Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Hi all, I have been searching this forum and found a lot of posts around the Infinisolar V but nothing much on Infinisolar VII. Here's what I have found: King I found the king can communicate directly with the battery to get SOC. It is noisy and has a lower max solar of 4000kw and has a low voltage mppt requiring 2 panel series strings to be connected in parallel. It does mix power and it properly isolates using AC to DC. http://www.sustainable.co.za/media/pdf/kodak/kodak_king_datasheet.pdf Infinisolar VII Has a higher max solar of 5000kw and a high volatage mppt requiring at least 3 panels per series string up to a max of 9. I…

  2. Hi All, My first post here! I have an Axpert VMIII 5kW inverter, 2 x 3.5kW Pylontech (US3000) batteries and 3kW of panels to charge them. My setup is just a few months old and has been working fine up till now, but yesterday I noticed the solar charging just stalled at around 18A. After a bit of investigating I found the issue was the Max Charging Current had reset to 20A, I used the app to change it back to 50A, a few seconds later and it's reset back to 20A Finally a power cycle fixed it and I got it back to 50A, but I woke up this morning and it's reset itself back to 20A again and I had to power it on and off again to get it back up. Additional informa…

Hi everyone. I just got a 1 kw pannel set on the roof. I already had a 5kva inverter and 4 100ah bat's running 48v system. It worked fine with load shedding. I added the solar to see if I can ease some cost of the daily account. Thus far it cought me out with the first load shedding. Although I must say it was raining for 2 days without sun. It is set for solar first to power loads. I was hoping for a setting like solar then utility then battery but can't find it. I want to save the bat's for loadshedding as much as possible. Any help? Any ideas?

I've two arrays connected to the inverter facing east and north (just discovered and innovated a wall mount for the north wall, can only accomodate 6 panels). The arrays are in strings which have 2x series (VOC close to upto 76 range recommended in manual and Vmp about 61still within range). From the attached ICC screen capture the voltage curve seems to be acceptable especially that I monitored early morning. Temperature is comfortable despite the onset of the dry season with day time temp peaking around 30 degrees. Infact as the day progresses the PV voltage flatlines around 68V. What seems odd though is the current which was all over the place. Is this normal? …

Hi All, I have an Axpert 5kva, 6x330W panels and 1xUS3000 pylontec as a backup system. I had a generator switch over installed when the system was put in for when the utility is out for extended periods and overcast weather. I had to use this yesterday for the first time, and now have some questions about the Axpert settings and if i need to change anything when i run the generator. As far as i understand when i switch over to the generator the Apxert thinks this is utility and continues as normal. This worked fine and my battery charged to about 80% before the utility light started flashing and charger circuit light when off and the battery obviously stopped …

I wonder if there is any nice document around somewhere, that describes the Axpert's thinking process. For example, I got home yesterday and the Axpert was in bypass mode. My batteries (8 x Narada) were at 51.3V, and according to the BMV712 they were at 94% SOC. The last full charge was about 14 minutes before, according to the BMW. Now, it might be that the BMV recognised a full charge, but the Axpert did not (running 73.00b). Anyway, I wondered why the Axpert was on bypass. In my mind there's only 2 reasons: 1. Overload condition. 2. Batteries reached the "back to grid" level. In my case I know its not #2, and I'm not aware of any heavy load prior …

We have a Smile 5 Alpha ESS inverter CONNECTed to the Grid with storage , It mode of Operation is It work as Grid-tied and when the Grid is not available it work as UPS and when Grid returns it switches off UPS Mode and then back to grid-tied,. So we have a new problem/or scenario that we don't understand. We had Load-shedding (Muncipality interuption) for 2hrs for which the Inverter was working as UPS and as soon as the grid came back after 2hrs it tripped immediately and then again the Grid tried to comeback it tripped again(All of this is happening at the Utility Grid side, which affects us,). After this inverter didn't carry on working at UPS Mode as it was suppo…

  10. Hi, I have an Axpert 5 KVA inverter and I just want to know at what temperature does the cooling fan starts to run. Is it controlled by temperature sensor or by the amount of current being sense. I just want to make sure the unit is working properly. Because before there was a problem on the unit, once you switch on the inverter the cooling fan will work for a few seconds then stop immediately and the error code 02 will appear on the display meaning over temperature. Sent it the workshop after a few days sent back to me telling me the unit is repaired and working fine. So just to make sure I tested the unit connected a load 65 watts elec…

