Greetings, I'm trying to figure out BSL 6.4kWh battery settings on an Axpert MKS II 5K off-grid system for cycling in the mid-SOC range of 95% to 15% (80% DOD). The battery datasheet states Voltage at end of Discharge: 47-48V Recommended Charge Voltage: 55V The BSL 6.4kWh user manual on the Victron Energy site has these settings for the Quattro 48/5000/70 inverter/charger. VE Configure Inverter Tab DC input low shut-down: 48.00V DC input low restart: 52.00V DC input low pre-alarm: 49.00V SOC low shut-down: 10% VE Configure Charger Tab Absorption Voltage: 55.00V Float Voltage: 54.80 Charge Curve…

First time forum "poster" here 🙂 Not sure if this question have been asked in the forum before, I currently have 6x 3000 and 2x 2000Plus Pylontec batteries (total 😎 hooked up to a Sunsynk 8kw inverter. I do believe this is the max total for a single battery bank configuration. I would like to expand the battery bank with either one or two additional 3000C Pylontec batteries. Would I require Pylontec HUB to achieve this or would it be the acceptable to add the one\two additional 3000C to the battery bank, seeing that the 3000C batteries can be configure with max bank size of 16 batteries? Obviously a 3000C to be master battery. Any advice or guidance will be mu…

Here in the Netherlands you can buy the Pylontech US5000 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery with a capacity of 4,8 kWh. Here on the forum I only see the other battery with the same capacity namely the Pylontech UP5000. Just a subtle difference in model number but is a big difference in specifications. Are they using a different battery technology in these modules?

Starting a separate thread for my battery build, in case anyone is interested. Basic bank is complete, but still trying to get someone to make up the output cables. 16s3p pack of 120AH 2nd life cells from LithiumbatteriesSA using DALY 250A Smart BMS. Been stuck with the work thing for a few days, but just got an hour or two to play, and have an Arduino talking RS-485 to the BMS and getting all the basic stats back. Have also found another Arduino sketch that apparently spits out Pylon compatible CAN messages, so I should be able to translate DALY->Pylon for the inverter, when it arrives.

I am new on the forum and new in this field. Please have mercy on a retired person. I need help with a system that my son uses at home. It is a Mecer 5KVA inverter that he uses as a backup for load shedding. It is connected to the utility supply and takes over automatically. When in use it is supplied by four 200A/h gel batteries. No solar panels involved. The system is in use for two years now and the batteries has packed up. I suspect that the batteries discharged to low. When the system is in use, it supplies a fridge, freezer, two fans, three 40" TV's, modem, 2x decoders and PS4 with monitor for about 4.5 hours when the batteries were still fine. During load shed…

Hi everyone. Some input, ideas, alternatives please!! I currently have 2 Hubble AM-4 24V lithium batteries for sale in the classifieds section. They are basically brand new. About 12 cycles on them each. I have a 48v Sunsynk setup now. I have been thinking what to do if the batteries do not sell. 24V is not in that big of a demand. Obviously I cannot sell them for less than they are advertised currently and I cannot just pack them away. So far I can think of 2 options. Option 1: Purchase a basic 24v inverter/charger that will play nice with lithium batteries. As cheap and basic as possible. (Any recommendations would be welcome.) …

Hi all, Has anybody had experience with Segen Solar's package consisting of the Axpert King paired with Giter LFP batteries? We've had endless trouble trying to achieve stability - inverter firmware issues, communication cable issues, random battery shut down (Error 10) etc.

Hi Everyone I have a sunsynk 8kw inverter installed with 16 x 300w panels. This is running with 16 x 200Ah gel batteries. The inverter was installed in December 2021to replace an old technology inverter. Batteries were replaced in July last year so I decided to stick with the gel batteries for now. Will replace it later on. The inverter is brilliant at efficiency, visibility and also very user-friendly. I have searched through the forum and wasn't able to find anything that answers my question so apologies if it has been answered. The concern I have is that it makes use of the battery power at night to supplement nonessential loads. I would like to save…

My 2 x Hubble AM2s where installed in December. All running great leaving me with around 40% SOC by 8:00 in the morning. Set to run the house from 18:00 at night. Nothing changed in usage patterns since then but suddenly I have 25% by 8:00. Normally by 21:00 at night Id have 80% and that is now down to 73%. Any idea where to start looking? How can you check SOH without the RIOT? Inverter is a Sunsynk 5kw.

