Is My System Compliant?

Does anyone know of the Sunsynk 10 kW Hybrid Inverter getting City of Cape Town approval? Any idea when/how long?

I am looking for help in registering a solar installation with Eskom, would appreciate any assistance I can get.

I'm ready to install solar panels and I will either go with my current Luxpower SNA5000 inverter and Hubble AM-2 battery or decide to go with the Sunsynk once I'm satisfied that it is worth the money. The warranty requirement for Sunsynk states that there must be Proof of Qualified Wireman or Electrician installing the unit. How do you guys ensure that your electrician is qualified (what do you ask for) and how do you go about searching for them. I stay in Florida Glen and my internet requests have not been replied by the big companies.

I have a 'Talexis Actaris Taurus' PPM that has started turning on and off as of 3 days ago. It will go on for a few minutes at most and them turn off for an equal amount of time roughly. I've had a grid tied system installed since May 2023 and no issues since then until now. The zero export is set to 50W Symptoms occur during day and night. Sparkys from COCT came out and opened the PPM and declared it faulty and that I needed to get an upgraded one from COCT. Bit annoyed they didn't do the whole job but I guess they're just contractors. Good day all, We have a 5kw solar system with a sunsynk hybrid inverter and 2 batteries. We had another installer out to check the system and he gave us a list of issues with the current installation (despite the fact that we got a CoC from the installer...). I know that SSEG rules in CoCT have changed from 1 October but we applied prior to this so the old rules should apply. Hi I just wanted to ask, if you stay in the Ethekwini municipality zone, do you have to register your solar system like they do in the Western Cape? If you do what are the costs and what are the consequences , do they change your meter or charge you more etc?

There is an organisation set up to help SAn municipalities plan for SSEG installations. They run a web site at https://www.sseg.org.za/. Their technical standards (updated periodically) is at https://www.sseg.org.za/category/technical/technical-standards/. This includes lists of compatible inverters and various technical guidelines - mostly from COCT.

How long after a COC was issues is it valid for? Eskoma accidentally closed my account, apparently operations closed the wrong account. My decision, seeing though i do no use Eskom power is to rather just get a prepaid meter installed, but Eskom requires a COC. I have one that was issued in November 2017, so its about 19 months old. Would i be ale to use i?

A lot has been posted about this but I am confused on one issue: To protect the grid one must not tie an inverter with a maximum output of more than 3.5 KW. But there are inverters on the approved list with far higher outputs - Goodwe is one at 4.6KW. Can someone please clarify?

I'm guessing those outside of Cape Town are getting bored of the SSEG registration process. Perhaps a forum for us would be a good idea. But in the meantime - can anyone give me a start on the tricky questions in the form - hoping that others who have filled it in might give me some pointers: "MAKE AND MODEL OF KEY GENERATING EQUIPMENT" So in my mind it is the panels that do the generation, but my impression is that they are looking for the inverter info. Hi, My Renesola inverter and Pylon batteries are working as a "plug in" UPS setup. I'm just short of a Keto battery interrupter with 80A or 100A fuses - so I didn't finish off the cabling to the batteries yet. (Anyone know where I can get one online or in Cape Town?) Since it is only connected to the house wiring via a plug it doesn't legally require a COC as it is. But I'd like to meet the requirements since I guess its my responsibility that it is safe - pretty sure that's how my insurer will see it. 2 Inverters for system would this be possible No 1 inverter Off Grid with separate DB to supply complete load . Connected to panels . No 2 inverter only charging for bad weather days and supplementing solar charge . Only connected to Eskom DB AC in and battery no AC supply to Eskom DB . No panels connected . Can anyone point me in a direction where I can find the latest Sans 10142 document (wiring of premises - low voltage installations) I tried googling and searching but the only one i can find is on SABS's website for cloose to R900. Bit steep if you just want it to snoop around a bit..... I want to make a few changes but want to make sure it's all done legally before I get someone to do a COC. I've rewired my house in 2011 myself and only got a electrician to check and give me a COC afterward. I saved about R8k then. Hi Guys Quick one: are electricans by default certified to install solar? Who are the governing bodies in sa that lay out the rules for this? Items such as system or component grounding.
