  1. What hardware do you all run home assistant on. Have read about people running it on a Raspberry PI but then have also read that this is not the most recomended long term solution. What does everyone here use?

Found this power card for Home Assistant, a very neat way of showing what's happening with the power in your solar system. https://github.com/reptilex/tesla-style-solar-power-card

  3. Hi guys Noticed a 63A WiFi circuit breaker on online shops and found it interesting. Very much inline with the ultimate goal of automatic power routing and proper consumption management. Not must info in terms of approval / product certification at all. But the fundamental question I do have is one of COC . Is such a device approved for db board installation. Example if you have the typical ELB with the correct cluster of load circuit breakers, am I allowed to install a product like this further upstream (load side) on say the same db board? Will that be ok for COC approval? Kind regards

  4. Good day to all. This is the command in node red to change from solar only, solar battery utility and grid; solpiplog/pip/status/set with payload uti, sol, sbu for example: solpiplog/pip/status/set uti to change to grid. This works fine in node red to change to solar to say at 07:30 and back to grid at 16:00. Problem is to change the charging priority from solar to grid or solar and grid in that time when solar is not enough just before the sun disappears completely. ......and this the commands to change charging source; solpiplog/pip/status/set with payload 0, 1, 2, 3 for charger settings. This does not work or I am doing somethi…

  7. Hi Guys I am a total novice and only just getting into Home Assistant/Node Red 🙂 I am looking for comments/suggestions on my first Flow which I created to switch my pool pump on based on: Time - to run starting at 09:00 Check Solar Power being generated - more than 2000W Check Battery SOC - great than 50% Once my pool is on, check Power & SOC every 10 minutes and switch pool off if not meeting requirements and then retry every Time - turn off at 15:00 and then to start the whole process again at 09:00 the next day. flows (8).json

Does anyone know if the CIB ASC will send any data it collected when there was no internet connectivity to the internet when a connection become available (could not find any information relating to this on the CBI Astute FAQ)? Just wondering if an internet outage will cause "gaps" in the consumption data for my geyser. It's a pity that the App does not show a graph over the time of the day to show when the geyser is actually using power to heat the water (would have been great to help decide for the best time to switch the geyser on).

  9. Hey Guys Overview I've wanted to add geyser control to my smart home (Home Assistant) for some time, my DB is full so no space there. My original idea was to run a 12V DC Sonoff which would then control a solid state relay to switch the geysers on and off (I don't want to run this type of current through a Sonoff), I received the SSR's and they were faulty on arrival so I shelved the idea, this was several months ago. I then came across a post on the forum where someone used a 40A 220V relay also controlled by a Sonoff so I thought this was probably a better way of doing it as I wouldn't then need a 12V transformer to power the Sonoff I could just run everything…

I have been trying to get BMV 712 values into home assistant. I seem to be on the right track. I am using a VE direct cable into a USB port on the PI. I am getting some data from the BMV, but something is not working properly. The BMV is supposed to send the values every second or so to the USB port in a tab delimited format. I am managing to read one value, and then that's it. Does anyone have any clues as to what the problem can be? I have it set up as follows in the configuration.yaml file : I have fiddled around with many permutations of the value template and only get this: That is correct and is the amount of charged energy and agrees with wha…

Hi there. I'm looking at installing automated curtain rails. I wish to know if anyone here has installed the EACHEN wifi curtain rails and if they're good quality given their remarkable affordability in comparison to more high end brands like Somfy. Please also advise of curtain weight limits as they don't specify this, and I believe its a crucial factor in any motorised curtain rail. How long have you had the rails and have you experienced any glitches with either hardware or software?

A recurring theme in my life is digital timers, the sort of thing that one would use for controlling a geyser (perhaps in conjunction with a solenoid) or a pool pump. Repeatedly I fit a new one, it works and then a few months later I find they get hard to read and thus hard to reprogram because all the segments of the LCD display appear to be on at the same time. OK... if you can position your head at a certain, usually uncomfortable angle, you may be able to read the display but it's still hard work. They usually will reset, and will control the slave device, and the battery backup appears to still be working, but the display is problematic. Sure you can take th…

Hi Guys Need some assistance in making the dashboard in HA a but more user friendly for the rest of the household. Basically I want to use the value from a sensor ( sensor.xxx_import_from_grid) which is the Watts imported from grid to update the display on a card on the Dashboard. So if sensor.xxx_import_from_grid > 0 then button should read "ESKOM" or be a specific color or whatever, else indicate "BATTERIES" (meaning import from grid is 0W). Just an easy way for the household to see if we are on Eskom or Batteries. TIA
