Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Axpert 5kw Hybrid and Kodak 3.6Kw grid tie can it be AC Coupled ? Good day, I have the above systems thatbi have installed myself, each with 4.2kwp pv installed but operating separately. Is it possible to run these two systems together in a AC coupled system ?

I need help with a phocos any grid. To set nr 28 you have to switch inverter off then change it to pal. It then switches off but when i restart it,it goes back to S1. The book also does not say how to connect the current sharing cables on 2 inverters.

  3. Hi Everyone, Great forum, thanks for all the brilliant content! I think I have an issue with my KODAK Inverter VMIII 3kW 24V (OG 3.24) - it does not seem to charge to the bulk/absorb voltage (28.8V) - it stops at the float voltage (27.6V). I don't have solar panels, just the inverter with input from Eskom (when it's there) and using the batteries during load shedding for lights, fridge and a few other occasional items. I have four CSB HRL12390W 12V batteries connected in two parallel strings of 24V. Pics attached. The batteries are brand new. My understanding is that when Eskom power returns after load shedding the inverter should charge th…

Hi I am in the final stage of my install, I have an Axpert 5kva with 2 pylontech us3000. I now want to do the ac input to the inverter, do I take the ac from before the earth leakage or after the earth leakage ie: eskom to main switch to circuit breaker to inverter or eskom to main switch to earth leakage to cicuit breaker to inverter? Pics of installation will follow soon . Thank you

Hi My Victron Qautro feeds back to the grid. This causes my prepaid meter to trip all the time I have disabled feed-back in the ESS setup and have set the grid limit to 150 watt which defeats the whole purpose of having a system as it still consumes Eskom power. Even at a 150 watt it still feeds back every now and then. Is there a way to overcome this? Thanks

  6. Hi, wonder if you can help. I have an Axpert 5KW 48V inverter with with 9 x 270W PV connected in an array of 3strings with 3 panels in each string. I measured each string, got 107V with 7~8A per string. But measuring the leads connected to the inverter there is 107V. But the Amps reading on the inverter is intermittent, jumping from 0A to 6A. Can you shed some light on this. Not sure what other tests I can do. It almost looks like there might be a problem with the Inverter PV controller. Pleas advise.

Hi all Maybe this question is answered somewhere already. Apologies if I ask this again. Is there any way to set up the inverter so that it uses battery power to supplement AC loads during the evening without using a Rasberry Pi? Ideally it should use solar firs priority during the day and use stored energy in the battery to power AC loads during the eving? Almost like a Victron ESS system. Your inputs will be of great help. Thank you

Hi, can you pls explain how the Axpert works with solar panels connected, I would like to know if the panels always charge the battery and the inverter will convert the power in the battery to AC and if the batteries are full do you covert power from the panels or do the system always convert from the batteries. Hope it makes sense. Thanks

  13. Hi All, Why would the inverter disconnect from PV when the battery is full. I want to use sun power during the day, and only battery during the night. Is it the BMS from the Pylontech doing this. Thanks

Hi quick question can i use 2x 5KW hybrid inverters from 2 different companies and still connect and run them in parallel, The one is a "Mecer 5kw hybrid inverter" and the other one is a "Easy Power 5kw hybrid inverter" (Not the king inverters) they both look exactly the same,

Hi all, I've been running an Infinisolar 3kW Plus (Mecer branded), 4 x 250Ah Gel/AGM batteries, 2 arrays of 8 x 260W panels and a separate DB for the load circuit for almost 5 years now. A little over a year ago I added ICC (Inverter Control Center) to better monitor the inverter. The batteries seem a little tired now and I was hoping to upgrade to Lithium late this year or early next year, however my inverter seems to have issues again. In July 2019 the inverter tripped my main DB (utility fed DB) and as long as the inverter was connected to the utility feed the earth leakage would trip. I took the inverter in to Mustek and they stated that the inverter's "main …

Hi, you all. i have installed the axpert a few times but man am i struggling with getting the batteries charged. OK so the system is 2x 4kw axperts connected to 1500ah 2v Traction cells (used) the main array is split between the 2 inverters at about 50 amps each charging current. then i have a separate array on a microcare 60amp mppt. on the standard settings i can only equalize to 58,4v, but on the microcare i go to 62v odd... i like the higher voltage as i do get beteer sg readings. but now the inverters keep tripping on an error code 03. is there any way around this? will the firmware upgrade help?kind regards.

