Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Started by KAROOsolar,

Good day. Hope someone can give me advise, I've got a Axpert 5KVA inverter, with a 5.1Kwh Li-Ion Battery. The inverter runs 100% for about 6 days and then the solar side just stop charging, it show the PV sign but it does not give PV power. I just switch the inverter off and open my PV fuses and switch the inverter on again, then it runs again for about 6 days and then the problem is back. Any advise? Can it be a fault in the inverter?

Hi guys I need some assistance with the axpert settings for the Pylontech batteries. I have 2 x 5KVA inverters and 2 x Pylontech batteries. Batteries are a single feed to both inverters The challenge that I am facing is that both inverters show the battery voltage as 28% (50.5V - program 27??) I have the settings as follows: Program 2 = 50A Program 5 = USE Program 12 = 48V Program 13 = 51V Program 26 = 53.2V Program 27 = 50.5V Program 29 = 47.5V Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks

Sorry guys I'm new to solar power. I purchased 2 x 5 kva inverters. Can someone please tell me how to connect them in parallel to the grid. I want solar panels priority then batteries then grid. I have 3 phase Please help Taking baby steps

  7. Hi all. I apologise in advance for what may seem a number convoluted questions! Please note, we are totally off grid. We have been on our land for 3 years, built a hangar and installed a Goodwe 5048EM inverter, 12 x 275w panels and 4 x PylonTech US2000 Plus batteries (4 x 2.4kW - 50ah in parallel). This was on a temporary frame, all worked well but the inverter was insufficient for our eventual needs, or rather, I made the blunder being a newbie, that it was a 5kW system, it does take up to 6kW+ of panels via 2 MPPTs but only outputs a maximum of 2.7kW, would't even start our vacuum cleaner!. 6 months or so ago I bought and installed a 5kW VMIII inverter and another …

  8. Multi II 48/5000 + 3 x 3.5kwh Pylontechs on UPS only system Due to the pylontech sleepmode ESS was activated - that started to throw a Relay error 11 alarm & what is suggested is to 1st start with switch to latest firmware, It was on 469, upgraded to 474 Now i'm getting thrown high voltage alarms - i've checked my values & think they are still all the same as previous. The new alarm This is a 30 day chart where previous there was no peaks in the graph like in the yellow area that i now have had for the last 2 days since doing the FW update. Inverter settings are as below …

Just installed a 8kw Sunsynk (brilliant inverter) and set the correct time on the display but if "Sync time" is checked it keeps on changing the time to UCT+3:00. On my SolarmanPro app (plant info plant profile edit) the time zone of inverter is set to UCT+2:00 but on the lower corner (on PC) the time is still shown as UCT+3:00. See pics attached. Can someone tell me where to change the time zone pls? Don't know if it is a Sunsynk or Solarman issue.

Hi all. Hope you well. I have 3 mecer 5kva invertors with 8 x pylontech bateries with solar panels. My problem comes when I feed my system with generator power that the invertors doesn't want to use the generator supply but runs on solar and battery. On display you can see and even with tester I measure 220V. It sometimes switch over to generator supply for few seconds then back to solar. Any suggestions. Also sometimes 2 invertors trip on fault 80. Connected to ICC software for monitoring.

I have a PV Solar system with 1.2MW Capacity connected with Grid & Genset at a same time. Total running load is 2.5MW. Solar provide 700~900KW, 900KW is on Diesel Genset & remaining load is provided from National Grid. All the sources are running in parallel. Issue is that when ever the Grid supply fail the solar goes to 0KW although Diesel Genset is remains in system. How can i avoid solar to go to zero load. although if I restart the solar with Diesel Genset running only it provide maximum available load.

  13. I see there is a big price and size difference between this inverter: https://voltronicpower.com/en-US/Product/Detail/InfiniSolar-2KW-5KW And these "V" range inverters where the V2 is the high voltage MPPT: https://voltronicpower.com/en-US/Product/Detail/InfiniSolar-V-II-1.5KW-2KW-3KW-5KW https://voltronicpower.com/en-US/Product/Detail/InfiniSolar-V-1K-5K Does anyone know the difference between the two ranges?

