I am currently working on putting together my first electric skateboard battery using a 6S6P configuration with 18650 Li-Ion Batteries. I was wondering if the configuration in the picture would be suitable. In the diagram the 1300mAh are 25A and the 2200mAh are 5A so I have a high discharge 1300mAh with the added capacity of the 2200mAh.

Hello community, My name is Felix and I live in Egypt. I'm new in this forum and I would like to ask you guys for your opinion. I'm running an off-grid pv system on my kitesurfing boat. Installation in April 2018. It was performing quite well for a few months, then after 5-6 months I noticed that my batteries slowly started decreasing it's capactity and finally after 9 months my batteries only provide less than 20% of their expected capacity! My setup: 48V system 16 x 275W TrinaSolar panels 12 x 12V, 150ah/C20 Newmax Deep Cycle Gel batteries - SG1500H 2 x Axpert MKS 5kva (parallel) ... ICC 2.3.0 on Pi3 for monitoring My daily average loa…

Hi All, I'm a NOOB on this forum, but have had a Solar installation for several years, and hope some of the knowledgeable people here can assist me with some questions regarding a battery upgrade project. As a bit of background, I have 2 Axpert 5KVA Inverters, each with 12 Canadian Solar 270W panels, currently hooked up to a battery array of 8 strings of 4 100Ah Lead Acid batteries (i.e. 32 batteries total). During the first few years of my installation, I had endless problems causing the Inverters to die every few months with major corrosion problems; the area I'm in (KZN coast) has very high humidity. I then decided to "steal" one meter from the back of t…

Your expert opinion is required. I currently have 4 x 100Ah batteries on a Axpert 5kva/4kw system - I want to increase my standby times by doubling up on the batteries but want to know if it would be better to go for 1X3.5kw Lithium battery. The system is mainly for load shedding use. Normal current draw from the house is around 500/600w. 4 x solar panels @330W are used during daylight times.

Hello again guys! I once again come in search of your wisdom Ok so 2 things that I have noticed that just don't seem right: 1: The ESS setup shows the battery goes into Bulk and Absorption, but never into float. 2: The Absorption voltage that is reported also seems low? The highest voltage the MPPT has thrown to it seems to be 52.3V and it hovers around 52.0-52.2 during the day. I did setup the I attached a image of remote console showing the behavior. Here is the charger settings : Here is my ESS System setup settings as well: And here is the Networked operation settings on the MPPT:…

I have a Batrium BMS connected to a Multiplus via CAN-bus in my setup. When the inverter discharges (inverting mode) the battery direction is in the positive direction on the remote console and in the negative direction on the Watchmon. To my understanding, both should be negative during discharging. Please advice.

Hi Guys, I'm planning with the sizing of my Li ion battery packs, and need to know how to limit the voltage of the cells to about 4.0V per cell, instead of 4.2V and also perhaps the discharged limit to about 3.1V - 3.0V. I plan on building a 4S 40P Li ion cell pack, to give around 1kwh pack, and part of the issue, is to control the upper and lower limits. Your recommendations would be highly appreciated. Regards

Am wondering, @plonkster, Victron MPPT's can, I quote: "In case there is no external source for battery temperature; charger uses its internal temperature for battery temperature compensation. The temperature reading is taken in the morning; when the charger has been idle for at least one hour, i.e. when the charger is not actively charging a battery or supplying a load." So I put the controller and batts together to be in the same ambient temperature. But, I need to make a change ... again. (facepalm) If I want to move the MPPT away from the batts, having a battery temp sensor on the Multigrid and on the VenusGX, does the MPPT use either of those temp sensors t…

I have inherited the care of a battery bank, lets call it 12 strings of 4 x 12V 100Ah sealed, (it's actually 11 now, but that's by the by). It used to be a 24V system to the battery cabling is over-rated, but its paid for and I want to use or re-use to solve my problem. The batteries are mounted on 3 shelves above one another, 16 batteries /shelf. So there are 4 strings of 4 batteries each per shelf. Each battery string is cabled back with 25mm2 Cu back to busbars (on the left of each shelf, so effectively the busbars are about 1.5m in length down the height of all shelves on the left). Re-positioning the above hardware ( batteries or busbars) i…

