Hi all. I have HA set up and linked to my Sunsynk inverter via a USB-RS485 adapter. What I want to do is quite simple, but setting it up isn't. I want HA to check whether the weather is sunny or cloudy/rainy and automatically set grid charge to on/off. Can anyone advise how to do this?

Hi All Has anyone managed to integrate their heatpump into HA? i have an alliance hotwater HP, that has a basic controller with only 3 timer settings. I need a controller that is able to connect and integrate into smart home, to manage it better. I called Alliance but they dont make a smart version of this controller for hot water heatpumps. So just checking if anyone has managed to or knows how to get around this... regards

Hi, I would like to write an automation in HA, using YAML, to calculate the time difference (in minutes) for the next load shedding cycle. If the value exceeds 150 minutes (more than 2.5 hours of loadshedding) then I want to change my battery minimum charge level, let's say from 40% to 60%. Once the next load shedding cycle there after is then maybe 150 minutes or less, then I want to change the charge level down to 40% again. I have the "actions" part figured out, but I need to know how to calculate the time difference and use it as a trigger. I already have all the necessary sensors available to obtain the Loadshedding Stages, next load shedding star…

Hi Guys Seeing as AI systems are all the rage right now and going mainstream and becoming easier to setup, I have been thinking about going down the machine learning rabbit hole with my inverter 😉 and seeing if I can use one for the control of my inverter battery settings so as to optimise the usage of my batteries and minimise my use of grid power and negate me having to be changing my settings all the time! Using Load Shedding schedules, forecast solar radiation & historical time of day power usage, my thinking is that it should be able to reasonably accurately forecast the amount of battery power that the inverter needs to keep in reserve for the foreca…

Hi, I've had my solar install for a few weeks now and I have been trying to get to grips with Home Assistant. I have been trying slipx06's Dash and ESPHome code. I have an ESP32 board hooked up to the inverter. I have managed to get so far. I have the powerflow working and I have started to play with the control settings. I am struggling to set the times for the grid charge. I can turn the grid charge options on / off and change the SOC % and charge power but I cant change the times. Is it because all the settings that I can change are pulled in as a controls but the clock settings are pulled in as a sensor? When I click on the time to try and …

With all the changes in Load Shedding levels I thought it would be a good idea to a video on a really easy way to switch your inverter between settings. Works really well and pretty easy to do. Only working with the ESP32 integration as that allows for the changing of inverter settings as default Maybe @Gary Waterworth and @stephanjoubert can let us know if it is possible to write settings back to the inverter using their integrations

Hi all Recently got the Sunsynk Inverter, batteries and panels installed and also added on the SolarAssistant and HomeAssistant combo. Entire house was installed on essential load and have the geyser on an Astute timer. During the day, I notice that after the batteries have charged up fully from solar, the PV energy is limited by the current load which makes sense since we cant feed back into the grid. The idea I had was to set up an automation on HA whereby if the batteries are fully charged and there's enough PV energy(e.g. >3kW), to automatically switch on the geyser (has an electric blanket). This way, the water will remain warmer for longer and…

Hey Everyone, I hope you guys can help. Ive recently setup a pi with the addon (https://github.com/kellerza/sunsynk) installed. @kellerza This is connected to my Sunsynk 8kw inverter using the following dongle: https://www.robotics.org.za/RS485-3P The idea is it will publish to my main HA install on a seperate NUC via MQTT. I managed to get it speaking to the inverter, however it throws the following error when trying to get the sensor info: Here are the full logs: Configs are as follows: Not quite sure where i need to look to get the issue sorted? …

Hi all, I have a very nice HA setup, using StephenJoubert's home_assistant_solarman integration into my Deye inverter It reads my inverter settings, and I have several automations working off of the info it provides. My next step is to start automating the configuration of Inverter time of use settings. I would love to have certain scenarios play out based on weather forecasts, or load shedding statuses that will tweak when Gris charge is activated, and the threshold levels increased but I haven't found a method that will let me do it (and based on the potential for messing up my inverter, i'd rather not experiment to much beyond what someone e…

