assistant Dashboard. I started off by seeing that the Sunsynk/Deye Inverter Add-on (2022.11.29-0.2.5) add-on was depreciated to I removed that and installed Sunsynk/Deye Inverter Add-on (multi). I am getting a connection back from my inverter (…