My solar system has been working fine for almost a year, then suddenly when repeated power outages occurred for 30 days in a row every morning from 1;30am to 6;30am my batteries started running flat.I have two sets of 4 x 200a/h batteries in parallel. Drawing about 500watts from the inverter during this period .Eventually I sat there and watched the charging cycle as it happened and noticed time and again the bulk charge cycle jumps straight to float cycle,as soon as it reaches 56,4v setpoint. Then it just idles there until the next power outage. It does not go into saturation. I tried everything, changed setting no.2 from 50 to 30 to 40 to 60 and it made no difference.Even…

VE Bus cables connected from the first quattro-2nd quattro ,3rd quattro the into the CCGX, I have set same values (charge current, float, absorption etc for each quattro). the errors i am getting on the CCGX #3, #10,#17 can someone give me light to solve this? This is my first 3phase victron installation.

While busy with the process of registering for solar generation in CoCT, I was told that my inverter cannot simply combine neutral and earth when Eskom goes down. According to the provided example diagram (I understand it comes from something called an NRS document), it was explained that I need a double pole (I only have single phase) change over switch and an earth pole connected to my inverter, so that when the inverter binds neutral and earth, the inverter itself is grounded. At the moment, my MP II does bind neutral and earth, so I do not have a floating neutral, but apparently I have a floating earth in the form of the inverter's enclosure? Any a…

  16. This problem is killing me. I really hope there is a solution. When my battery gets low, the inverter and the battery shuts down. Now the problem is that it does not charge while it is shut down. So while I am not at my farm house and battery runs low on a cloudy day, the entire system shuts down, charging stops and nothing works till I can switch the system on again. Anyone with ideas how I can bypass this? Surely there must be a setting for it to keep charging at the very least?

Hi everybody, I have a system which is about three months old, 2x Kodak king UPS inverters, with PV and a 20kWh Pylontech battery back up. System was working fine until friday past. Customers eskom has been down since Thursday, now the system keeps giving hassles. The master inverter shows battery full, whilst the slave keeps giving a battery low error. What must I look for regarding faults, batteries are all still balanced and fully operational, but system literally keeps switching its self on and off. Would an ICC(inverter control center) sort this issue, or is that, as far as I understand, simply for online monitoring? Thanks

PLEASE ASSIST! We have 5kva synerji inverter and 2 x 2.4 us2000 pylontech batteries. What does warning E9 message mean? Can someone please explain this? After sunset batteries go to 2 lights and utility will maintain that up until the morning. Tonight however it seems that E9 warning is on the inverter display and utility is taking the battery right up to full. Why the sudden change in how the system works? Thanks.

Morning, My Victron Multiplus was sent to Current Automation for repair a few years ago (for the very same reason as far as I can remember) and since it has come back it has this overload problem. At first it would happen very occasionally - it would run for weeks, months and then happen. But recently it has been happening more often and now it will not start at all. Any ideas what is the fault? All the outputs have been disconnected. No load battery voltage is 55V according to the Outback charger. Regards Paul 20200702_154834.mkv

Good day. I have a 5kva inverter that I installed and currently have one averge battery installed on it I have 3 410w solar panels currently installed and about to install another 3 once they arrive . I have a few issues I am looking for answers on I know i should have gone for 30w panels instead of 410w . I want to maximise my solar array and have the max into the inverter which can handle 4000w. Can I have 4 strings of the 3 410w panels . The other issue is sometimes the jnverter doesnt charge the battery up automatically once it starts depleting have to turn everything off hen back on. Please assist with some advice

My AXPERT 1000VA/24V works perfectly. I have replaced the Trojan T-105s with new AKKUTECH LiFePO4 batteries (2 in parallel). I set the bulk setting (program 26) to highest possible value = 29.2V (instead of 32V). It charges well on PV and "utility" (Heishkom) but at about 27.5V it switches to "absorption" (program 27) and charge current drops to almost nothing. This means in theory that I will never be able to reach max. capacity of 2 x 100Ah. Why does that happen? Shouldn't it keep charging until close to or equal 29.2V? What should I set program 27 to? Thanks.

My question is on these units is it cost effective to have it repaired, if so what price range are we looking at. I do get several of these in every now and then, if you are or know of a reliable repair company plse inbox me. Thx