I am contemplating another DIY project, which would require a BIG BMS, and was contemplating what it would take to make a really cheap and simple cell-top BMS. Here is a really crude diagram of what I have so far: The microprocessor can be just about anything capable of running off a power supply between 2V and 3.8V, with 8 IO ports, 2 UARTS (or capable of 2 software UARTS at 115kbps) and one ADC capable of measuring the supply voltage. The charge pumps can be driven off an H-bridge motor controller, and should easily be able to push 1A up (or down) to the next cell each. Comms between adjacent cells is by simple capacitive coupling. Only …

Hi there, some help/advice needed please? I have: Fullcircle Solar Inverter 3Kw, same as Axpert I assume Victron BMV-702 BMS Victron Battery Balancer 4 x 400 Watt Solar Panels Currently 2 x Inkwenkwezi GEL-VRLA 100Ah Batteries, in Series for 24V Had 2 x Omnipower AGM/Gel 180Ah Batteries, see issues below My Issue: First battery in the bank died, when there is load (~400-600Watts) the first battery would very quickly go down to 8-10Volts, causing the overall to go down to 21V then the inverter switches off, second battery fine. I then replaced these batteries with the Inkwenkwezi ones (Didn't have a …

Hi guys What is the proper way to protect battery banks with fuses? My current installation (4 x 4 strings 12V) does not have any fuses on it. There is a breaker between the inverter and the battery bank but no fuses. Should each individual battery have a fuse (between the 4 batteries in a string or should I only install a fuse per string? I assume it is sufficient to only put a fuse on either the positive or negative of the battery, not both? How do I size the fuses? What should their rating be? Can anyone recommend fuses? Cobus

What are the options for a utility or fridge battery for in vehicle use? Most likely switchable between charging from the car or from a solar panel depending on situation. I see these Hoselect batteries are cheap at R3,300 for 200AH and the form factor makes it easy to add to the bakkie loadbin. https://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/543049507/12V_200AH_Slimline_Gel_Battery_Hoselect.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAuvOPBhDXARIsAKzLQ8HS3PUYkQvJBZLS0xW_v0Y5yNpLFElFpgt6pLpk6PDyst1cQlPjCugaAsVjEALw_wcB How about building a 100ah battery from 32700 cells? About R4,400 for batteries thus say R6k complete? https://lithiumbatteriessa.co.za/collections/cells/products/3-2v-6ah-lifepo…

I have a recently installed 8kw Sunsynk, 2 x Hubble AM2 batteries and 14 x 390W panels. Early on, I was a little bit concerned by the battery performance. When measuring the change in SOC vs the kwH discharged (from the Solarman app - I used the change in "Total Discharging Energy" to measure this and it was consistent with what I was seeing on the inverter panel), I was only getting an average of about 0.75kwH per 10% discharge (typically running SOC from 100% to 35%) . This implied a total capacity of 7.5kwH instead of the expected 11kwH. My installer, in consultation with Hubble, thought it might be an equalisation issue and charged and discharged both batteries u…

Good day to all. I would like to know if this is normal, when my battery reaches full SOC I see quite a big difference in the 16 cells voltage and one of them cell number 8 does not take full charge. see attached dashboard. is this normal ? I don't want to name the battery make just yet. However I contacted the OEM and they recommend I bring the battery over for them to balance the cells. That worries me a bit as they don't want to tell me what the procedure is, I'm afraid they will charge the battery to a very high level thus reducing the life span of my battery. Please your opinion will be highly appreciated.