Ok, now wtf can be causing this. I have 2 x MksII connected parallel. One inverterfails with 05 error. When I remove the input to the inverter it shows the same input vac as the output. Wires removed directly on the inverter input. If I use it as a single inverter it works perfectly. They were both bought together and serial numbers follow. Both running same firmware version.

Hello All. I need help and advice please. I recently had a solar installation done at my house. It consists of 2x 5000tl hvm Growatt inverters, 12 x Canadian solar 330w panels and 1 x shoto SDA10 - 48100LA lithium ion battery. My question is that I have 1 data logger installed on the machine that says HS on it. The other machine says SL on it. Now the problem is that the solar charge changes from machine daily. I.E today then solar power will be running through HS and yesterday through SL. The other problem is that the battery data also differs on the machines, i.e SL shows battery fully charged, but HS shows battery 25%. Why would the system switch data …

  21. Hi Gents, Been tinkering on-off for a long time, but I finally managed to get a Victron ESS system up and running on my domestic system over the weekend. In principal, my ESS setup consists of the following: Victron Quattro, 5000VA Fronius 3.5 Primo grid tie inverter (on inverter output) 48V-825AH Battery bank BMV 700 Beaglebone Black (Venus GX) managing the whole lot I used to run the setup with a SMA SB4000 in a hub 2 configuration. Performance with this was slightly lacklustre, as the Multi/Quattro spends most of its time not connected to the grid to perform the frequency shift on the SMA. I hence decided to embark on the ESS route..…

  22. My context. I live in the Overberg, my wife and two teenaged kids (almost ready to leave the nest) both work from home. I have an almost religious belief that how much and way we use energy is not un-related to living a meaningful life, sensitive to our fellow travelers on a planet with limited resources. ?? I grew up in a house where post world war values of frugal use were applauded (switch of lights not used, boil as much as you use) our first solar heating system was installed more than 30 years ago!! The System characteristics and requirements · I have an average use of 12 kwh/day. 80% of my consumption is during the day (A. the off…

I've been running my Kodak VMiii for 5 months, and it's behaved perfectly except for one problem, which honestly appears to be a firmware glitch. Wondering if anyone else has the same problem? My settings for 23 is definitely bYE which should mean that if there is an overload while on SBU, it should bypass to grid. The problem I have is that under specific conditions it doesn't bypass and rather just shuts down completely... rather irritating... The manual splits the overload protection into three bands: up to 105% rating is fine, 10 seconds at 105-130% and 5s at >130%. On my system it won't bypass if below 105% (functioning correctly), will bypass if >130% but…

  24. Good day all. Please assist. Have 2 x 5Kw Axpert Inverters connected in Parallel, 7 x 2.4kw Pylontech batterybank and 16 x 355W (2 strings) and ICC running on a Raspberry Pi3B. For no obvious reason the system now just shuts down at least once a week. Seems to happen when batteries are almost full. No sign of high load or anything that we can trace. After the "shutdown" the inverters disconnects from the Load and all power has to be re-cycled to get system powered on again. Fault 80 pops up afterwards. Could Fault 80 cause the system to shut down? System installed in Jan/Feb 2020 and had no other issues. Has anyone come across something like this and how can we…

  25. I finally managed to install all my hardware as detailed below, although the warning decals are still missing Just a few questions 1. Since I am using the utility earth, I assume I do a soft bond between earth/neutral on inverter 2. As per above, do I connect the surge protector to an earth stake or do to the common earth 3. same as 2 for PV panels Finally, as per another post I am still looking for a suitable BMS and management software - although watchpower gives basics, not that impressed Still need to do some plastering Need to be attached to ground
