January 29, 20233 yr Good day all, I had a Deye 8kw inverter, 3x 4.8kw Dyness batteries and 10x Canadian Solar 545w panels installed 3 months ago. Yesterday the logger stopped working and when I went to check the inverter the screen was blank and no lights switched on, however the inverter is functioning properly, doing its job otherwise. I tried resetting the system by switching the inverter off, switching DC off, pulling the fuse between the batteries and inverter and switching the house over to grid only for an hour for an hour then switching it back on. The inverter screen came on and lights came on and logger lights came on, but only for a few seconds, then went dark again. The inverter still works perfectly otherwise. My installer is MIA and uncontactable after being paid, there is no way to track them down, I've tried. The inverter is definitely still under warranty and I do know who the supplier/importer is (who the installer purchased the inverter from). What would you guys suggest I do? Does Deye pay for the removal, repair and reinstall process if still under warranty? Are there solar professionals who help out individuals in my situation? I'm just a bit lost, so would appreciate any guidance. I'm in Cape Town. Thanks
February 2, 20233 yr Maybe open up a case at police station, or log a complaint with consumer protector. Tracking them through bank maybe if you paid via bank. Name of installer or company? Maybe someone on this forum knows where he lives or maybe someone is dealing with him now? Lots of maybe but you never know.

Hi @AndrewJdc, I've tried the consumer protector, but they have said that without a physical address, they won't be able to do much without the installer's cooperation (which seems ridiculous to me given the function the CP is meant to perform). The company is called Renegade Energy, owner is Juan vd Merwe. Very charming, great salesman, but unfortunately it ends there. Big mistake on my part choosing them, but you live and you learn.
March 11, 20242 yr Hi Glen The same thing happened to my Deye inverter over the weekend, did you manage to sort this out?
March 19, 20242 yr Good morning all I have just experienced your identical problem on my 8Kw Deye Inverter. My system is almost exactly 1 year old today. The data logger just stopped working aand the display just dimmed and eventually died completely. The inverter however is still working properly. This is obviously a design flaw that they must be aware of, What was the final outcome of your problem? Kind regards Claude
March 20, 20242 yr @Glenn, I am an installer in Cape Town, my main supplier has an authorized Deye repair center ( also in Cape Town ), send me a personal message with your details and a picture of the sticker/ serial number on the right side of the inverter, let me see what I can do to help Tariq Tariq Solar installations Pty Ltd 079-289-7355 Edited March 20, 20242 yr by Tariq
April 25, 20242 yr Did anyone get a fix for this issue as yet or does the units need to be taken in for repair?
May 27, 20242 yr Hi all. I too had the same issue and have had back and forth emails with Deye technicians. I think I may have resolved it now as I have now beat my previous record of 36 hours uptime. This is what I did(from my mobile phone) 1.Connect direct to the logger via wifi. Allow connection without Internet access when propmpted 2. Enter 10.10.100.254 username admin password admin 3. Reset the logger 4. Run the Wizard and scan the available networks, select your intended connection network and take note of the channel that your Internet router is using. Click next https://pro-cs.udeskcs.com/ticket_reply/tid30244/wifi data logger configuration_1716443478164_2pwz5z.pdf?Expires=1747979482&OSSAccessKeyId=bPexlr6MCcadDhfu&Signature=lE0c3%2FZ84M75JHVPm3p0C6nm8EI%3D 5. Enter the password to your Internet router and select " Enable" for automatic IP address 6. Click next, then OK on next screen 7. Logger will restart. Connect again to logger and Log in to 10.10.100.254 8. Under "Status">"Remote and server Information" , server A should now say connected. The left green light on your logger should be constantly green. 9. If 8 has worked then log onto your wifi router. Find where to change the Channel as observed in point 4 above. By default the router says Auto but now change to the channel where a working connection was possible. 10. Change IP address obtain to "Disabled" 11. You may need to connect once more to logger directly and then select restart(not reset). Wait a minute or two for connection to be re-establushed. Confirm with green light on logger or step 8 above. All the best!
August 14, 20241 yr Have the same issue, but only with the stick logger lsw-3, bought another one and the new one doesnt power up as well? Assuming its the small board for it. How would i get a replacement board for the wifi module? The board in the inverter? Btw my installer bcg solar not responding to me after 2 mths now
January 25, 20251 yr The logger on my deye inverter also stopped working this month after about a year of use. The inverter is working fine, but I can't connect it to my app. My installer is also MIA.
April 20, 20251 yr Today my panel on the Deye 8kw inverter stopped working. Been waiting a year for my installer to replace/fix mine. Now i jave no idea what the inverter is doing. Installer tried tonput a new wifi module but that didnt work either. Im very disheartened qith Deye products and wouldnt recommend them to anyone. Im vying to gonoff grid but how can i with such an unreliable inverter? Can anyone recommend someone on jhb who fixes these things? Possibly on the spot or with a loaner unit? Or where I can get a replacement panel? Or is it some other issue.Any recommendations on a reliable inverter brand with wifi? And genie support?

April 29, 20251 yr Any idea where we can buy parts for these inverters? Lcd panel and ic board for wifi module? Thinking long term
January 1Jan 1 Hello,as I also just encountered the issue with a complete black screen and no wifi logger, I wanted to share that removing the wifi board from the inverter at least turned the screen back on.There are two youtube videos that show the small wifi board and one even recommends how to fix it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pgZurPpJqI, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j808UvKWDg.At least the screen is now working and I will check if the wifi board can be replaced or fixed, but it seems to me that that small board is a common point of failure. And if anybody has experience with the same issue, I am happy for any advice :)
January 4Jan 4 Hi there,I am experiencing the same problem with a Deye SUN 5K, blank screen (sometimes, after a reboot, the screen turns on for a few seconds and then gradually dims until it turns off completely). At the same time, there is no RS485 communication with my local logger (Raspberry Pi). I do not use the Wi-Fi dongle, but I have also confirmed that it is not working. The inverter itself is operating normally, supplying the loads and exporting excess energy to the grid. However, the battery only charges for a few minutes, which I believe is due to a failure in the inverter-to-BMS communication. All of this makes me suspect a power supply issue.Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

If this regulator is unstable or failing, you will see screen flickering / dimming / dying and or communication chips reset or die and BMS communication fail resulting in no battery charging.Main inverter still runs (because main power stage has separate supply)This is extremely common on units 1–3 years old that see heat cycling. If the inverter are still under warranty log repair, replacement by your installer or supplier. Do not attempt to fix this yourself unless you do have the skills but opening the inverter will void your warrenty. Edited January 4Jan 4 by TaliaB

January 5Jan 5 This is the logger module. Unplug the white multi-pin plug from the board. If the LCD comes to life, the board is US. It is normally the C9 resistor that goes. The replacement board is about R250.00 from Deye service centre. I just replaced a couple.

I was not using the dongle, but I will try to find a replacement to have it operational in case I need it.

HOwever could experince this again as i plan to try and keep this inverter for at least 15 years, that way i feel it pays itslef off and returns some profit.so you just unplugged the little wifi board inside the inverter and everything resotred? sounds like an option.
