Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Started by Peter Merle,

I´m running a off grid system with 3 Pylontech batteries and an Axpert 5kW since now about 4 years. In very rare cases I´d need a generator to avoid that the batteries are running empty. The generator I own is a inverter type with 2kW stable output. I tried to connect the generator to the system with battery charging power set to 20A, but it shut down, when I connected the batteries. Is there any trick how to start the system?

Hello from France, I allow myself to post this message because many users of hybrid inverters here in France have a problem with their inverter. it's inverters are from the PIP-GE series from mpp solar, but I think they are voltronic power they are hight voltage mppt input all the settings are done correctly, but the mppt algorithm does not seem to work properly. As soon as the panels are no longer in bright sunshine, as soon as the weather is slightly gray, the mppt input drops to 120V DC, and there is no more production. the power sent to the battery or charge is 0 watts. At the same time, with the same configuration of solar panels, an old model P…

  4. Hi All, So i have a VM3000 3Kv Inverter. Sometimes, just as the loadshedding kicks in, my PC turns off (suddenly). My other PC, on the same circuit is fine. This happens more often than not, It has stayed on normally sometimes. Any ideas? I then tried to plug in a spare UPS, in-lie, to see maybe if i could use the UPS to clean the power, but the UPS was making very loud humming noises and almost vibrating. So i've disconnected it for now. Any other ideas on how to clean the power or what the issue could be?

Why in most of hyprid inverters like Axpert or MPPsolar maximum input pv current isn't shown in inverter label , does it mean no matter how it would be ? For ex. In 5kW hyprid inverter of 5KW solar panels can be installed of 2 strings in order to avoid reaching max.Voc . So I was wondering not to exceed the max. mppt input current , which is not mentioned in datasheet also . edit* image is just an example.

Hi All, Trying to understand why my inverter just drops PV at times. Constant load in blue, with green being PV. The drop in PV production was cloud rolling in, which from guessing and reading on the forum, could be a voltage spike and MPPT tripping. However, looking at the voltage it doesn't seem to have gone over the max: Inverter main firmware: 71.97 Any thoughts on what this could be? My gut is telling me it's a wiring issue. Thanks Grant

I notice the settings on @HubbleLithium website for the Sunsynk inverter is 53.6 Volt for float, absorb and eq On the battery spec sticker is float 52,6 volt and Eq voltage 53.6 volt. Which is correct or if you connect inverter and battery via CAN does the BMS override the inverter settings?

  11. Hi there. Seeing as the forum members here are experts of many inverters, I have a question/request: I recently purchased a MUST PH1800 3k 24v inverter/charger (with grid-feed capability). Before I purchased the MUST, I was convinced that this is a Voltronic inverter, just rebranded. The user manuals and spec of Axpert models and the MUST are very similar. Thats why I also thought that it would have the "Menu 38" setting, in order to control the dry-contact relay, but it doesn't. The dry-contact can only be used to control a generator. After reading many threads here and on other forums (and the fact that it doesn't work with Voltronic software) I…

Hi Other than needing the same firmware, are there any other requirements to parallel two 5kW Sunsynk inverters? The price difference between the 5 kW and 8 kW inverter is significant, and I'm trying to determine if I can get away with buying one 5kw inverter now (mainly as backup power for loadshedding) and then, if needed, later on add a 2nd 5 kW inverter. Is there a risk that say for example 2 years down the line the "new" 5 kW inverter is not compatible with the "older" 5 kW inverter, making it impossible to upgrade? Any other disadvantages of have 2x 5 kW inverters vs a 8 kW?

What should the Inverter output voltage be set at ? 230 V OR 240 V My Kodak is set to 230 V, but when it switch over from battery to ESCOM it will step up to the same as incoming ESCOM, +/- 240 V. Which is best and why ?

I have a Growatt Spf 5000 ES 4x 580w solar panels a d 4x 200ah agm batteries. With level 6 six load shedding at night the inverter will shut down when low dc cutoff is reached. My question is : Is there a way that the inverter can start up again once the ac comes on again? I now have to manually switch it ?

