First of all, I am new to this community and I am expecting very good knowledge sharing from the experts here. I have recently installed Infini V 5KW system at my house with 325 x 9 ReneSola panels at my roof top. These 9 panels are arranged in 3S3P configuration (3 panels in series and then 3 sets interconnected in parallel). I am using off-grid mode and I am using SolarPower v1.14 SP2 software. Version 1.10 came with inverter but later on I got its latest version from www.mppsolar.com website. The inverter only has SUB and SBU modes defining the priorities. So far I am able to get more energy savings with SBU mode rather than SUB whereas I was planning to …

Hello I'm new here. Please can the Axpert Mks 3kva 24v work with tubular batteries like the luminous lt500 2x 12v 220ah batteries. I have been hearing that they won't charge well. I know there will be problems with equalization but still cant seem to understand why it won't charge at least till float. Thanks

Hi all I have an Imeon now, which can feed back to the grid. Since I had to get extra panels to generate the VDC, I now generate nearly 1.5kW more than ness. How can I detect when there is power feeding back to the Grid to be able to turn a relay/switch on/off? Eg: to turn on a pump to move water from lower tank to high tank...

Hi I am trying to help a forumite with his install and have hit a blank. He has two pf(1) Axpert inverters in parallel and Pylontech batteries. The installers have disappeared into thin air (like Aladin's genie). I have set the following settings according to the SOP published by Pylontech SOP values in bold Program 1 set to SBU Program 2 = 50A (there are two inverters so they share the permissible 100A charging rate) Program 5 = USE Program 11 = AC charging 30A on the one inverter and 20A on the other my thinking was that if one was to charge from grid 2.5kW was a significant load and one would not want to go higher. I think there are s…

Good Day Fellow Sun Seekers I have a question I see there are var to many Knock-Off Brand on our Shores . The same or looks the same inverter is offered by a company for less than 20% that can be purchased from the Suppliers... It look the same on the picture but how do they get away with this.

I just had a chat with a guy from Powerstore.co.za. I told him I need an inverter able to combine solar, battery and grid and not to export to the grid. He told me that a new model of Axpert can do that but he does not have it and maybe he will have it in January next year. Does anybody know what model it is?

Hi All I need to pick the brains of all the clever guys out there. I have been asked this question this morning and would like to know what you guys opinion is out there. 2 Hybrid inverters connected in parallel with a battery bank connected and 30kw panels 1 Hybrid inverter with 15kw panels and it's own battery set in a separate house about 600 meters away from the first building. Both buildings are connected to the same Eskom connection point and both are feeding back into the grid. Is there any danger in doing a connection like this ?? I have my own opinion, but would like to know how the guys feel out there !

Dear Forumites I have grid power at my house, but would like to go solar anyway, in order to become as independent as possible, and have cleaner (read more stable) power. I don’t want to disconnect from the grid completely, not yet. At first I'm going for a minimal system, and will later fill up the holes in my calculations and naivety. I need advice please, as will become apparent, my electrical knowledge, never good to start with, is now rusty to boot. I’m designing for 4.2kWh during daylight hours, 3.3kWh during the night and no autonomy beyond a single night. These are worst-case measurements over two weeks, not an average. I’ve settled on the following equipm…

I just had a Victron Quattro installed with Eskom power on AC2-In and a small generator on AC1-In. The generator is limited to 10A. Is it possible to disconnect AC2-Out when the generator is connected to my inverter? I know it disconnects when there is No AC input on either input but I don't want to kill the generator if a heavy load suddenly comes on while Eskom power is out and the generator is running. Any ideas?

Greetings all. I'm very new to the topic of inverters, solar and backup power systems for homes. I'm also not very technically minded. I recently had a system installed which consists of 2 x Mecer 5kva inverters, a solar panel array and batteries, with the latter having a very small capacity (worked out to about 6hrs standby only). It is currently running in SBU mode, and we're experiencing the following challenges: 1. When switching from solar to battery in the evening, its almost as if the system is doubting whether to switch over permanently or not. E.g. as the sun is setting, we switch on the oven. The oven's load results in load exceeding what…

Hi, My Infini 3KW + is connected to my PC using the USB interface for data logging and monitoring. However, the USB gets disconnected randomly. When this happens, I have to exit Solar Power Software and then re-start it. But sometimes, even this does not work and I need to re-start the PC. But sometimes even restarting the PC does not work. The USB cable needs to be physically removed and then re-connected to get it to start working again. In windows device manager USB ports, I get a yellow caution triangle with one of the USB connected devices. Physically removing the USB cable and reconnecting it makes the triangle go away and everything works. Sometimes it can go on …

