  1. Started by T Tshikane,

Good day everyone. I need help with a battery issue I have been experiencing in recent weeks. The battery is losing charge at an unusual rate. For example, this morning the SOC was on 46% at 3:59 am and at 4:09 am it was down to 1%, despite the demand was below 10%. The battery is 3 years old. It was happened last year Feb and they took it but the problem resurfaced in recent weeks. Any advice or insight into what causes this sudden drop in performance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help. Tshegofatso

  2. I have a Revov R100 battery and and added another R100 about a year ago. I connected their 2 BMSs together and have my Sunsynk communicate with them via a CAN bus. I had a Revov tech on the line to confirm everything was good and they advised me to change a dip switch for the batteries to communicate with each other, but no more. Earlier this year during a prolonged power failure my SOC ran down to 40% and then my system went offline. As a result, my tropical fish died because it was cold and their heater failed, but that's besides the point. When I contacted Revov again, they got a sharp guy to troubleshoot and turns out my first battery had BMS code for a Victron invert…

I'm upgrading from lead acid to lithium, as a result I'll have 8 rather large lead acid batteries to dispose of. Does anyone know of scrap dealers, or the like, in KZN who pay for old batteries? I've seen talk previously of a price per kg.

  4. Good day i want to find out what is the best battery that works and communicates with the Sunsynk inverters. What is also a good reliable battery to use with that inverter. Regards Carel

  5. There are 4 of the same model battery (SHOTO 5.12kWh) attached in parallel all connected to a Kodak inverter. It is programmed for battery only from 16h00 through to 08h00 the next morning By 14h00 the following day, all 4 batteries reach 100% Right now it is 09h30 and the batteries display different state of charge. The charge rate is also different. Strangely enough, battery 3 is the newest, 9 months old Is there a reason for this, and can I do anything about it?

  6. I have a Deye SUN-5K-SG01LP1 and a few Pylontech US3000C batteries, I have connected them using CAN and set up the inverter battery mode to Lithium, and Lithium mode to 00. However I see no comms between the intverter and batteries. The "Li-BMS" portion in the "Batt" window show all default values. Do I need a special cable - if needed I can make one.

  7. Started by BobTheDinosaur,

I have a bunch of Hubble AM2s and only learned 2 years after purchase that they are a different chemistry from the norm. Had I known at the time I would have gotten the AM5s. After reading about the differences I'm now somewhat paranoid about a battery fire. Has anyone seen an AM2 fail catastrophically? Apparently they have an internal fire suppression system, would like to see what effect that has on the fire. Any other experiences with other brands of batteries going up in flames?

  8. Thinking about getting Dyness, Huawei or GoodWe HV (200-400VDC) batteries, mainly because our system is installed near living area and 48V inverter makes a lot of noise. My understanding is that all 48V inverters will make such noise because of heat generated from inefficiencies. That's why I'm looking into HV Inverter & batteries. Price not being an issue, my only concern is the safety factor with respect to HVDC batteries. Assuming battery is properly grounded, is there is a chance of battery chassis/cabinet still becoming energised and hurting someone? OR would grounding ensure that the battery's built-in fail-safe mechanism kicks in and it shuts off/blows interna…

Has anyone used this company? Auto - Recondition 668 Battery 12V 80 Ah with OLD Battery. Plus R150 without OLD Battery. I need a battery for a vehicle that is not in everyday use, so don't want to spend a fortune. Was wondering if this is too good to be true. I am in Knysna and they will courier for R220 including return of the old battery. I don't want to transfer the cash only to find out it's a scam. Also, they say a 6 month warranty, but am concerned that it might pack up in 6 months and 1 day. Even if it packs up during warranty, courier costs make it unpractical. Any thoughts?

  10. Hello, Does anyone know of the Nenergy 48100 battery? I am trying to find a manual or at the very least the dip switch settings for the batteries BMS (either to talk to themselves or the inverter). Hope someone can help.

