Unfortunately no stock and no longer show on any of the builders systems including online shop. The chap there seemed to recall that the rep took them all back. Would love 2 if anybody could find stock and was willing to ship. The product has never shown up on the BW website - not good show for BW online team... I was at BW Edenvale on Friday and they do have some in stock of the DIN rail units @ R349. I also saw something new - the cBi Astute Isolator switch. I could not see more information as the Astutes are locked in a glass cabinet at BWs. I would guess that it switches both L and N and has higher current capability than the normal Astutes but am open to correction. An informed source has told me that approx 4000 of the new wall plug Astutes are ready for shipping ! ENERGY MONITORING - YouTube

Not really new, but you can buy it at https://www.liteglo.co.za/shop/cbi-astute-smart-isolator/ and the PDFs available at https://cbi-lowvoltage.co.za/asi ps. cant wait for the astute smart plugs to be available.
June 11, 20215 yr I am also trying to find a Astute controller at one of the local BW stores in Durban if anyone has seen any instore?
June 13, 20215 yr sorry i cannot get a clear answer from their website, does this unit show Power consumption or amps drawn also? And it does not work with ewelink software?

CBi shows amps, power, voltage and total power consumed for each cBi Astute. Ewelink is for Sonoff devices - totally different product 😬 Astute works with the cBi app.

June 15, 20215 yr I got the wall plug version of Astute. I have connected it and it works just like the DIN rail mounted version.
June 18, 20215 yr Just thought I'd post an update on using the CBI Astute with Home Assistant. I have it working without having to Tasmotize it or open it or do anything silly to it. I ignored the CBI app and simply added it using the Tuya Smart app. BUT, it didn't seem to like auto-pairing with my phone. (I ended up trying it with CBI app as well to troubleshoot and it didn't work there either). What I ended up doing was putting the Astute in AP mode (which doesn't appear to be documented) by holding the power down for 5 secs to put into normal pairing mode, and then holding it down again to put it AP mode (it will slow flash the blue light instead), then add manually in Tuya Smart, I just chose Others (wifi), follow the prompts, connect to the AP (which was SmartLife-2701 for me) and boom! Shows up as ASC (Wifi) with CBI logos and backgrounds in all the right places, with the power monitoring working correctly. As for home assistant I haven't gone any further that using the built Tuya integration which only shows it as a switch, but there is something else on HACS called Local Tuya which allows full customisation including power monitoring. I haven't gone down that rabbit-hole yet because it's time for beer. Edited June 18, 20215 yr by charliesjc It's called Local Tuya
June 20, 20215 yr I bought 4 ASC units at builders ... got to the till ... new price R400 ... called the manager and got the price reduced ... I hear when the new shipment arrives it will be at the "new price" ... so I purchased all the units left in the store. The only reason I buy these units ... is because of the price ... they are a nuisance if the power goes off and ... you have to either schedule it to reset on or press the manual on/off ... bit of a pain and the fact that it doesnt work when their is no internet ... becomes a pain ... you have to deal with customer complaints. In most cases ... we connect the unit using the smart life ... it just makes it easier to use the one app with smart lights we supply to customers I have encountered a few issues while installing them on various sites ... routers (there is documentation with a solution) and 5 GHz (you just have to make sure the specific AP for that area of the property is set to 2.4GHz. A lot of people don't know what their alarm system is capable of ... fortunately for me I am electrician ... and I have spent 5 years training as an alarm technician ... I have a full IDS X64 system with all the components hyyp/I?O modules/ Xwave2/ remote receivers/ output expanders/etc ... mounted on my office wall ... you can do anything from scheduling lights ...pool pumps or pool lights to switch on/off to opening the garage door or gate ... switching on the coffee machine in the morning at 5 am ... via and app a switch on the on the new touch keypads or a remote. You can even switch on lights in a room using the PIR on the wall with a time off delay ... and if you were smart and installed the right CCTV system ... you can get notifications on your phone if a PIR or beam is triggered ... with a pre a post video recording ... this is very handy if you get a lot of false alarms.
June 20, 20215 yr If you looking for a smart power meter ... there is a unit called a sense power meter ... it looks like Schneider have also realized how smart it is and added it to their wiser platform
June 20, 20215 yr This thing is expensive ... but for what it can do ... I might just get one to try it out. https://sense.com/
July 28, 20214 yr @Tariq Hi there, please assist me on pairing the smart controller with my cellphone. The following boxes are ticked. Wifi speed, password, same phone, steps followed both manually and scan. To start with the red light does not go off. It reacts to blink or stable. No blue/purple light ever shine. I'm not qualified in elect. Or IT 😊
July 30, 20214 yr Author Hi @Elsa Have you tried following @charliesjc instructions above? If you're still not able to succeed, let me know and I'll try helping you out. I had to repair mine a few weeks back and made some notes, important to note is that your router's DNS needs to point to 8.8.8.8.

