Sorry for being the powerforum rash the last few days. I'm learning, but clearly not fast enough. My question today is grid-tie vs hybrid. From my understanding, both pv modules and batterybank outputs DC. My understanding of the difference between hybrid and grid tie is: Grid-tie: it accepts power from PV and the grid, in most cases it pulls from PV, until such time the PV modules no longer supplies enough power and it then either balances it or pulls from the grid. Good day, thank you for accepting me. i have a goodwe 5048 multi with the serial starting with 9, 20 ja320 poly’s in 2 strings, just installed my first.aircon to deal with the power 😁 problem is 2 days ago the sems portal stopped showing “usage” and now only displays solar production. It is connected to my WiFi and all components are communicating properly, I think😊 if I connect directly EzManage does show all the data. have they changed sems? I was very happy with the older version. thanks Justin

Hi Folks, I am new here and would love to get some expert advice. I have shortlisted two providers for a Solar Grid Tie solution but they both have different equipment that they use but the pricing is very similar. As Coulomb mentioned, we have been working on a set of firmware patches to address the "kettle cut-off" or "premature source switching" problem. He also mentioned that we had a major setback when we bricked an inverter in the process. But as of today, I am testing the first working non-bricking development version (YF1_73.00e). Hoorah! good morning gents, the settings & equipment: for my equipment specs please see signature. attached are the program settings of the axpert. the problem: my axpert switches to grid under certain circumstances when there is still abundant energy at hand in the pylons and from the pvs. notwithstanding program 12 being set at 48v, the axpert switches to grid/utility at 49.5v, i can not set program 12 lower than 48v without compromising the warranty on the batteries. when the pvs produce sufficient to carry a load of 500w and the sun is shining, giving a capacity of at least 2kw and the pylons are 100%soc all goes well. theoretically i should be able…

Good Day Everyone!, Currently im running offgrid with 2x Axpert inverters (10kW), 7,8kW PV and a 7.4kWh litium battery bank from SolarMD. I would like to know if it is possible to close a relay using the inverters when the following conditions are met: The sun is giving power to the panels (it is not an overcast day) The battery is charged (relatively) There is not too much draw on the system (if possible) I would like to start a pump when these conditions are (mostly) met. Can i use Program 38 (Dry contact Signal) to do this and how would i go about it? Would greatly appreciate any feedback. Baie dankie

Gidday, newbie here. Been fully off grid for about 2 months now, and with abundant sun, havent needed to use back up power yet. However, bought myself a good Honda gennie to cope with the cloudy days. Deliberately ran the batts down to 60% to test. The inverter will only accept 150W approx from the gennie. And switches back and forth, 2 seconds accepting charge, 10 second pause, rinse and repeat. Grid voltage showing as 254V dropping briefly to 240V when inverter accepts charge. Tried disconnecting the PV. No change. Played aroung with utilty charging current, 10A up to 40A. No change. BUT.....If I apply a load, (1KW heater), Gennie grunts down…

Hi, I have read elsewhere on the forum that cerain Infinisolar inverters have internal fuses for the PV and battery connections. Where are these fuses located, and can they be easily replaced by a normal person (meaning not an Inverter specialist)?

the cycling loads of the washing machine, tumble drier and iron totally confuses my inverter. It is trying in vain to adjust fast enough to have an optimized PV yield. It is especially slow when it has to change from battery charging to discharging mode. Is this normal? Are the Goodwe inverters worse than the competition? Does the zero export setting contribute to this slow adjustment speed? Why is it difficult to build an inverter able to adjust much faster to changing load conditions?

Recently was asked to look at a faulty Victron multiplus 3Kva 48V inverter. The symptom was that on switching inverter switch on, when unit attempts to start inverter (with or without load attached) unit emits load buzz noise, then only the overload led comes on and there is no output. Problem turned out to be one of the two torroid transformers 220V winding was internally shorted. The torroids consist of a 220V winding and two presumably 48V windings which are simply run in paralell. A colleague has one of those red 3KVA hybrid inverters (Must iteration I suppose) similar to the image but without the Must branding. I do not know if anyone here has had experience with them. The setup of the 24V system: 6x265W Suntech modules 2x 2x 200Ah Vision batteries 3KVA 2400W Inverter He is currently off-grid and typical load 200-300W. During peak he runs a 1HP submersible pump for about 30min max. The system I am putting together is for a (mostly) off-grid campervan and consists of: - Axpert MKS 3KVA 48V Charger/Inverter - ~1kW of 60 cell PV in 2x2 strings - Pylontech US2000B Plus 2.4kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery. When mains 240VAC is connected to the Axpert AC input the system will be earthed via the supply earthing system. Hi, I am designing my PV project for my house and thought to ask for advise of what would be the best inverter for the set up. The array would be 3kw (possible future extension to 5-6Kw) and it will be connected to the Grid with limitations to Zero Export (regulations might change in the future with possibilities for Net metering and best case FIT). Hi. I´ve recently bought a VP 3000-24 whith a 25.5 V 200 Ah lithium battery. Solar panels are 5, 60 cells 265 w,, and the charger is a 50 A PWM. I could see dinamic response is very, very slow. Does anybody know if there is a firmware to change it? PWM is 300 Hz, but the Duty Cicle increases/decreases very slowly. I have taken an interest to understand the Axpert display parameters and what they actually mean. I took the display at about 09:40hrs. Select parameters as follows: Charging Current? (Is this a generation of the MPPT Charger based on the adjustment in proportion to the voltage drop to match battery voltage i.e panel voltage to battery voltage or just the straight panel optimal operating current under NOCT less losses? The lowest panel NOCT Imp is 6.71A giving us 26.84A before losses. Good day all, I've had a really crappy day so far. I went to buy some steel to make a security gate (instructions from SWAMBO). While inside someone broke into my Toyota Hilux and tried to steal it, broke the ignition, but thankfully I have an immobiliser. R1500 later, (call out to remove ignition and steering lock, then replace ignition) I'm back at the steel place to load my steel, get back home and start my project. Then one welding lead breaks clear off right inside the handle, no biggy, I get that fixed and continue to weld. 15 minutes later BOOM, the welder blows and also trips the mains. Hi Guys I’m looking to start my own solar install. I’ve been browsing this forum on and off for the last 3 years (I think) trying to better understand some of the concepts and to think about how I would like to implement a setup for myself.
