    Hi all, What sort of tests would one do when buying used/ secondhand lithium battery other than measuring the voltage? Most lithium batteries have smart parameters, so believe it will be possible to read the number of cycles and SOC status? Some people have issues handing out original invoices because they claim it contains their personal details, but I find it strange because you will already know their first names, probably last names via TrueCaller if you have their number, and invoices rarely have customer address; so that claim doesn't hold water. I would personally ask for the original invoice if the battery is new/ or few months old just to satisfy myself tha…

I have a Solax SK-SU5000E inverter. I was blown away by the good pricing of the new battery (I compared it to the SecondLife 5.1 by Revov) and it compares very favourably with it out-specking it on every front except being 300W smaller. But I had never heard of LTE corp. My early research place it as a very large telekoms player which did not inspire me too much.     I recently bought 16 x 3.2V LiFePO4 cells, they were top-balanced before assembly into a 48V battery and then connected to a Axpert 5kVa Inverter/charger. The Axperts' settings are 55V max (3.44V per cell), 48V cut-off (3.0V per cell) and monitored remotely through a Pi with ICC. A 2A active balancer is permanently connected and currently there is a variance of about 0.085V or less between cells. Temps below zero are not expected. I've been told that this is not sufficient and that a BMS MUST be used and that an active balancer should NOT be connected permanently. Is this correct?

We have multiple sites running with PSS SH-series inverters (http://pss.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/PSS-Distributors-SH-Series-Inverter-Brochure.pdf) together with Omnipower OPR batteries.     Hi all My lead acid cells seem to be coming to EOL. I'm thinking of going with a DIY LFP solution. I've noticed these cells for sale: 100AH 3.2v 2nd Life LiFePO4 (lithiumbatteriessa.co.za) Anyone had experience with this seller? Anyone else attempted to do this yourself? I built an eBike and used a smaller version of this JBD 200a SMART BMS. They are fully customisable in terms of cut-off voltages, balancing, etc. and on my eBike, that BMS has been incredible rock-solid.   7. Hi Gents, I got myself 2 x sets of Revov 2nd life batteries with the BMS systems. My current setup is 48V(4 x 100ah batteries), can I run them together on the same system, looks like my current 48V system draws power from the Revov system, almost like getting charged.     We have over the last 2 years collected a little warehouse of led acid batteries through UPS's that go flat during loadshedding / interruption and stops to work after 3 - 4 full drain cycles. Some of these were our own mistakes (not knowing how these batteries work) but some unfortunately was out of our control, having said that, the result remains the same. So, I have gone ahead and purchased a battery tester, digital meters and a "trickle charger" and want to know some basics: Given what I have, what is the best way to test if a battery is a gonner?     Hi guys My setup is as follows: 8 330w panels in series 5.5kw vmii plus hybrid inverter 4 200ah oliter gel batteries in series to get 48v My problem is that the batteries discharge and charge way too fast.Last night with load shedding i ran a load of 250w and battery voltage want down from 51.6 to 47v in under three minutes.On the day before i ran a tv of 130w and same thing happened.Also when it is on Ac batteries charge to full 52v in under three minutes.Something is fishy here.During sunny weather i can run a load of 1200w of my panels with no problem.     We have been experiencing a lot of power outage ... over and above load shedding during the past few months ... this setup is only used as a backup power supply (old RCT 5 kva inverter) The pic attached is the standard curve seen whenever we loose power ... as the batteries age and we add more load ... so the standby time shortens. We could go 4 -5 months without loosing power ... for this reason I have set the charge current at only 10 amps ... and as you can see in the attached pic ... it only takes 3 hours to charge the batteries.     My installer completed my installation over the weekend. Tomorrow would be the last day he is coming and I raised some questions with him but I am not totally sure about the setup. 1)He plugged the battery comms cable on CAN and battery setting on "Use Batt %" and not lithium(Alarm goes off when trying to change to lithium-tried changing to Rs485A with no luck). Is this correct? I saw on another post that a user did in actual fact connect the deye to the shoto battery. 2) My usage shown on the touch screen only shows usage on the backup load and not overall house usage.   13. Just a bit of FYI Bought a BMS from lithiumbatterySA.co.za where the BMS suddenly stopped working after about a month. I chatted to the tech department who basically said there is nothing they can do and said it was just from wear and tear. (Ive had it a month). This was pretty amusing as a few days prior the same tech guy said it was probably a loose/bad weld on the board. I stated that i thought it came with a 1 year warranty but they said there was nothign they can do.     So we have load shedding and bad weather. What a combination. I can mitigate against this by charging my batteries ahead of the load shed slots. But how fast can I charge? On the Goodwe inverter charging from grid means Economy mode. This expresses rate of charge as a % of rated current? I called the guy from Revov, he says 60A to 80A is good. But Goodwe wants a percentage. The settings on my Goodwe show charge current at 90.23 A. So can I say 80/90.23 = 88% and charge at that %age?

    I have 4x 100ah AGM Batteries (mainly to get though loadshedding), grid tied. I'm curious about the exact correct settings to charge on my Deye 5K and what voltage I should consider "empty, do not cross" Typical loadshedding at night brings battery percentage down to about 86% / 49V after 2 hours Does it make a big difference how fast this type of battery charges?

I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly in order to maximize it's life span. Not using BMS, I'm using the settings on the Growatt to charge, discharge and float voltages.   18. Greetings everyone. I'm hoping someone can give me a hand to read RS485 data from my Pylontech batteries. I have connected my Pylontech batteries (4x US3000) to a Raspberry Pi through a RS485 cable connected to a USB to RS485 converter. I am running the Pyloncom.py software (downloaded pylon485-elbow.zip from this post). I had to change the baud rate in the software to 9600 before I could get any readings, but after that change it managed to detect the 4 batteries and retrieve data from them. The problem is that the data I am receiving does not look accurate, particularly the BatterySOC reading and the RemainingAh readings. What is even more strange …

I have two questions regarding the communication of the batteries, 1. First of all I want to connect the barriers with each other so they can communicate with one another.   22. Good day, I have been battling with this new behaviour for a few days, since upgrading the US3000A from V1.3 to V3.4 (updated due to requirement to add 2 x US3000C). Update went fine and new BMS battery screens are available in the Victron Display as expected. The ESS system is set to Keep Batteries Charged, as the system is basically used as a UPS. The night time charging is where things changed after the Pylontech update, no other settings were changed and there are now coms errors or alarms, etc. The charge mode now cycles between Bulk and Absorption and the 48V BUS Voltage between 50.2V and 52.4V (previously it was kept at 52.4V (Battery is at 10…

    I've mentioned this before. I get a puzzling situation on my system where reported SOC makes a sudden jump. This happened today Now this has been worrying me. It's happened quote a lot lately. The jump always happens when 1) SOC drops to 40% or lower 2) When reported SOC rises back to 70ish %. So what do I believe? The 70 or the 100? I mailed Revov. They sent somebody out to test the batteries. This pleased me - I have some support. The technician checked ONLY the batteries. This seemed fair to me. The rest of the system is not theirs.     Hi all. I hope well. I am assisting a chap that has 2V cells x 12 for 24V. They pretty old. Unfortunately he does not have the financial capacity to purchase a new bank I recommended a battery desulfator. As the units are fairly old. I have seen some videos on YouTube of a some battery desulfators are permanently hooked up to the battery bank and deliver the pulse x amount of times during the day or week.
