Morning Admin! I want to purchase a lithium battery to be charged by my National Luna split charger. However, the temp is high in the engine bay of the land cruiser. What do you recommended? I also want to use the battery as standby for home, since i have a 50w enersol panel which I use for camping trips. Pls share your thoughts. Pierre

Good morning users. I have a small PV system installing last year comprising of: 6 x 330W PV panels, Kodak OG 5.48 inverter, a separate DB for essentials (lights Fridge and freezer, 400 AGM 100AH batteries which has a fuse installed before the inverter. The batteries have failed and the installer cant assist as according to him they only carry a six month guarantee. I have purchased a Pylontech UP5000 plus cables as a replacement. Assistance and advice would be appreciated in removing the old batteries and installing the new Pylontech. I am totally new to Solar, any tips would be great, I don't want to damage anything.

I am have a 20kva solar system, my 5.1kva battries was fully charged we only use 200 to 400 watts in the evening and my battries is totally drained. Can it be my settings on my Growatt inverters because according to me my battries still needed to be 50% full

I have two 12v AGM batteries connected in series to give the required output of 24v connected to a 3Kva Expert king inverter tied to the grid with no solar panels. The unit is for backup purposes only. The voltage settings on the inverter are 22 volts min and a 27 volt maximum. As we can go for weeks without a power outage is it necessary to have the inverter charging the batteries even thou the batteries are not being used. My question is should I disconnect the batteries and switch off the inverter for a two or three days a week... Thanks in advance..

Hey there. I'm planning to "work from home", with my VW kombi. So tired of the home environment and changing the scenery. I was wondering if anyone had a link to a study of LiFePO4 batteries and differences in their capacity under light loads compared to heavier loads? I know LiFePO4 capacity is often stated at 0.5C, but what about at 0.1C? Thanks!

It's an overcast day on the highveld. My battery has been dropping, dropping, dropping all morning, and finally hit the discharge depth I set. So it starts charging from mains. But only just. With PV going, when the battery is 100% charged it still draws about 120w which I assume is just to keep it topped up. When charging from mains it is pulling just 90w. Why not more? The pool pump, the hair dryer, everything else happily pulls whatever they need from city power, but my battery is barely ticking over. You can't even say it's charging. Again I don't know if this is usual or not.

Hi. I have a Narada 48NPFC100 connected up to a 5kVA Voltronic inverter (Skyking) and have a bit of what another user wrote, buyers remorse. First issue: The inverter is connected to a raspberry PI and I read all the stats I require from the inverter, but the inverter has no idea what the battery is up to and reports very dodgy statistics on the battery current as I have read on this forum. The battery is connected to the same raspberry PI using a RS485 TTL adapter and I figured out that the slave id of the battery is (38), but cannot read any of the registers from there. I have a 5K Dyness I haven't been too concerned about loadshedding... And my system is primarily Grid tied... but with looking increasing stages of loadshedding, I actually lose money if the grid is off and obviously during loadshedding I don't have electricity from the solar. If I want to get a small battery to start off with, can anyone provide me with some suggestions and/or the thought process in this regard? We installed a solar system at our office about 3 months back. Running a total of 48x415W Canadian Sun Panels. 4x Victron 250/100 MPPT controllers 1x Victron Quattro 48/10000/140 6x PylonTech US3000C batteries. We want to add either another 6x US3000C batteries and keep the 2 banks the same, or add 6x UP5000 batteries. Now my question is. The 2 different models has different charging rates and discharging rates. Is it worth mixing the 2 sets, or do you recommend we keep it the same? Will the UP5000 be under utilised as of it’s a US3000C? Keep in mind they all connect to the MPPT controllers and inverter via a DC BUS BAR

Hi all, I currently have a large investment in lead acid batteries. I want to add lithium iron batteries to the whole system so I can run them down further. Dunno if this has been discussed before, but I have a decent 12v impact drill that is lying in the workshop, unused as the NiCad packs are FUBAR. Now a shop like S&P can repack them at R260 each ex-VAT. But then I still have NiCad with dodgy performance, slow recharge and low Ah ratings. Good afternoon. I went to a client that has 2 x 5KW Axpert inverters installed, and was told that this morning it did not change over to utility to charge the batteries. This is not some thing that happens everyday. The setting voltage point back to utility source when selecting Solar first in program 01 has been increased to 49V.The Float voltage for the batteries has been set to 51.2V. The setting voltage point back to battery mode when selecting solar first in program 01 is set to 52.0V. The bulk charging voltage is set to 52.5V and the Float charging voltage is set to 51.2V. Could someone point me to an authorative (sp?) test to show the value of BMS? I run several battery systems and have yet to see negative consequences of cell imbalance. The constant drawing down of high Voltage cells and pumping up of low voltage ones must waste energy? My cells each seem to find their happy place until they give up the ghost, at which time I just replace the dead cell. What possibly can go wrong, go wrong, go wrong....

I have been wondering how the number of cycles is calculated by the battery BMS. If a battery is rated for 4000 cycles to a DOD of 80%, how would the BMS calculate the cycles if I only discharge it to 60%?

Hi, Been searching for a while but can’t quite get the answer. I have a multiplus II (5kVa) installed with 3x 3000C Pylontec batteries. The system has been running with only 2 of the batteries since installation as the one battery cable was dead on arrival. The replacement cable has arrived and would really want to connect the other battery without having to wait for the installer. How difficult is it to install the third battery - Will I need to make any changes to the settings on the inverter ? Physically connecting the battery seems easy enough. Thanks everyone

Hi, Hoping someone can help me size my battery bank as I move from deep-cycle lead-acid to Lithiums. On my 24V setup on average I use 40Ah in a 24hr cycle, so about 1kWh. This is all DC and powers my security cameras, internet, laptop, DC water pump, 12V lighting. I am wanting to add a fridge that uses 1.8kWh as well as my TV, which I estimate 1kWh (TV is set to a power saving mode, but is on most of the time when I get home at night). So 2.8kWh total on AC (I got to these values using a power meter on the mains).
