I got a replacement Solar Assistant Pi but with start up it only starts up with the orange Pi logo, no Solar Assistant. i did a restore from my profile via SD card. it only allows you to run in trail mode for 7 days before restoring your old profile. Two questions will the software now only be on the SD card and not be imbedded on the Orange Pi anymore? will the issue with the battery totalizers correct itself once my full profile is active again?

I have my current raspi solar assistant directly connected to my Lead Acid battery terminals with their supplied DC to USB power supply. Can I do the same on my Hubble AM-2 battery, or will it interfere with the BMS, or is the raspi current drain negligible in this regard?🤔

Hi All This might be a stupid question, but I am not winning with this simple integration in Home Assistant. With Solar Assistant, all the load sensors are created with Watt as the unit. I convert these sensors to KW via means of an integration sensor as follows: - platform: integration source: sensor.battery_power name: Battery Power unit_prefix: k method: left round: 2 This allows me to add the relevant sensors to the Home Assistant Energy Dashboard. The one that has me stumped though is the battery. Home Assistant requires a battery in and battery out sensor. The Battery out I …

Hi everyone, I have a some questions about totals in Solar Assistant, 1. The "Load" is the total amount consumed, why does it not include the value when it is only on battery? If it also includes part of what is consumed. 2. The "Solar PV" includes what is consumed in the "Load" plus a little of the inverter consumption, but it does not include the battery charge? 3. The "Used Grid" is the used part of the network but it is not clear if it is part of the "Load".

Dear all, I trust this post finds you in good health. My initial encounter with the automated table caught my attention, prompting me to join the beta and implement updates. While most aspects appear to be functioning well, I've encountered a significant issue with Deye Parallel inverters. Unfortunately, I've lost control over the export power function, a setting crucial to my operations. Given the importance of this setting to my workflow, I am considering reverting to the stable version after re-flashing my disk. Please find attached evidence documenting this bug for your reference. Thank you.

Can Hubitat and Solar Assistant connect to each other? There's nothing off the shelf, but wondering if it's remotely possible if I can find someone who can code? The sort of thing I want to acheive is.... if I'm exporting, then turn something on. Or if it's sunny tomorrow, then don't charge the batteries tonight.

Hi, when will AN epever tracer regulators be supported? There are many of us who use them and it would be great to integrate them into solar assistant. Thank you

Hi all, Not sure if the SA devs read these posts. So since JHb City Power updated their schedules AGAIN, the source SA uses to for schedules is out of whack again. Somehow I don't think that source currently used is updated frequently and this can mess with the new automations in SA. EskomSePush (ESP) are now giving away API keys again for personal use - so could we possibly get a feature in SA to input our own API keys and then SA uses their API to get the info? Link to get an API key for personal use: https://eskomsepush.gumroad.com/l/api Cheers Douw

Hello, I'm facing a problem and I'm asking for your help to solve it. 3 months ago I replaced the easun smv 4 5.6 kw inverter with another Dextromn 10.2 kw inverter that only has an rj 45 port where the wifi module is connected with it communicates with the watch power manufacturer's application, and I have solar assistant. How can I connect solar assistant to communicate with the wifi module so I can use both applications. Thank you.

I have a problem connecting SA to Mikrotik Hap Ac2 Dual Band. Tested the SA pi orange connected to single band router without a problem even connects to my smartphone hotspot. Any work around to get Solar Assistant pi orange connected to a dual band router to access internet. Unfortunately the client has the Microtik dual band and will not change to single band router. Any help on above matter will be appreciated.

After tripping my Inverter recently, I rebooted inverter/battery/mains/raspberry unit. Since then my battery is showing around 21% whilst my inverter shows a "full" a battery (and stops charging) at 54.4V Any ideas how I can reset so it shows the correct % or shouldn't I worry about it ? Thanks

I'm trying to work out my daily usage from SA stats. If I look at 6th April for example my load was 13.8kWh. Is that my total 24hr usage? I'm not sure as PV was 15.7 and battery was charged and discharged equally the same so what happened to that extra PV? Eskom mains breaker is switched off and whole house is being powered off grid for now.

Morning all, after a lengthy struggle to establish communication between my Kodak inverters and batteries, I purchased a Raspberry 2 Model B. With Solar-Assistant, I managed to retrieve some data from my inverters. I also ordered a Shoto/Rentech RS485 cable and, following the instructions, connected it to the Raspberry, resetting the dip switches — Main on 1, 2nd on 2, and 3rd one on 1,2. However, I don't receive any information from my batteries. Here are the settings on the Raspberry: Settings: Battery USB Serial RS 232/485 and Port USBO FT232R USB UART. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all, After i have updated to the latest beta my charts are not showing up. Everything other is working fine - totals are displayed and they are correct. When i inspect the network tab of my browser i see that on the requests to grafana response code is 502. Here is an example: https://<my_sa_url>.eu.solar-assistant.io/grafana/d-solo/sa-charts?orgId=1&refresh=1m&panelId=3 What can be the cause for this behaviour?

Suddenly Grid out and battery discharged is showing up as negative, which could be an attempt to show direction of flow, in addition to the name of the entity. Problem is that in Homeassistant engergy dashboard, where it shows e.g. net energy consumed, the calculation is now incorrect. It also causes the energy use graphic incorrectly Anyone else noticed this? Thanks

Hello All Quite new to this stuff and have had some very good help with other topics on solar from a number of people on the forum so many thanks for that. I am thinking of adding solar assistant as a method to monitor both my pv and batteries. I will get a PI model 3 and then a copy of the software to flash to the PI. I have an Axpert MKS 4 5.5 Kw inverter and a pair of pylontech us5000 batteries. If I fit the pi in the solar cupboard and have it powered from there and I add a usb from the PI to the usb on the inverter will this then connect the PI to the inverter or do I need to add a USB to rs232 adaptor to connect to the comm port on my inverter and th…

Hi All, 😁 I need some help please ― I am using SA and have activated the MQTT feature with the Topic prefix as "sunsynk", allowed "Allow setting changes" and entered credentials at the bottom. Saved and started MQTT. Im not using Home Assistant just yet, but still want to pull data via MQTT to a Node-Red instance I have that has some automation stuff. This is where I'm running into issues 🤦🏼♂️ When I add a MQTT node in Node-Red, configure it with the Solar Assistant MQTT details (IP address, MQTT port and credentials), give it the same "sunsynk" topic, connect it to a debug node and deploy it, I get absolutely no messages. But if I open …

Hi, I have decided sa would be a good addition to my system. I would be buying the software only. I have a pi3a around that is not used, and am concerned about it having only one usb port. My battery and inverter communication is good so this setup would be fine. I would like to find out what the benefits are when connecting the battery to the pi? If the benefits are good I'll swap around pi's to use a 3b instead. Thank you

Afternoon All, Since starting with SA, I sometimes see that the Pi disappears off my local network. It usually does this for about 10 or 15 minutes and then returns by itself. Sometimes it will disappear for half a day and I try to reboot the Pi using the Bluetooth connection. In all instances, no data is lost. Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Is there something on my network that I can try and look at regarding the Pi connection? I have contacted support at SA but they have no idea why its dropping off my network. MdF
