Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. A bird told me the Sunsync will be very soon be approved for the local on grid market I have been looking and looking and can't seem to find the difference between this 2 models ? What's the difference ?

I have a 5.5 kw Hubble AM 2 Lithium battery mounted in my garage. In winter does the performance of the colder battery drop off? I did a test one night and switched off my mains and not a ton of stuff in the house was powered by the battery overnight but in the morning it was down to 32% soc.Was wondering if in the warmer times the drop off will be less.

My installation is three growatt inverters parralel mounted with 6 pylontehc US2000C pylontech batteries. After a while I managed to have BMS communicate with the inverters as it should. It ran well for 10 days then no longer. I could not find the issue but noticed different firmwares on the inverters and decided to update them. Two of them went well. The third did accept one but not the second update. 20 attempts both with laptops under OS windows 10 or 7 did not do the job. Worse, it no longer works at all, is not detected by the other inverters and will not detect the solar production. IHere's the picture of what it indicates. If anyone has a clue as to …

Hello guys New to the forum and I have searched for this answer but with no luck. Perhaps someone here can give me some advice! I'm currently running 6x Pylontech US3000 batteries through 2 Mecer 5Kva inverters with 24x 320W panels. Sometimes when I turn on the kettle and percolator in the morning I get an Error 04 alarm - Low battery voltage. However, my SOC is usually around 60% still. I could understand if my SOC was very low but it isn't. This does not turn off until I start getting positive power through my PV's later. Is there a configuration setting I can/should change? I am totally off grid (no Eskom). Cheers!

  6. Started by Raks,

Good afternoon all I am new to this forum and to the inverter/solar discussions. I am in the process of purchasing an inverter. I have the following two options: Sunsynk 5kW Hybrid Inverter and Mecer Axpert King I want to be able to monitor my inverter via WIFI, Sunsynk comes with the functionality however Mecer not. Has anyone used Solar assistant successfully with Axpert? Appreciate your input Thanks

  7. I am not sure if I am going crazy or not, I hope not I have 2 Axpert Kings installed in parallel, however for some reason the one Axpert is always producing roughly half of the what the other inverter is doing. This is regardless of what is happening in the system, full batteries, charging batteries, mixing between grid and solar, full load. Both panel setups are on the same roof, facing north orientation, same pitch currently set up as 3 strings of 4 Panels (Will be changing this back to 4 strings of 3 panels) going into each Axpert. No shade covering the panels during the day. Any ideas of where I can start tinkering to find out the…

  8. Hi all. I run a 3k Multiplus here on the farm. Lately it's started giving low battery errors, switching off the AC for a second and then recovering. This has happened at night(battery only) and while the sun's shining and doesn't seem load dependent. Is there a failure mode that might cause this? I've checked my DIY 12kW Lifepo4 bank and cabling and that's fine. One wierd thing is the inverter refuses to start my compressor - it goes straight to low battery error. So not liking inductive loads all of a sudden. Any advice appreciated. Might be time to upgrade. Ian

Well , my father always said that people with ideas are called "Idiots" I am one of them. I was thinking to make an experiment, if possible. Would be possible to connect the AC output of an OFF Grid inverter to the Grid ? Yes, I would need a smart meter so it cuts the AC when the grid falls down so the people working on the grid don't get electrocuted ... but would this work ? The inverter produces power only as long as it feels there is a need for it.. this way I would not inject , just produce when the apparel on the grid requests it. Anyone tried / did something like this before ? After summer vacation I will buy a Solis RHI or GoodWe GW5048…

  10. I have recently had the Sunsynk 12kW three phase inverter installed. My installer has put my house (max 5kW at any given time) on the UPS load (which I requested) however the non-essential loads have not been connected to the inverter at all (the CT coil has been put between the inverter and the non-essential loads effectively cutting them out of the system). My non-essential load consists of two 3phase water pumps (5.5kW each) and 6 small staff houses (consuming never more than 5kW altogether at any given time). On querying this he said that he was concerned that the water pump may put the inverter under too much pressure. My electrical knowledge is very limit…

My shine phone app started giving me a network error message. after a few failed login attempts I got a username or password error message. I tried the "forgot password" on the log in screen and it said that e-mail has been sent to me. The e-mail never arrive. and i did it again ... no success. what can i do to get the app to work.

