SunSynk 5kW, 8kW and 12kW latest firmware version

I was able to upgrade my Wifi Data logger using the attached firmware file (provided by Deye support).

Sunsynk/Deye are unable to upgrade that device remotely so you need to do it yourself by connecting to the Data Logger's Wifi Access Point, as described in the manual (also attached).

For reference my Data Logger hardware version is: AEW2-0005-03 Check yours before upgrading and proceed at your own risk if it's not identical. This may or may not work for other hardware versions and/or the Ethernet data logger.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! (but do let us know if you brick your data logger, for education's sake 😉 )

What is your software version?

Mine is 4790122A12R now.

@Be4dawn You may be able to see it in your https://sunsynk.net/ account, under Equipment/Gateway. But this depends on the permissions your installer has given to you. Alternatively, use the PDF attached to connect directly to your Data Logger's Wifi AP, then browse to http://10.10.10.1/ where the version & other info will be displayed. That is also where you'll be able to do the upgrade.

Aah thanks found it. So I assume when sunsynk oushes the nee firmware that would change aswell?

No I don't think so. The support guy told me that data logger firm/software can't be upgraded remotely; that's why I asked them for the file. I'll ask again every now and then and will share any upgrade files in this thread.

Hi @Planck, did the updated firmware add any additional or new features at all?

@ZCS Not that I've noticed. Perhaps just bug-fixes. 🤷‍♂️

Glad to hear your upgrade worked. 👍

Are you getting a W31 warning on your 12KW 3ph? If not, which batteries and firmware are you running?

@Milan188 Looking back at the fault codes it seems I've only had that alarm twice: July 20th & July 27 2022. I don't remember what happened at the time or what firmware was loaded. If it was something serious I'm sure I would have remembered the incident.

You may as well request an upgrade. I'm currently running:

COMM: 1001-E030

MCU: 1123-2005-1807

Thank you. Will try that.

Did you change any BMS cables after the 27th of July?

@Milan188 Yes, can confirm having received/seen W31 a few times and can definitely confirm it is related to the BMS comms.   I have Solar Assistant, Cloudlink and Hubble all connected and can relate to times when testing and configuring all these cables, the minute you see Li BMS loose display, within a minute thereof a W31 appears.  Automatically corrects after BMS comms restored.

Thanks for checking.

I haven't seen the warning since I upgraded to the E30 comms firmware. Hopefully that sorts it out. Looks like this is only happening on the 12kw 3ph models.

So I really think there's a bug on the system timer on 12kw inverters. Please check and confirm if you guys also have this bug.

If you set the power limit on the system timer to a lower value does it limit the discharge rate of the battery? On my inverter it doesn't do anything and the battery keeps discharging at a higher rate. Initially, setting the timer to start and end at midnight solved the issue but now that also doesn't work.

I am on the latest firmware.

I own a 12Kw Deye and I can confirm there seems to be a bug in the time of use (timer) on this inverters. Mine acted very strange when I was ending the "Time of Use" cycle in the last row somewhere around  3-4AM... debated this with Deye and they said everything looks normal but I think the inverter does not refresh the time of use table correctly if you change to much around the predefined time table.
Then I made a factory reset and tried to work around time table in a different way where I end up on the last line at around 12-1AM ... then all seems to work ok.

Time on the inverter is 17:59 and I play with the time of use between 12 and 13 and the inverter changes behavior right away.

Very Stnage behavior ....

My upgrade came through in two parts, a couple of hours apart. "C" updated first (as per my original post). Later "M" updated. Now I'm on:

M 2005-1123 / S  18-07 / C 1001-E030

Note: When "M" updated the inverter provided no power for ~5min, i.e. internal load shedding 😆. This did not happen when "C" updated.

SunSynk 12K Updated - 22 November 2022

Original MCU versions:

M 2004-1108 / S  18-07 / C 1001-E024

New MCU versions:

M 2004-1123 / S  18-07 / C 1001-E030

Please let me know how you all go about getting the upgrade done.

I have 18 x 8kw sunsynk invertors and i am battling to get them updated.

1 invertor is on a different version and is now causing everything to not work during loadshedding.

I am in desperate need of assistance,

Sunsynk turnaround time is taking too long and they try update when we are in loadshedding and thus have no power.

@Tarryn AFAIK the official channel is via this form: https://www.sunsynk.org/up-grade

But you can also email: [email protected] who is on the update team. They are the person (gender & name unknown) that supplied me with the firmware file for the data logger (attached earlier in this thread), which you have to upgrade manually. Be warned: inverter firmware upgrades, once requested, happen without notice and often result in a few minutes of downtime so plan it carefully and bear in mind that fanyj@ is 6 hours ahead of us.

P.S. Please start a new post somewhere to show off your 18 inverter setup. We'd love to see some photos of them and your PV array! I assume this is a commercial not residential setup?
