I bought ICC solar monitoring software with a raspberry pi. It worked great to monitor my Synapse 7.2kw inverter as well as my 3 x 50ah Rentech batteries. Unfortunately the raspberry pi packed up and I bought a new pi. When I booted up the new raspberry pi with my ICC SD card it tells me "Not registered no key loaded". There is no support from ICC and their contact no no longer works. The website is still up and running but no support. Any advice or assistance to get this working again will be highly appreciated.

Having issues since the last beta upgrade my install is a sunsynk 8 kw hybrid with 2 X 5,32 sunsynk batteries. RS485 to inverter and RS232 to the master battery. all was well until the 2024-08-27 upgrade, all readings were working on previous version and both batteries detected. symptoms are that only one battery is being reported now and all battery load readings are exactly half, it's as if the second battery is not being seen. what I've done: cycled power on UPS and batteries cycled power on the orange PI checked all connections reported the issue to solar assistant has anyone else picked up a similar issu…

Hello, wondering if anyone can confirm whether the lastest Solar Assistant software release allows viewing of charts of the individual phase voltages and powers for 3 phase Deye etc inverters? Nothing mentioned in the change logs, so not holding my breath.

Hi All, For the last 2 weeks my automation stopped working properly, usually I run my household from Solar during the day and batteries at night, as from about last week the automation doesn’t switch to batteries after the sun goes down….any ideas? I’ve added my logs. any help would be appreciated and has anyone else picked this up. This worked smashingly on the summer months. as a result I’m using more Eskom than before….

Hi, Is anybody else's Solar-Assistant web based site down? I can access my local site via IP but not the URL on my phone, I logged in to the Solar-Assistant site and then clicked on the link and it still says failed? EDIT: Its back up and running might be to do with all this Crowdstrike issues and Microsoft Servers.

Hi, I have a an RCT-AXVM3-5K 48V inverter connected to 2 pylontech US3000C batteries. The inverter is set to only charge using solar power. But for some stupid reason it's still using grid to charge. I only noticed because my power bill went up. The inverter is also set to SUB but have now changed it to SBU with back to grid voltage set to 48V. Why would the inverter all of a sudden just start using grid power to charge even though it should not. I am running solar assistance via USB on a raspberry pi to monitor the inverter. I have recently updated the Solar Assistant to the latest version. I cannot recall that it did this on the previous version. Could th…

Hi People, i have been trying to find out how i can get the data out of my 3 eTowers batteries. Has anyone managed to connect their eTowers directly to the RaspberryPi with Solar Assistant? Solar assistant is vague about whether they have a working RS232 to USB cable for these batteries. I see they have a RS485 cable which they say is not tested for mutliple packs and they even say if Inverter is connected to CAN, the RS484 connection will not work. For more information, ETowers uses Pace BMS

I have a bare bones entry level inverter, a Mecer Axpert 3kva 24V Solar inverter/charger, appropriate solar panels, and 4 x REVOV 100Ah 12.8V LiFePo4 batteries. These batteries have a Bluetooth BMS and their values/settings can be examined via a Home Assistant integration, but cannot be directly seen by the inverter. My system works but has limitations requiring manual intervention. I eventually bought Solar Assistant, and once I worked out how to make the new "automation" configurations visible, it seems I might be able to run the inverter hands off. The "emulate BMS" option gives surprisingly accurate values of SOC when compared to actual battery readin…

Hey Guys, I bought solar assistant this week and just cannot get it to run. I've tried on 3 different pi's, re-downloaded and re-flashed about 10 times. I can connect to the wifi, but I cannot get their page on the wifi setup, and it comes up with another local IP in my dashboard if I plug it into my LAN. I can see the pi if I scan the network while its on LAN, but the IP just times out when I try to connect to it. I assume they put some file on your build to identify the install as yours, am wondering if there was an issue there. I mailed info@ with my issues twice and have not had any response. I also tried calling them but the phone is off. Has anyone el…

Does anyone possibly have any info on when Solar Assistant's support of Luxpower inverters will improve? At the moment it is very limited. I am still learning so I am playing around with settings often and I have to switch to the Luxpower Device monitor software everytime I want to chance anything. It works well for monitoring though. I am on the latest firmware - 2023-08-16.