Hi I would like to get Home Assistant running and integrated with my solar installation. I would have liked to get the Home Assistant OS running on a Raspberry PI 4, but they seems as rear as a four leaf clover at the moment. In the Home Assistant documentation they mention installation on ODROID devices, I can find them on the website of a company called cyberconnect. I am specifically looking at the ODROID N2+. It's more expensive than the PI, but it's what I can find. https://cyberconnect.shop/en_GB/shop/product/odroid-n2-550?category=17 Has anyone used cyberconnect? I can't find much about them. Also, any other ideas on devices that you have Home Assistant r…

I have no problem with home automation as long as it is not connected to cloud servers, In fact, I personally would not even leave it connected to the internet 24/7 and only enable the connection for certain periods. The story below broke a few days ago and numerous channels have reported on it. It concerns Amazon accusing a customer of racism and purposefully shutting down the entire smart home. PS. I prefer not using and not sharing Youtube links. I prefer Odysee, Bitchute and Rumble, but I could not find this Louis Rossmann link on the other channels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfiIXooD77s

Good day all. Is there anybody running Home Assistant and ICC Solar with MQTT integration? I looked through the older posts, but I can not get the MQTT "connection" to work. I have managed to get a Tesla Style Power card to work with the Local EMONCMS values from the ICC PI. Home Assistant is running on a VM, the ICC PI only runs the Programs installed by the ICC image. Any pointers and or guide will be much appreciated.

Has anyone experimented with chatgpt inside of HA? Does anyone know if it can see your entities, sensors etc? Wondering if it could help create a few scripts and automations. Would probably be better/smarter than me at creating these.

Hi guys, Thought I'd share details of my solar powered floating pool temp sensor that I put together to get pool temp data into Home Assistant. Hardware required (had to use multiple vendors): 1 x Solar Panel 1 x DF Robot Solar Power Manager 1 x LiPo Battery - for the price, I just went with quite a big one 1 x Wemos D1 or similar - to use the external WiFi antenna, you need to shift a tiny zero Ohm resistor so you may need to find someone who can do this for you if need be. 1 x 1K Resistor - you'll only be able to buy these in bulk, they're cheap and they're handy for LED projects 1 x Submersible temperature sensor A…

Good day @Sc00bs I would like to know if it's possible to integrate CBI smart Astute breakers in with home assistant. i have a client that has 7 of them (switching all the geysers and underfloor heating when the sun is out) the load is killing the batteries when loadshedding hits, if I don't monitor it regularly to switch on and off the batteries doesn't last i saw your video on integrating loadshedding onto home assistant which is very cool! Is it possible to great rules when loadshedding hits the smart breakers should turn off? I'm super new in all of this. I haven't even started with home assistant, but it's my next task soon. thanks for al…

Hi Guys, Uploaded my latest video, a beginners guide to solar automations in Home Assistant. The video covers three automations that I set up: - Only Switch Pool on when the forecast predicts lots of power - Switch off heavy loads when grid disconnects - Change light bulb colour to red when grid disconnects and to white when reconnected Please let me know what you guys think and if you have any other suggestions for automations. The sounds should have improved a bit 🙂 and hopefully the flow is a bit better

I have 6 cbi touch screen timers at our home. 5 of them looses the time setting within minutes when we experience an outage. I'm not a sparkle but find it absolutely frustrating to reset it so often. Anyone else with the same issue or am I missing something ?

Has anyone successfully integrated Home Assistant with a Sunsynk inverter over the local network by directly connecting to the inverter dongle? No looking for the Modbus (RS485) connection or getting the slow update data from the Sunsynk cloud. My inverted has the "new" e-linter Sunsynk Wifi Dongle (not the Solarman Dongle)

Hi all. Hope well. I enjoy IP cameras around the house. I am intrigued to what cameras are on all the traffic lights and their strange design. Does anyone know the model number of these? Are they motorized? Picture attached. Thanks all. Jay