And it does not work with ewelink software? I think that the CBI Astute stuff is all TUYA compatible. There is a nice new integration in Home Assistant for TUYA so they should be able to hook right in. Not sure if they can be reflashed with ESPHome or Tasmota.
August 20, 20214 yr https://github.com/tuya/tuya-home-assistant Tuya V2 looks pretty cool and allows for LAN control of your Tuya Switches so response is much better than via the cloud
October 1, 20214 yr I have connected a few for my clients but could not discover anything on them from home assistant.I’m thinking adding a Sonof basic to power it up and set the power on state to “on”

You can also use theSmartlife phone app if you prefer to the CBI app

November 6, 20214 yr What is the wifi fallover behaviour on these? i.e if they lose wifi do they default to ON or OFF? (Asking for the long haired clan who will gently casserole me if the water isn't hot......)
November 7, 20214 yr Just to add that I bought one of these. Managed to get it linked to the Tuya app and then (with great difficulty I might add thanks to Tuya trying to limit the capabilities of their devices) to Homeassistant via the native Tuya v2 integration. I now have two issues.... 1. I can't find an automation that will turn the geyser on and off according to a schedule? The only was to do that seems to be via the Tuya app. 2. We've just come out of a loadshedding run - the phase that the switch and geyser are on is not on the inverter. So the switch was powered off. When power comes on again, the switch should be on according to the schedule but it is off. Anyone got any ideas?

As with most of these types of devices, they are triggered by certain events (at least with the schedule functionality in the app), e.g. turn on at 8am, then off at 12pm. If your device does not have power at 8am, and is powered on at 10am, it will not power on. I have one of these astute devices, and they work so well!
November 8, 20214 yr Well he has it connected to Home Assistant. So here is another way to turn it on. Basically, this automation run every minute. If the conditions (start and end time to be on) are met, then we turn it on. automation: ## Whole night - alias: "Turn on outside lights and check every minute - whole night" trigger: - platform: time_pattern # You can also match on interval. This will match every x minutes minutes: "/1" condition: condition: or conditions: - condition: sun after: sunset #after_offset: "00:20:00" - condition: sun before: sunrise #before_offset: "-00:20:00" action: - service: light.turn_on entity_id: - light.lights_whole_night In this case I am turning on a group of lights during the start of sunset and end of sunset. You can do the same with the geyser. Then you just need another automation to turn it off again afterwards. This is one way of doing it, there are unlimited ways of doing this in home assistant.

Thanks. Will take a look. I was also thinking of Node-Red’ing it - if time between x and y and incoming power present then turn on switch.
November 9, 20214 yr Anyone purchased one of these units recently ... I bought a couple a few month ago ... installed a couple for customers. Then last week I fitted 1 into a space in the DB between 2 others ... the 2 older units are working fine ... linked the new unit and noticed the LED colour was different ... when the other units are unlatched ... the light is on blue ... when latched the red light flashes and the blue is on in the background. When all the units are in standby (unlatched) ... they should all be blue ... indicated they are connected to the wifi. The new ASC works ... it switches on and off manually on the big button ... and works on the app ... you cans set schedules and it operates ... but my abc OCD got the better of me ... I removed the unit ... returned it as faulty and fitted the brand new replacement ASC ... to find the light is the same as the faulty one ... it is going to drive me nuts ... I found another older unit that is working the correct way ... blue light on in standby ... so I will swop it. Maybe a faulty batch supplied to builders ?