Dear Experts! I have a 48v Pylontec US3000C Clone running with a Must PV18-5048-VHM Inverter and 12 panels a 230W in sunny Spain! First it seems I need at least 2 of these batteries to not exceed the current limits. But do these pylontec communicate the SOC level or other important parameters with my Must Inverter or should I use an other battery or another 'Inverter? us3000c-installation-manual-v10-20cqsv0801-ger-inu.pdf

  17. Good morning. I installed our 3kVA via a sub-DB to our main DB. We don't have solar panels. Everything works perfect ... but Yesterday I started planning to add a manual changeover in the line feeding mains to the sub-db. While we had load shedding, I disconnected the wires from the main-db to the mains incoming to the sub-db. The moment I removed them the inverter switched off. Why? (I have about 15 years of wiring AMF panels to generators but this one is beating me.) This is what I have done: I connected a Live & Neutral directly from the MAIN isolator's outgoing (bottom). The Live wire goes to a circuit breaker (top) and outgoing to the …

Hi All, This morning when I walked into the garage I got a plastic smell from the inverter. Amazingly it was still running and powering load at the time. Anyway, this evening I opened it up and found a fried box-shaped component in a slot marked C13 on the silk screen. It also has two pins so presumably it's some large Cap? I desoldered it to get a look, but unfortunately the only lettering still visible is .....AC. Does anyone have an idea what this is and more specifically what the values are? Regards, Danie

  19. Axpert Inverter and 24V 100Ah battery settings I have an Axpert 2400W/3000kVA solar hybrid inverter, connected to the local power utility company, a back up generator, and two 12V 100Ah deep cycle solar gel batteries. The system is wired directly into my distribution board, and there is a separate surge arrestor for the inverter connected circuits and the non-inverter circuits. It’s a small system designed to power only the lights, WiFi router, computer equipment and TV, and works very well for my requirements. There are no solar panels connected to the system (yet). My question is regarding the batteries: According to the manufacturers instructio…

  21. I have noticed that there are only PV and LOAD daily energy logs which I can extract from my Kodak . Disappointing , because one would like to have battery charge and discharge energy as well in order to compare apples with apples , and to ultimately infer imported grid energy. So I devised my own energy integration class , and calculated running PV , Load , Battery Charge and Battery discharge integrals of power against time. My own PV and Load results compared favorably with the Axpert logs , so my algorithm at least is sound. But my battery log results are hogwash . Indicative , but not accurate enough for my needs . So it appears that while the Battery volt…

Hello everyone, I have searched high and low for a solution to my problem but I cannot seem to find any real solution. I have a Kodak OG Plus 5.48 inverter, 9 solar panels and a Pylontech US3000 5kw battery. The inverter switches off randomly all the time (especially when the grid is off during loadshedding). The inverter never has a high load, it doesn't heat up or crank up in any way. It just switches off and never comes back on until I press the button on the battery. The most common error message is F56, which is apparently a problem with voltage. As I said, it's very random - sometimes there is 3 days without any issues, other days it switches off every 3mi…

  23. After loadshedding, my Sunsynk 16kw inverter draws dangerous levels of power from the grid to recharge the batteries - around 5kw, add that to the geysers starting up and it causes my mains breaker to trip frequently. Is there a way to limit the amount of grid based recharge KW to use? I do not want to limit my solar based recharge KW. The "Power Limit" Column under the System Mode menu simply does not work. At 2000Watt it gets ignored and my batteries charge at 5000Watt regardless what I enter there. Is this a bug? Many thanks

Good afternoon colleagues. Can plse someone with knowledge, assist in clarifying the difference between the traditional UPS (such as those supplied by Eaton, Siemens, Schneider) vs normal Hybrid or PV inverter such as Sunsynk, Victron, etc. I have a server that I am busy with replacing the old UPS system (non-pv), which I have to make a decision to install hybrid inverters as the client has requested it to be solar connected. The load is not much, about 20-kW. Can someone send at least detailed text or references or examples. I have looked all over online I am not getting the best results. Thank you in advance.

Any Must Inverter owners that can advise if a Must pvm 1800 inverter has a BMS port? There is a RS485 comm port but I think it is dual inverters as this port is not communicating with Hubble Cloudlink. Thx.
