Had a similar issue updating from whatever (don't recall) too 500.09. Reset solved it but of course zeroed out those values.

On my side both inverters are working well for now I'm waiting to see if I will have the battery on standby once it's 100% charged. I don't have the negative values all is normal. No faults or warning beeps expect during firmware update which took a bit more than 7minutes (10 minutes to be exact).

November 8, 20214 yr Morning all Did the updates in the following order from 500.09. STM32F030CC_SK036.01m.bin F030_SK022_07_ 20200714.bin F2809_GW500.12_20210927A.bin Restarted and reset inverter. Setup Li Profile 01 for Dyness and no data. Plugging unplugging wifi usb dongle, no success. Reset inverter again, no success. Left it for 2+hours, nothing. Then went to USE mode, still no data. Reset inverter again, nothing. Tried Li mode again, now gettting Error 04 and 20 flashing. WTH, didnt do it the previous time and also +- a year ago it was also running in Li mode for some time. Using orange comms cable plugged into BMS as it has always been. Eventually put it back to USE mode and kept it there. Around 9pm (9 hours after starting the upgrade process) it started sending data again, magically on its own! Now would still love to run it in Li mode, but just not in the mood to struggle with this thing anymore. Also noted that when in Li mode the 1st time, post update, batt % was at 90% and cycling solar on and off!! WHY!???? Another question, what is the best sequence for cycling batteries on and off when you have say 3 Lithiums connected 1 being master the rest slave? @Dyness @Dyness Engineer Weizhong @Dyness Engineer Zhang
November 8, 20214 yr Nope, It got me again! Decided to quickly have another go at this. Made up a new comms cable with the correct pinouts. Powered inverter and batteries down, installed cable. Started up. Immediately on startup gave Error 04/20 in Li mode. Powered down everything again and then swapped the ends of the cable around (battery side now on inverter and vice versa). Setup Li mode and L01 for Dyness and restarted. Hey! no errors and inverter starting as expected and all good. Completed the settings config and restarted one last time. All good. Reading battery %, etc. Except, again no data from datalogger, no flashing lights after the green on reinserting the usb datalogger. Tried multiple times. Also tried a reset (reset key for 6 seconds and reconfig to wifi). Nothing. And HEY my batteries are at 95% and enough Solar to carry load, but Solar still disconnecting. So they possibly fixed it for Pylon(L02) but no Dyness (L01) 😒 Edited November 8, 20214 yr by Tsa Update

Received this last year sometime from Mahone as well before he left when we were troubleshooting the comms issues.

After many, many emails back and forward, and far too many hours of research online, I finally got it right today and I think it is worth sharing this information here, in case anybody else needs it, because I couldn't find the right information anywhere on the internet, all in one place, explained properly. It turns out that the Growatt SPF5000 has to be connected to the Pylontech batteries differently to the way Axpert inverters are connected to Pylontech batteries. Everything I was reading online was saying that you need to plug the RJ45 comms cable into the CAN port on the master battery and then into the BMS port on the inverter, and then you need to set the battery type to Li (setting 05 on Axpert and Growatt inverters) and then choose Li profile L02 (also apparently the same for Axpert and Growatt inverters). It turns out, the Growatt does NOT communicate via the CAN port. It communicates via the RS485 port that is positioned below the CAN port on the master battery. And in addition to that, it requires a 9600 baud rate, which you can set using the 4 small white dipswitches on the master battery. For the Growatt you must set those dipswitches to: 1 0 0 0 (ON OFF OFF OFF) When connected to the CAN port and put into Li (L02) mode, the Growatt inverter faults and gives an error 20 and an error 04 constantly. When connected to the RS485 port with the dipswitches set to 1000, comms is immediately established and it works as intended. I also installed 2 firmware updates on the inverter, that were sent to me by Growatt in China (who were very helpful through this entire process despite not actually giving me the information I actually needed to solve this), but in retrospect I actually wonder if those firmware updates even made a difference because I was able to put the inverter into Li (L02) mode before applying those firmware updates anyway, I just didn't know about the RS485 port and the dipswitches. Recommended configuration process 1. Turn inverter on but run off battery only. Disable A/C input and A/C output (use isolator switches if you have them). 2. Go to setting 5 and select battery type = Li. Then select profile L02 (This is specifically for Pylontech batteries). Push ESC to return to home screen. Go back to setting 5 and verify that it was saved as Li. 3. Now shutdown the inverter and batteries completely. Turn the batteries off using the on/off flip switch, not just the red button on the master battery. 4. Now make sure that the end of the comms cable on the battery side (it will probably have a little sticker on it that says BAT) is plugged into the RJ45 port labelled RS485 that is below the CAN port. And also make sure that the other end is plugged into the RJ45 port labelled BMS on the inverter and NOT into the other RJ45 port that is labelled RS485 (Yes, I know, it's weird, just go with it). 5. Now set the 4 little white dipswitches to: ON OFF OFF OFF (1000). 6. Now turn the batteries back on and then turn the inverter back on. You should no longer see any fault codes or the red fault light. How to tell that the inverter really is communicating with the BMS properly 1. You should now see a little Li symbol next to the battery icon on the home screen of the inverter, and that Li symbol should NOT be flashing. When it's not flashing and is solid it means comms is working. 2. If you go and look at most of the battery values on the status screens or in settings related to battery level (SOC) you should now see percentage values where there were voltage values before. Setting 21 is a good example of that. I hope this helps somebody else because the information available online with regards to the Growatt routers is of no help in this regard and most of the information available relates to Axpert inverters, which appear to be very similar to the Growatt at face value, but communicate with the Pylontech batteries differently from what I can see. Dip switches are set to 1 0 0 0 No success, or do I have to reboot the whole system every time I make a change?

Is your inverter Growatt SPF5000TL? if that is the case, you have to use RS485 on the inverter and BMS on the Battery. If you still have a problem, swop the cable around ( swop the batter end and connect that to the inverter and te inverter end to the battery) Dip switch is 1000 for master battery if using US2000B or C or B plus, US3000B. If Using US3000C, the dip switched have been inverted, so you will have to try 0111 or 0001.

The dip switch is upside down, but switch 1 is set to on, the rest off. There are two possibilities, the cable I have is incorrect or the Firmware is now allowing the BMS port to correctly talk to my battery. I have tried the 123 pin to 678 crossover, a 1278 crossover (not sure exactly cause battery was supplied from PylonTech battery supplier) and neither seemed to work. If the dip switches are right, the cable plugged in, when I change 05 to Li and 36 to L02 it should work, if the cable is wrong, switching the cable should nearly immediately fix the issue, but it has not with my setup. The Inverter shows a 04-20 error (battery communication and low battery)
November 15, 20214 yr I had the same. 04-20 immediately. Swopped the cable sides around as suggested above... AND restarted the inverter. It then powered up fine without issues and working as expected. UNTIL many hours later I randomly got a 04/20 and it tripped the power to the house for a few seconds. Have had this since day 1 on these inverters and Li mode (L01). Note L01 as I am running Dyness batteries.

The problem is I need there are a number of cables suggested, the biggest difference is most are using the PylonTech 3000C, maybe the UP5000 communicates differently?