I noticed that the Sunsynk App dashboard does not update the Energy produced (daily + total) and shows zero, although I produced solar energy. This is both the browser and mobile app. (attached image) If I click into the plant, then it shows: (attached image) Anyone notices the same on your side? Jacques

  13. I have a client, with a BayHouse on Bronkies dam. He wants me to replicate his system he has installed at his main residence at this property. Only difference is, the old residence has a garage to house everything. The new residence has nothing. he wants me to install the 8.8kw SunSynk inverter outside with the battery inside, right behind the inverter. Battery will be 2x 10/8 FreedomWon batteries. now my concern is theft. I want to install the inverter in a stee enclosure that can be locked, ACDC has a 1200mm x 800mm x 320mm cabinet with fans for 8k. will mounting the inverter in a cabinet void the warranty in any way?

Hi, I have seen on the forum that some people say the 5kW Sunsynk hybrid inverters have a 13A PV input current, but the datasheet that I see on their website (https://www.sunsynk.org/manuals), version 7.0 (https://www.sunsynk.org/_files/ugd/9350f7_3ab2d500127e4607af27a19e2b3d734e.pdf), has it as 11A. Can someone please tell me if I have the wrong datasheet? Also, what is the difference between the SG01/03LP1 and SG02LP1 and which ones do we get locally? Thank you.

  15. Hi All, I have been putting together an essential DB to run from the LOAD / UPS side of the Sunsynk inverter. The image below is my project that I am busy with however I got stuck with where exactly to wire the Earth Neutral bond relay. I understand that the relay will be fed from the ATS240 on the Sunsynk with the option "Signal Island Mode" selected. Can someone please draw on the image below how to run the cabling as I am not sure where to take the Neutral from Before or after the Earth Leakage? Thank you in advance and other suggestions welcome

Good afternoon, we installed 2 x Deye inverters connected in parallel as well as 4 x Dyness batteries. We are having 2 issues, pls help us correct them. 1st. When Eskom goes off only one inverter seems to be working(carrying the load), the other sits on 0% load. 2nd. When Eskom is off, the inverter shows a high load sometimes up 3kw(it flactuates)even though the load was at 300w just before we switch off Eskom.

  17. Good day all. I'm Loki I live in South Afrika Recently went off grid I have two Solarwize inverters. Same model but one have 31 settings and the other 39 settings. Why is this. The extra settings from 33 to 39 is purely for battery equilaization which I don't use as I have deep cycle gel batteries. Does this mean the firmware is not the same. I cannot seem to find solarwize firmware update anywhere. Any advice please

Hi guys, i have 5KW Deye inverter with a battery which im currently using as a backup supply for power outages. if i connect a generator on the gen port to charge the batteries during a power outage, will the inverter automatically cut the power coming the generator once the grid comes back on?

  22. I have three sections in my DB. Two of the sections have auto-changeover switches. It can switch between inverter and Eskom. The third section in non essential straight from Eskom like dishwasher, tumble drier, underfloor heating, geysers, microwave and my kettle plug. 1st automatic changeover switch is for essentials like CCTV, lights, Alarm, gate motor, tv plug. These run 24/7 on inverter backup. 2nd auto changeover switch feed the rest of plugs for Fridges, TV’s, computers etc. Normally switches on at 7h30 till 15h00 when daylight and with PV availability. This is how my Axpert worked for more than two years , now I replaced the Axpert with a Sunsynk but…

  23. Hi all, Had a stange incident this morning where the inverter input tripped without any major production or consumption. Typical early morning usage with one geyser working and couple of kettle boils. Any idea why this would trip?

  24. Started by Jay-Dee,

I need help on settings as I am missing something obvious. I want my system to be configure as follows but at the moment, I can’t get it to run off battery primarily when PV is not sufficient. First source of power = Solar Second source of power = Battery Third source of power = Grid. When the battery hits 20% SOC, then it returns to grid but only charges via Solar. Once it hits 40% SOC, then it returns to from Grid to Battery as secondary source of power. This way of thinking comes from my previous Axpert Inverter where the load priority was set to SBU (Solar, Battery, Utility) and then via the ICC Software, I would control the 20%, and 40% threshold…

  25. Hi everyone, The setup is as per the following them as per the following: 2x SPF 5000 ES running in parallel (firmware: 040-06-104 and 041-06-104) 10x Longi LR5-72HPH-545M (each 5 panels to an inverter) 12x Lento lead acid LSTB-22000 (12V 200Ah) - installed each 4 in series (48V 200Ah) and then the 3 series in parallel resulting in a setup of 48V 600Ah -> 28.8 Kwh The whole system is also connected to the utility as well. I recently changed the values of setting #2 and #11 on one of the host inverters assuming that the slave will replicate until I found out that they don't. So I had to do it manually in each server so that both are …