I am encountering a strange issue with my Infini 3KW plus inverter. Whenever grid goes down, AC output drops to around 8% load. So if load was 50% when grid was available, when grid goes down, only about 8-10% load keeps running despite the fact that enough PV is available and batteries are also close to 100% charged. Some appliances are turning off while others remain on. Some lights, ceiling fans keep working but bigger loads like refrigerator switch off. As soon as grid comes back online, all the loads that were disconnected are now re-powered through PV. Inverter is running in Grid Tie with backup mode II. Load supply source (PV available) is 1st PV, 2…

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I came across an ad in gumtree claiming a new model, is this true and what is the differences...? And how would you know what to look for to compare? Are there model versions? Hi All, If the Axpert inverters are set to SBU (setting 1) and OSO (setting 16) and the Inverters switch over to utility during the evening because of setting 12 and a high load. If the load drops and If you force the utility to not be available it jumps back to battery. If you enable utility again it goes back to utility, should it not stay on battery because the voltage is above setting 12 or is it because the batteries have not been charged back to the voltage in setting 13? Thanks, Shaun

I am in the final stages of designing a system but cannot decide on Inverter. I thought the Infinisolar 3K Plus was the one for me at R15,000, but now I am having doubts as to the quality and only 1-2 year warranty. I have found the Replus-5048 for R41,000, it has 2 MPPTs, 50 amp charger and 5 Year warranty. Basically a Rebranded Goodwe 5048D-ES 5kW Hybrid Inverter. - http://www.thepowerstore.co.za/pIH-R5048ME/Replus-5KW-48V-Hybrid-Inverter.aspx Does anyone have experience with the Replus-5048? I like that it is fanless, but at the same time I can buy 3 infinisolar's for the same money. I really like that the Infini has a pass though power feature if…

Hello Everyone, I have installed infini 3kw plus, i try to testing with input 119V voltage from solar and connected to battery NS 190Ah, 48V, no connected into grid but LCD display show me solar panel image flashing everytime and cannot charge the battery, regarding the manual of Infini, voltage input from solar panel minimum 360V and MPP voltage ranging from 250V-450V. My Question is, 1. why the Solar panel image on LC is flashing everytyme and not to be charge the battery 2. is voltage input from solar follow the MPP voltage ranging or the start up voltage/initial feeding voltage (ranging from 116v-150V) to charge the battery …

On most inverters it seems that a 5kva is equal to a 4KW. I've seen this on Aperts, Victrons etc. I have now found an Axpert and and MLT inverter where it says the 4KW is equal to 4 KVA (see attached). I understand it has to do with power factor? Can someone please explain how this works in layman's terms?

Good morning guys, We have an Axpert 5Kva Inverter, connected to 12 x 270Watt panels, connected in 4 x 3 panel strings and with 16 x 200Ah batteries connected as 4 x 4 banks of batteries. The system was opperating without any problems for about 5 weeks until the batteries were used without full daily recharge by pv. Since then we cant seem to get batteries fully charged and the system wil stop charging the batteries halfway through the day even with alot of daylight left. It only stop charging the batteries but still supply the load untill sun down. Need some advice on settings please.

Hi, I recently installed 12 Jinko panels of 320watt each along with Infini 3KW plus inverter. I have two strings with 6 panels connected in series. And both strings are connected in parallel for a max VOC of 278V. The short circuit current of each string is 9.05A Infini's MPPT charge controller is rated at 18amp. So if I were to combine two strings with a short circuit current of 9.05 each, the total current would go up to 18.1A. My question is.... Is it ok to combine two strings like this for a total current of 18.1A? From what I understand, current is pulled by the Inverter and it could never exceed 18amps since that is the max that the MPPT charge contro…

Hi, Not sure if this has been asked before, but are there any inverters that can be programmed to only charge batteries off of AC power, during specific times of the day? I've got some outside lights I want to put on batteries + inverter, where the inverter should only charge the batteries during the day (as the house will eventually be converted to solar). -G-

hi, my axpert, with v73.00c firmware, indicates pv usage as in image. is that a reflection of present pv production or overall under-utilization? if present usage then it reflects approximately the right amount, if overall then there must be a setting in error.

Hi, I'm running a Motomaster 1000w pure sin wave inverter on a solar system, and it's working great.. I decided to install a shower system using a flojet 03526144 pump (7.8a @ 12v under 30psi) and when I turn it on, it "trips" the inverter (shuts off, I can turn it off and on and it works again). Is my inverter just not robust enough to handle the pump? Thank you.
