Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Hi All, Thank you in advance for you assistance. Has anyone experienced an issue whereby an Axpert 5KVA/5KW Inverter does not connect to WatchPower and no data is received. Just to clarify, I am able to get connected to another Axpert 5KVA/5KW Inverter with the same laptop and cable without any issues.

  2. Hi all, I could do with a technical response for my question please. The moment the inverter is connected in parallel with the grid, it does synchronize with the grid for load purposes. Then it is an Embedded generator. Is this statement correct? I cant seem to find a suitable response to say if it does or doesn't. If anyone has a line diagram and description it would be very welcome. Rgds Tony

Hi All, I have a 5kva Axpert and a Pylontec 3000 & 1kw panles. It is very overcast so my panels are not charging the battery well. It charges quickly on a sunny day via the panels and also quickly after dark by Utility (max charge Prog 11 was set at 30A see below), but when there is limited solar and utility charging is very slow. I wanted to know if the Maximum Charging Current (Programme 02) could be affecting this as I see it is Solar + Utility. This is currently set at 30A. I believe that 37A is max charge current for Pylontec and Max Charge (prog 02) is set at 30, so could it be that if my panels are producing little current (1A …

Morning If utility voltage is supposed to be 230v, at what voltage will the inverter switch to batteries? My Axpert 5kva, 4 x 260ah batteries, often goes click, click and I hear the fan starting up, but, by the time I get to the DB it has stopped I just happened now, when I was closeby and the utility was on 198v, fan going, jumped to 218v and click, click, fan goes off Tried to Google a couple of phrases but found nothing Thanks William

i have what i think is an axpert "clone", its called Iconica 2KVA its been installed for over a year and had some minor issues, mainly due to condensation around the fan area (its too noisy to keep inside!) recently it has been shutting down the output and giving error 02 which seems to be temperature related, and i narrowed this down to only happening when I charge from Utililty, the worst thing is that it totally kills the output and goes off, protecting itself i guess, this happens within about 2 minutes of the charge starting, I am suspecting that the issue may be a faulty NTC or some resistors around the NTC, I have looked at the service manual for the 5KV…

Hi guys I have a goodwe 5048D-ES installed with 10 off canadian 400W solar panels on 1 string of the inverter and 4 x 2.4kw pylontech batteries I initially have just been running it in ups mode because of the load shedding we had last year The recommended setting did'nt work as the batteries were used up first for the load and then load shedding would kick in and the batteries were flat Now i am playing around with the economical mode to see if i can't get a better use of the batteries This won't work if we go back to load shedding next year I want to connect 4 or 5 more 410 watt panels on the other string as since the covid outbreak i am usi…

  9. Hi All I have an older Axpert which I would like to parallel with a newer Axpert. Both are the same model (SOL-I-AX-5M) however the newer one has a rated power of 5000VA/5000W and a rated current of 80A, while the older one has a rated power of 5000VA/4000W and a rated current of 60A. I suspect the firmware levels are different as well. Is there an issue introducing the older one as a parallel inverter? Regards

Hi Anybody heard of or using this make of microinverter, are they any good? Would you use microinverters or rather buy an Axpert inverter if they were around the same price?

Can anyone please explain why my voltronic King inverter will not use solar power to power the load but drains the battery during full sun? It starts up in the morning charging the battery from the sun and supplies the load from the sun but, as soon as the battery is charged, disconnects the solar panels and drains the battery! I have set item 1 to Solar and item 16 to Solar for load first but to no avail. Help

  12. Hi all, Could anyone please confirm whether an Axpert MKS (or other derivative) is a non- bidirectional inverter. If so, how does one prove this. I have attached a drawing supplied by our local municipality as to the allowable spec for an off grid inverter install with a PV array. Any assistance guidance on how to confirm this in writing would be extremely welcome. Rgds Tony

Hi Does any one know what the recommended settings are for pylontech (5x2.4kwh) batteries working with 2 x 10kw infini 3 phase inverters?

  14. I have a JSM inverter charger, which is actually a very old school inverter given the way that technology is advancing, and there is one particular way in which it doesn't really work for me. Being off grid, when it is cloudy or rainy I use a generator, and what the JSM does is put the entire house load on the generator, as well as the battery charging load. I can control the charging current, but that's about it. What doesn't work so well is if a high load appliance is put on for a period (kettle for instance) then the battery charging, normal load and the kettle is too much for the generator and it slows under load and the inverter disconnects it eventually and sw…

  15. i have gone over old posts, but still not clear. 1) Are the non-essential loads supplied by a blend of solar and grid and the rest of solar pv ( if available ) goes to charge the battery 2) when grid is not available, are the essential loads supplied by pv AND battery or JUST battery or am i completely wrong

Hey guys, Is it possible to run two independant inverters from the same battery bank? The situation is there is an existing Goodwe 4.6kw inverter installed but client wants additional circuits added to the backup (circuits which would overload the backup output), is it possible to now add an additional inverter (perhaps like an Axpert?) to the battery bank to supply these additional loads? So basically the DB board would be split in to 3 (on grid loads, backup loads on Goodwe and backup loads on the additional inverter). Now, the additional inverter will have nothing to do with the PV or charging of batteries it will exist purely to supply the additional l…

  18. Hi All I trust that you are all well. I have the following questions regarding the cable thickness and lugs size supported by the Axpert King 5Kva unit, the book is not clear in this regard. A] What is the maximum size of cable supported by the AC In connector block? B] What is the maximum size of cable supported by the AC Out connector block? C] According to the book the battery connections are made by lugs but they do not specify how thick the bolt is that is used to hold the lug in place, so I want to know how thick is the bolt that holds the lugs in place? D] What is the maximum size of cable supported by the Solar In connector block? …

Good evening everyone, So I replaced my faulty Axpert inverter with a Goodwe ES5048 today. As per your advise I just did a plug and play, with the Axpert connections. I just have 1 question. With my Axpert installation, we split the neutral bar in the Main DB between the back-up loads and the On Grid loads. Do I keep that the same with the Goodwe or can I connect them again so that I only have 1 neutral in the house for both Back-up and Grid loads? Thank you,

  21. Hi all, Excuse my ignorance if this question has been asked and answered before but I am interested in how the term "off grid" is determined. Our local municipal guidelines state that 3.10 Off Grid System Stand alone generators (not connected to the municipal electrical grid in any way) do not need permission from the electrical department to install. If my understanding of the Axpert model inverter/UPS is that when it is supplying AC to your DB it isolates itself completely from any incoming mains AC supply. To go further than that. If it is installed without any AC connection at all then it is not physically able to connect to the AC mains. Th…

Hi We have a Goodwe ES 4.6kW hybrid inverter which has been (and is still) working perfectly for 3 years. I’m looking to make some changes to the set-up but have a few questions. I don’t work in the industry myself but am very curious how these things work, so please assume a very basic level of understanding. Of course I’ll get a professional to make any changes. Currently we have two 1.8kW panel arrays, one facing north east and one north west, linked in parallel and feeding PV1 on the inverter. I want to increase the one array to 2.4 kW while maintaining the size of the other array (in short, I only have space to add panels to the one, not the other). N…

  24. Hi all I replace my inverter a while back and connected to the RS232 to USB port. Everything was working fine. It then just stopped working. I noticed at that time my windows had updated. I am a programmer and wrote my own windows service to monitor and store data. It was working well. I tested my USB to RS232 using a loop back plug and it is fine. The software just will not connect anymore. Please has anybody else had this issue or can point me in the correct direction or even a way to test the inverter to make sure its not faulty. I don't believe it is. TIA