After 3.5 years my Trojans are on their way out. I have 8 x 150Ah 12V T1275s, which cost me about R20k for the lot, they've lasted about 40 months, so R500 per month is not bad. I am off grid and usually they were kept at about 60-70% SOC, but sometimes they worked like Trojans . Now they are starting to sukkel to hold charge overnight, and are bubbling and leaking and generally making a mess, so it is time for them to go. So the question is, which Lithium batteries to get? Is there any real difference apart from price with the various brands? (Pylontech, BYD, Freedom Won, etc) Also, as I understand it you can add more batteries as required, so If I bought…

Hello All. My first post. What are the considerations I should keep in mind if I'd like to create one phase of my 3-phase munic supplied DB as a "back-up" phase, let's say it's the blue phase. My idea is to get my DB re-configured such that all critical loads are placed on the blue phase, while all non-essential and large loads e.g. geyser, stove, etc stay on the white and red phases. I know the trick is to for the electrician to balance the loads as best as possible. If I then get a single-phase battery inverter/charger installed with the inverter's AC-out connected onto the blue/back-up phase, and the inverter's AC-in coming from the white phase, will I effec…

Hi, Has this been posted before? : a very lengthy article about charging LiFePO4 batteries. https://marinehowto.com/lifepo4-batteries-on-boats/ Argues for: No floating of batteries Long term "storage" only half charged or so. Or cycle the battery. But don't let it sit there at or near 100% SOC Don't push the cells into the "knee" trying to get the voltage of the cell up much above 3.3v. It stresses the cell and hardly pushes any more energy in. Now I realise that the Pylons have integrated BMS but all the reading is interesting. What do the experts make of it?

This is my first post on this forum. I am impressed by the overall content of the forum generally. I have asked this same question on our local solar forum but did not get a reply so I will try here as I see that the Victron BMV702 gets quite a few mentions. My basic setup is : Schneider XW8548+ inverter. Schneider 80/600 charge cont. x 2 Sonnenschein 2RPG1410 batteries x24. My question....what is the "tail current" mentioned in the Victron manual? I see from other posts that the default is 4% but some say that should be reduced to say 2.8%. Mine was 10% (not sure how it got to that) and I reset it yesterday to 4%. I can't really see that it …

Hi, I've hooked up my pair of US2000B batteries to my inverter. I made the parameter settings as per a document from Pylon about Voltronic inverters. Ended up like so: My inverter ran at 25A charging for quite a while, the battery voltage gradually came up. It has now switched to 0.5A charging - my one battery has all the SOC green LEDs on, on the second battery the top SOC LED is blinking so I assume its a bit behind and is still taking some charge. Is this cool? These batteries cost some serious RRR so don't want to take a chance. I presume that the second battery will eventually decide its cha…

Good day. I would like to test your opinion on the float charge setting on the 5kva Axpert inverter. I am off grid and Cycle use my batteries. I have 3 strings of 12 v CSB batteries HRL12500W adding up to 48V. The cycle use of the batteries require 14.4to 15V per battery charging. Do I set the float charge voltage setting on the Inverter the same as the bulk charge voltage? Mine is set on 58V. Regards

Hi All Recently there was some mention of BYD's selling for under 50k for 10kw. I was busy with a quote on them for 2 clients and while looking and phoning around for their spec sheets, I stumbled across something interesting. I will not mention names as I am not going to be part of some court cases ext. But I cant let this pass without warning the forum members. BYD China, has some 3rd grade batteries "Refurbished" that is meant for the China Market only . It has a 6 months warranty and are rated for 300 Cycles. This warranty is only valid in China, and BYD "South Africa" wont have anything to do with these batterys. Containers full made it to Sout…

Battery advice needed from Powerforum experts please! Issue: As end users on an upmarket retirement estate, we have multiple inverter systems (up to 30) – all with very similar battery related problems. The batteries are all Dixon 12V 105ST lead acid, 2 used in series with an Axpert clone 24V 3kw inverter. During grid outages a typical load of TV, decoder, wifi and a few LED lights is typically 120W or 10A (230V), and the batteries should power this load for more than 8 hours. What is actually happening is that the batteries will only power the load for typically 1 hour, and then the inverter shuts down at a battery voltage of 21V. The batteries …

Hi, im considering a US3000B. the spec says voltage between 44.5V and 53.5V, with a maximum DOD of 80% But a document on Infinisolar setup says lower voltage cutoff of 48V I’m not sure how many cells are in there, and where to find the discharge curve for the 3000B? Thanks, Steve

Just a word of warning if you going to use Trojan batteries make sure that you buy from an authorised dealer who will honour your warranty. Short and sweet.