SOLVED: UPDATE: If you want a clean solution, Solar Assistant now sells a specialised splitter - https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/deye_rj45_split Hello, I am new here so apologies if I am posting in the wrong place. I recently got a Sunsynk 5 kW inverter 5.32kWh battery installed. I have the Sunsynk Data Logger attached to the WiFi/RS232 port. I want to attach Solar Assistant (SA) to my system but the RS485 and CAN port are combined on my inverter and the CAN is currently connected to my battery. So, I need a RJ45 splitter to attach both the BMS cable from the battery and the cable from Solar Assistant. Sounds very straightforward. …

Hi, I'm running a Sol-a-ix-8m 8kw Mecer Inverter with 3 x Hubble AM-2 batteries using Solar Assistant. I've had Solar Assistant connected for a long time now and decided to get into Home Assistant as a side project. My problem is that I have NO idea how to connect Solar Assistant to Home Assistant....... I've followed all the instructions on the Solar Assistant site and NOTHING works! I managed to set up the MQQT broker on Home Assistant so it says its working but when I try to get SA to speak to it, it just won't! Anyone have a simple, easy to explain method I can use? My level is VERY basic! From scratch if possible? Thanks in advance.

Hi, hoping for some help from the Solar Assistant experts. A friend has 5 Growatt inverters as per subject line - about 3 years old. They have no dongles, and so they are not being managed properly. I'm trying to help, by setting up an ESP32-based system (or else Pi-based) to talk via RS232 or RS485 to each inverter and pull stats from them(at least), to monitor and potentially manage the inverters. One fairly large problem I have run into is the inability to change the modbus slave address on 4 out of 5 inverters, since they are all set to 1 by default. I am able to "change" the address by writing to it using modbus over RS232 via the USB-A connector, in s…

Hi, I've got a Sunsynk inverter with the newer combined CAN/RS485 port. Batteries are on CAN and I split the cable from the port per the Solar Assistant instructions. I'm using a cheap USB RS485 adapter like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264814575926 The cabling to the inverter is several meters long and uses a single pair on a piece of cat5 dedicated to the task. CAN comms with the batteries seems fine and the inverter is behaving. RS485 with Solar Assistant basically works - I have continuous logging and the web dashboard updates promptly and correctly. However making changes in the power->work mode settings tab is glitchy. Sometimes I ge…

Hi I have setup the Solar assistant that it must only export when battery is full, but as soon as I turn this on, it starts to export. The other issue with this is it seems to even take away power from the battery charging to try and "reach" the export amount that is set, I have also selected priority load. I thought with this setting that it would first charge the battery to 100 soc and then export excess to the grid. What am I missing to achieve this? Thanks

The charging logic is fantastic. Even with the small passive balancing circuit it has a very smart way of doing it.

There is an option in Solar Assistant for "Generator stop capacity" - but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent setting on Solarman? Does it work? How does it work? Esp in relation to "Work mode timer" / "Time of use"?

Hi there, Every week or so I lose Internet connectivity to my solar system (Orange Pi) System is fine but just internet access goes off. I have a standard router upstairs with a wifi Extender closer to the kitchen pantry downstairs. Reasonable connectivity but extender was required. The router and extender are on the same Wifi Channel 4. No neighbours on similar wifi channels. As soon as I reset the unit (turn off/on) everything is back to normal but is irritating when I'm travelling to monitor my system. Any suggestions Please...

Hi all, I'm seeking to understand how I can control battery state of charge over time within a hybrid setup (battery + Deye/Sunsynk inverter + grid). More specifically, the goal is to control the battery within the system such that it tracks an optimised schedule (see image below), which takes into account certain environmental forecasts. In my mind, there are two ways to theoretically do this: 1) control the power setpoint, and 2) control the minimum battery SOC. My issue with idea 1 is that the battery will need to service a variable load, so controlling the setpoint may bring about some complexities. Idea 2 seems to be the most viable option. …