There are a few mysterious references to a timer function on the King. Cant find it in any settings. The thing is essentially a double conversion online UPS, taking grid power, conveting to DC then back to AC to feed the load with nice clean power. It would be great to set a timer to put it into eco mode at night to get around the inefficiency of the double conversion system. During the day it's fine as it blends solar power into the load. Anybody know if this is possible or would one need external gadget with ICC? Rob

  15. Hello, I am running an Infinisolar E 5.5 KW for about three months. Setup: - 8 PV-panels with 2,8KWp total in one string (next year I plan to double the modules) - grid tied in parallel mode with backup battery - DIY LiIon battery out of 18650 cells with total of 48V and 7,5KWh So the mainfunction are working, most of the time. But I discovered a few misfunctions / bad conditions so far 1. the fans are spinning all the time, even at night when there is no sun-energy to convert and just about 250 watts of IDLE energy for the house. Shouldn't they shut down when there is no power-request? Or can I modify the fanspeed / temperat…

I have a Kodak OG5.48 inverter connected to one Pylontech 48v battery as backup system - use for load shedding. Approximately every 15 minutes the inverter fan goes on for 15 minutes and I assume charging of the battery takes place. However, the battery is fully charged and there is no fault or alarm or warning indication. Is there perhaps an inverter setting incorrect or is the operation correct?

Hi guys, I have a client that insisted on working with deep cycle batteries instead of lithium. I installed a 5kW King and solar panels on his roof. We installed the 4x 102Ah deep cycles and connected them up to the inverter. In order to monitor the installation remotely, I installed the ICC hardware as well. So, once installed, we ran a test, and performed a shutdown in the evening (no solar). The batteries lasted 1h15min with an average of 500w load. Now, my calculations show that 48v @ 102Ah would give you roughly 4900w of usable power. Lets assume the inverter caps that low end of the batteries at 50%, then we should still get 2450w …

Good Day, I have installed an Axpert 5kva inverter with 4x100ah gel batteries with a changeover switch, fuses for the batteries and a 2 breaker for the supply to the inverter at a customer. I got a call from the customer saying the inverter was smoking and this was when there was still normal utility power coming into the customer house. There wasn't a surge from utility either. The supplier has turned around and said it's a 'sudden oveload' and it has burnt the overload protection on the into and is now not will to replace it even though it is still under warranty. My question is, If there was a 'sudden oveload' then why did the inverter not alarm for a couple…

Has anyone here come across a 3-phase grid-tied inverter that can supply unequal loads? For example at a particular point in time a site has the following loads: 3.3kW on Phase 1 4.3kW on Phase 2 2.3kW on Phase 3 Assuming a 10kW inverter, a standard inverter would inject 3.3kW per phase. i.e. in the case of exporting Phase 1 would be catered for Phase 2 would only supply 3.3kW and 1kW would come from AC Phase 3 would be catered for and 1kW would be exported to grid. In the case where exporting is limited, then typically all phases would be limited to 1kW (as I understand it). Are there any that would split the pow…

Hi, New here so if I missed this somewhere already mention elsewhere in the forum please forgive me for asking again. Thanks to this forum I have learnt a lot in 3 weeks and still got lots to learn. I have managed to get to a point with the help of few individuals on this forum my home assistant to connect and display data from the Axpert inverter 48v MKIII. But what I have noticed after some adjustments that the battery capacity of 7700Wh is being surpassed if I calculate the volts * net amps to the battery from the inverter. How is this possible? Or am I not understanding the science right. The inverter keeps push amps to the bat…

  22. Question- There's a question to which I've been looking for an answer but I haven't found a clear one yet so I hope this forum will help. How is the load shared between a grid-tie inverter and the grid? I understand that the inverter feeds the loads with all the available solar power and imports the remaining balance from the grid if needed or exports the excess if any. I would like to understand the technical details behind this process (how does the inverter have feeding priority over the grid?) because so far I haven't found a clear explanation online. Objective to ask this question -In the above line, many experts will not understand the question, so I am just e…

Thank you to the very helpful forum, one more question please, I intend to do some DIY during the week, involving welding, grinding and so forth, normal power tools. I do not like the inverter to continuously switch between solar and grid, parameter 23 is set on enable bypass, what I would like to know, can I soft set parameter 2 to utility first or is it better to set inverter AC DB physically to Grid on? I would prefer parameter 2 but only if it will not affect the inverter negatively. Bypass due to swimming pool pump running as well as ironing at the same time

  24. Hi guys. I am new in the solar industry and I have a question. Is it possible to power 2 x 1hp boreholes using a 5kva inverter? Or I should consider using two solar pumps. I was considering using 5kva inverter because I would also want to power my two bedroom house.

Good Day, I would like to get some information regarding the Kodak King start-up after the Low battery voltage has been reach. The inverter is connected to the grid and PV array with two 3.5 Kw Pylontech batteries. In this scenario the mains failed and the inverter took over in battery mode until the low cut off was reached(this was at night so no pv) , the inverter batteries switched off as expected. The next morning the mains came back and PV was available but the inverter stayed off until it was manually resettled. Is the anything that can be changed to do an auto start-up when one of the supplies comes back ? Thanks Charl…