Hi all, I have 2x 16s 5.1kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery packs that use Seplos v2.0 BMS to my understanding. The system was disconnected for a few months during renovations, and reinstalled 4 months ago. Both battery packs were discharged quite low while stored, so they were individually charged back up to 100% SoC before being reconnected in parallel to the inverter. Recently I started noticing that the battery packs are NOT tracking each other's SoC %, but rather just Voltage - which leads me to believe the parallel connection is not setup correctly. After both being charged up to 100% and discharged during the day, I notice a ~10% difference in SoC: Top is the master batter…

  13. Hi, strange error on my solar set up. Supply from panels keeps dropping and one of batteries keeps disconnecting. Deye 5kw inverter 2 x Shoto 5.12 kw batteries Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in advance.

  14. Are there places in Cape Town who can check batteries for dud cells and replace them? Have 4 batteries (SHOTO 5.1kWh) and battery 2 never reaches 100% SOC

Anyone know if it’s possible to download the history data from watchpower mobile app to excel

  16. Hi, I understand that some Sunsynk's 10.65 kwh are BYD and some are CATL and they are not cross compatible. Is there any physical way of telling them apart?

  19. Started by JacquesVDM,

I have two US3000's. The one had a heavily swollen cell which I managed to remove by cutting it out with a side cutter as I could not get it out with just soldering it out. Now on the other US3000 there are some cells which overvoltage when charging before it reaches full charge. There is one cell in each of the three packs inside the battery which are problematic. I tried swopping the packs between the two batteries. The only option left is to try and remove (de-solder) the problematic cells and swap with ones that are in a better state until I have a working US3000. At least know which ones need to be removed, as it can easily be identified with Batteryview. The swollen…

  20. Good afternoon, the time has come for me to upgrade my current battery, I would like to get recommendations what would be the best bang for buck at the moment, meaning best combo for value and reliability. I don't really want to put any sort of limitation on size, number of batteries etc, but would say my zone is around 10-15kw size. Please let me know what combo and brand seems to be on top of the list at the moment. Thanks

  21. Finally finished upgrading my 1st Narada 15 cell battery to full 16 cell with JK Inverter BMS... So far so good :) BMS now fully controlling the inverter. Performance already outshines all previous data. Now to get the second one done and get them working nicely in parallel :) Second upgrade kit ready to go

Inverter - Kodak OG-7.2 Off-grid Batteries - 4 x Pylontek US3000C The main board on the inverter blew and was recently replaced. Apparently the battery settings are back to "default". When setting the battery type on program 5 to PYL (Pylontek), error code 61 is displayed, which means there is no communication between the BMS and Inverter. What should the dipswitch settings on the batteries be (4 batteries connected parallel)? If I switch to battery type USE (User defined) what should the ideal battery settings be as per programs: Program 02 - Maximum charging current Program 11 - Maximum utility charging current (we are totally off-grid) Program 12 - Voltage point back t…

Hi I just received new firmware from Pylontech for the US3000C. New version is 1.9. I used BatteryView 3.0.23 to upgrade my battery. See attached PDF. us_c_v1.9_Crc.bin Pylontech Low Voltage Battery Mornitoring and Maintenance Tool Guidance.pdf

  24. Hi, How do I start the BMS up again after it has reached the 48V low voltage cutoff? The inverter cut off was set too low, and the BMS switched of at 48V. Now, when I turn the BMS off, and back on, the start up sequence occurs, and then ALARM LED comes on to show the low voltage condition, but the BMS does not switch on to allow the inverter to charge it again. Should I just use the receded RESET pin on the front panel of the BMS to reset the unit? https://revov.co.za/2ndlife/revov-2nd-life-r9-lithium-iron-battery/

  25. Hi all, My Luxpower SNA5000 inverter is working well, but I noticed that with good PV input voltage, the batteries are also feeding into the utility. During load shedding times, it sometimes runs out of power. I need the best settings for the battery to charge by PV and stay on standby until load shedding hours. Please assist me with some settings. I will be thankful.
