I need to do something that really isn't all that technically complicated, but a little opaque to someone outside the biz. I have 41 flats (owners and tenants). I need a device on each unit, at either the meter or on individual DBs, that will feed usage data. I then need to be able to apply simple logic to those feeds (if we're on battery power; is current draw greater than x; has total draw exceeded y since going on battery) and then be able to a) send an alert. preferably text but other options possible b) cut off an individual flat if need be We have already integrated sonoff smart switches to shut off geysers etc. automatically when we're on battery p…

I started by purchasing Chromecast devices all 3 tv's in my home. This was followed by adding 4 google home devices to the house. 1 in the living room, 2 in the bedrooms and 1 in the kitchen. This allowed me to listen any music I liked in the rooms and various other functions. Just before December 2019 I purchased 2wifi RGB smart bulbs for Xmas effects in my living room. I liked the effects and was also chuffed that all of this was voice controlled as the devices were Google Home compatible. I also have a Paradox wireless security alarm, a DVR with 8x outside and 4x inside security cameras all which can be controlled or seen from an app's on my phone. 3 x inside came…

  3. Hi all, I had my Sunsynk 5kW firmware updated earlier today and have now noticed that I'm no longer receiving data into my Home Assistant via the RS485 connection. I've restarted HA and also done a complete power off. I've also tried changing the Baud rate in the Modbus setting in Node Red, my /dev/ttyUSB0 is still the same on my HA. All was working fine until the update was done, which included the inverter resetting itself... I'm just getting the following back in Node Red debug. "Modbus Failure On State sending Get More About It By Logging" old: M 3.1.6.2 / S -- / C E.4.1.9 new: M 3.3.8.2 / S -- / C E.4.2.6 I see the new MCU has "…

Hi After I decided to make my home smarter. I replaced all my light switches to with Eachen ( no neutral required) as my house has no neutrals in the light switches. You need to install a capacitor in the first light for it to work (.33 mf or bigger which is supplied). I also put switches on all my side lamps, garage door, gate motor, electric fence, irrigation , xbox one, temp humidity switch and a rf hub. I used Sonoff switches as all of them including the Eachen switches worked off the same app as well as Google Home (a total of about 27 devices). I had bought the switches in batches and when it came to the last order of the Eachen light switches I started …

Good day, It is my first time posting here. So the other day I decided to buy the CBI Astute switch to replace my timer for the geyser. I have tested the switch by connecting a cord to the device and it all works fine. But when I connect it in my DB then it trips the EL and I don't know why. Any ideas what can cause this issue?

  6. Hi So I managed to get my Synsynk inverter connected to Home Assistant and can read all the sensors (grid power, load power, battery SOC, etc, etc. I'm new to Home Assistant and my programming skills (which are basic in the first place - used some Fortran/Pascal 20 y back ) are rusted. I would like to get the basics running and then later on when I have some time dust off the programmings skills and start using the YMAL scripts to fine tune my automations and other setups. So for now I'm looking at using the built in Automations Visual Editor. First on my list is to switch off certain devices when load shedding kicks in to prevent the Inverter tripping on overl…

  7. I am running a DIY battery built from second life cells and bought a Daly smart bms with a little bluetooth dongle. I tried several projects but none worked so I decided to hack something together to get this working. Please note this is not my project, I simply added some code to it and fixed a couple of bugs. Also added a couple of lines documentation to get started. Then added some home assistant glue and decide to publish my changes to allow other people to benefit from this. Still rough around the edges, here is my fork of the project. Only the bluetooth documentation is applicable. Do not install from pip as it does not contain these change…

I've recently had a 5kW Sunsynk inverter installed. I've read a number of posts on this forum about attaching devices to Sunsynk inverters via RS485 and using Modbus to get sensor data, but I didn't want to have to install any extra hardware at the inverter when it already has a Wifi dongle that it uses to transmit sensor data over the internet. So I've been playing around with intercepting the data it sends. It's unencrypted (so now the NSA and everyone else knows every time I boil the kettle) and uncompressed, and I've been able to reverse engineer a fair number of the fields by plotting them and matching up to graphs in the data logger app. It's at the point where I'm …

It is clearly using 110v. Is there a setting hidden somewhere perhaps?

