Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Hi all and thanks for your help. This is what I have: 1. Mains DB with own Earth leakage, sub-db with earth leakage for essentials & inverter. 2. Where does the AC INPUT to my inverter come from to charge? Can I just take it from the bottom of the main DB Isolator directly to the DB Incoming AC or how would you do it? I was thinking of "charging" the batteries from a CB in the main DB. 3. The sub DB will be wired as a normal DB, with plugs on earth leakage and lights no earth leakage? 4. From what I have learned so was, the sub DB has to have two seperate neutral bars; one for circuits without earth leakage and one for circuits with earth lea…

  3. So, i get some say-so’s that some hybrids like sunsynk can’t work without a battery connected… my brief reading of the matter says no such thing. So what gives? Surely that would kinda be a fatal flaw…

  4. Hi All, I'm new to this forum. My searches have not yet revealed an answer to my problem, but I suspect it may involve a firmware upgrade. I have a 24V RCT Axpert 3kVA (600W solar) with two Hubble S-120 batteries. Inverter was bought in 2015. I recently got the Solar Assistant and it correctly measures the battery current when the battery supplies power, but shows a current of zero when utility comes back and the battery charges. Consequently the emulated BMS mode in Solar Assistant shows the battery gets drained but then stays on whatever the SOC is when the utility comes back on. Any suggestions? I did some extensive searching and could not find any …

  5. I am new to this forum so forgive me if proccedures are not correctly followed. I have an Axpert VM3 5kW installed and is working as a UPS (No Solar). The battery is a BSL 51.2v 100Ah LiFePO4. Where I live we experience many 2 to 4 hour power outages (Loadshedding). The normal load on the inverter is between 250Watts and 1500Watts. The Axpert VM3 5kW performs very well with no problems with the exception that when we have a power outage the inverter fans work normally when the load is <1000Watts. The fans cycle on and off depending on the load.... but.... when the invert load gets to just above 1000Watts the fans then ramp up to absolute maximum speed and rem…

  6. Hi all, I'm new to this field & wants to setup PV system as my backup power source. What I have are, 3 KW MUST Hybrid Inverter MPPT (PV1800 VPM 3000W) 24V 470W Solar panels 2 Nos (connected in Parelle) 12V 100Ah Lead Acid car batteries 2 Nos (Connected in series to get 24V) - Temporally until I buy Lifepo4 I would like to know the values for the following Inverter settings 1. Maximum charging current (Max charging current = Utility charging current + Solar charging current) - Options Range from 1A to 60A 2. Maximum Utility charging current - Options 20A or 30A 3. Bulk Charging Voltage (C.V. voltage) - Options Range from 24V to 29.2V 4. Floating Charg…

  7. Wondering if a HF Sunsynk can start a pump motor? Lets assume a 12kW 3Ph sunsynk and a 5.5kW 3 Ph motor started on a VFD. The sunsynk can surge to twice its load for 10s (or so says the manual). Start up load on a 5.5k 3 phase motor on a VFD should be limited to about 2.5 to 3 times the motor rating i think. Lets assume it spikes to 3 times - so thats about 17kW for a few seconds. I would have thought it would take 2 x 12kW 3Ph sunsynks in parallel to safely do this but i have no idea how HF inverters cope with starting motors. Then there is the added complication of not being to add a genset to a paralleled setup of sunsynks. maybe Victron is the way…

  8. Hello Power People, I'm posting this here to hopefully save anyone in a similar situation a lot of headache and possibly an inverter. I recently installed a Growatt SPF5000TL inverter and a Pylontech US3000C battery. From what I could research on this forum, firmware updates were required to get the BMS communications established. So, I got the firmware and commenced the updates. It broke my inverter! It would not turn on after the 2nd update. Luckily it was still under a warranty and the supplier swapped out the unit. I was really not comfortable with doing a firmware update on the new inverter, so I found some more information with regards to the cable…

  10. Hi I am noticing that King inverter in the condition, of fully charged battery and presence of PV Starts to discharge from battery despite being set in USB UTI Question if someone has the same inverter can they try and give me confirmation? I heard from the supplier who tested his inverters and took over as well this anomaly after my report So it's not an isolated case of my two inverters being connected to each other in parallel. As you can see from here it is clear that the inverter is in UTI USB and is discharging 14A from the battery Which it shouldn't do. I might have some A's due to the online functionality that AVR does but it does not discharge of 14 or even 50A a…

So in Short I have a LuxPower SNA. It was chosen for a project at work actually one of the main reasons is the interface for monitoring - more than one client, we however wanted to use it in a large company with scattered offices then run the offices with individual inverters. yes there are others that do the same, but off the bat I liked the Client interface as a facilities manager. So the two issues I now have is the SNA looses and resets time for some reason. 2. TBH there is no remote monitoring on the client side, you need to be within WIFI distance of the unit, which is pretty stupid. We have contacted on a few different emails - ASPERGO (Andy…

  13. After my Axpert inverter progressed from intermitted Code error 08s to nearly constant code 51s (regardless of weather, time of day or whether or not Solar and/or grid was supplied), I started to study the many related posts on this site. I wish to thank the following contributors for their valuable contributions, in no particular order,: @charlez @Maximus777 @Coulomb @APV @Chris Knipe @jaco de jongh (not sure how to tag him correctly). What stopped me short of starting to replace mosfets and caps, were the amount of boards to remove just to get to them! I started weighing the costs of getting a new unit and developing my assembly skills when I made a discovery, quit…

Hi there I used to run an Ellies trolley to power my office during loadshedding. Batteries lasted around 4.5 years. As I move around a lot I decided to build my own battery box using a kodak vmiii 5kw inverter and a Fox ESS lv2600 2.56kw battery. Aim is to add another battery soon. I've noticed that the Kodak inverter fans come on every few minutes. This is with nothing connected but the battery. Is this normal? My Ellies box would only make a noise during loadshedding and after when recharging the batteries. Can anyone advise what settings I am suppose to set here? Also, is there another tool I can use to get better battery stats other than t…

Hello Everyone, Has anyone ever recorded or monitored the data usage of the data logger of the growatt inverter? I know it is low and nothing to worry about but recently I have changed the interval from 5 min to 1 min and I want to know and see the difference.

Hello there. New here, but been 'stalking' for a long time. 😜 I'm trying to figure out how to best setup the AUX load feature on two Sunsynk 8kw inverters I wish to install. I see there is a lot of uncertainty around AUX load in general. I think I grasp most of it, however: When using the AUX load, because the inverters will be in parallel, I would only be able to draw from PV on each inverters AUX according to what the two MPPT's on the respective unit are producing at the time. I would however like to be able to use my full PV capacity to power items off the two AUX loads that are available to me (one on each inverter). To achieve this, could I trigger a relay…

  19. Do the 1000w and 2000w Axperts bond neutral to earth when they running in battery mode? In line mode the neutral is already bonded. This is necessary from what I understand to make sure any earth leakage units I place before a changeover switch will trip correctly. Does this happen automatically?

Morning everyone, Do I understand this correctly? Deye/Sunsynk/Goodwe are full hybrid inverters. Growatt SP5000ES (and others) are off-grid inverters, right? To my understanding, the full hybrids can "export" PV (and battery) power to non-essential loads, whereas with the off-grid inverters PV and battery will only power the essential loads. So once batteries are full, the "excess" PV (after supplying essential loads) will be lost and won't power non-essentials (geyser for example). Is this true? And are there other big differences between the two? Cheers, Markus