  10. I recently bought the 8 zone version of this hoping to integrate some functionality into Home Assistant knowing that it would not expose all entities according to write-ups. According to one user though, he managed to expose the scenes created in the Smart Life App to HA, hence obtaining some control, yet mine doesn't seem to expose anything. Has anyone managed to do this yet?

Hi all, I seem to be having a weird issue with some smart gu10 bulbs. I have two of these bulbs in my kitchen cabinet. Initially the wifi signal was quite weak but i have since added an extender closer to the kitchen which seemed to solve the issue. All worked fine until a few days ago, for some reason, one bulb always shows offline on the smartlife app but as soon as i walk into the kitchen with my phone, it will show as online. Cant be a wifi issue as the signal is strong in the kitchen now (tested on phone). Could the bulb still be trying to connect to the AP which is further away(same SSID)? cant seem to get this sorted. any help would be appreciated.

I have 3 CBI wifi timers - after loading when the power comes on , 2 of them switch the power on outside of the time schedule, where the other stays off which is correct. Please advise

  13. Hi All, So i am just starting on my 'Smart' adventure and need some help. I've tried searching good old google but cant seem to find my answers. I want to add 3 smart GU10 bulb to my lounge light fittings. The current light fixture is connected to a dimmer 2 gang switch which is based in the dining room. I see Sonoff has a zigbee wireless push button (Zigbee bridge required) which I want to stick onto the wall in the lounge to control the smart bulbs(current switch can just be left on 24/7). I cant seem to find Sonoff GU10 bulbs anywhere so was looking at either the Bneta or the Yeelight bulbs. What i am unsure of is, can the Sonoff button/Z…

I recently bought an auto valve and I can't work out how to wire it up, I have several auto valves of a different type used to automate a home brew kit, but this one has me stumped. The valve came from www.actuation.co.uk The drawing on the side of the autovalve is like this DC + - Signal Off | | -------| | Signal ON CLOSE | | -| | OFF | | COM | OPEN | | | | | | | | 1 3 4 5 6 …

Has anyone managed to calculate Eskom bill in Home Assistant for the current month? I know there are municipalities with peak and off peak tarriffs but in our municipality you pay depending on how much Kilowatt hours you have used for the month. 0-50kwh - R1.34 51 - 300 - R1.74 301+ - R2.42 I would love to implement this so I can see at a glance how much money I have spent for the current month.

I'm just starting out with some of the CBI products but have noticed that my CBI Astute Timer is reporting a voltage (in the CBI App for now) but that the CBI Isolater is not. Does anyone have experience with the Isolator? Should I get voltage readings or did I buy a dud?

  18. Started by Zane,

The MultiSibControl Software has a "Device Control" section, in which the user can define a set of rules to activate or deactivate smart plugs. It could be programmed to disable non-critical loads, in case the inverter load is close to nominal, there is not enough sun, or the battery is below a certain voltage. My question is, did someone successfully manage to use this function ? Which platform did you use to link your smart plugs to a URL trigger ? Edit: IFTTT/Webhooks works great.

  20. Hi all, I was wondering what automations you have created in Home Assistant for the Solarman data logger? I have my data logger connected to Home Assistant via https://github.com/StephanJoubert/home_assistant_solarman This works great! Then I was wondering: What automations the community setup for this combination? Let me know please.

I have a sonoff TH16 attached to my solar water heater that I use in conjunction with an added heating element. Would anyone know how I could get a smart lightbulb to turn red when the water temperature is at a certain temperature (example 55 degrees) and turn green when it is below 40degrees) I have some cheap smart bulbs that don't seem to be able to do this. Help much appreciated.

  24. Hi Guys Have been trying to setup my Sunsynk with the Home Assistant Energy Integration and wondering what data from the inverter you guys are using for the integration? I am assuming that there is somethin probably reasonably basic that I am missing here, probably to do with the way HA handles the power data I suspect as some of the data is a total for the day and while others are figures for at current flow at that time. I am getting unknown entity errors which is strange as these are the same entities I am using in Grafana to display the data (I think) Electricity Grid Settings sensor.sunsynk_grid_gridbuy_day Return to the grid, have…
