Yesterday charged battery to 100%, connected BMV702 to the setup as per BMV install guide. Adjusted BMV settings as per manual and my setup, sync'd SOC at 100% and also Zero'd current. I have ESS active and discharge last night went according to plan, BMV stats looked appropriate for my usage . However, this morning when charge kicked in, things did not go as expected. I have ESS scheduled charge setup, start at 06:00 with Stop on SOC of 5%, this to avoid charging from Grid. With the BMV connected, it's like it is ignoring ESS and the MPPT and system is charging from Grid only? BMV measurements only reflect the Grid charge current and not Solar. Solar was…

HI All, So, Before is start testing and arranging cells, I have a question. I have the possibility of getting a lot of these cells: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32951551702.html The one in the link is the 10a. The ones i can get is 20a, 2x10A spotweld with a positive and negative (black and red) cable. (no BMS) The specs are as followed: 20a, 0.2c charge/discharge, 3.7v Some of them is very new, others not so new, hence the testing and sorting. I can get about 300 of these cells. more or less... So the plan is, if all goes good, and the cells are working, to have a 7s40p (40P for if some cells is bad) setup. Each cell wi…

  3. Hi All My neighbour has a Victron/Bluenova offgrid setup, which has been installed for a few years at his house. He's a Dutch resident, so only here occasionally. The system is set up so that the battery controls the charging cycle. As there is very little consumption, the battery cycles daily between 90 and 100% In the past the charge voltage has risen to 56.2 (max voltage set by battery) in the morning, and then immediately dropped to 55.5. There is a corresponding spike in the battery temp when the voltage gets to 56, and then it drops to ambient as the voltage drops to 55.5. Battery current is 0A at this stage. Speaking to a BN tech, the cell boards wi…

In anticipation of my current batteries eventually losing capacity I have set money aside so that I can replace in 8 or 9 years time. But who knows how the prices will go? I could spend that money now. Then I know I have the batteries. But what's the shelf life? If I buy LiFe batteries now and just store them will they be as good as new a few years on? Also I'm wary of the prices I see now. Might it turn out that that price is for the BATTERIES and excludes cables, BMS etc? Plus stupid old me would have to install them. I'd go for a brand like PylonTech because my Goodwe already knows how to deal with those, but is it a matter of just hooking them up and…

Hi. Hope you all well. I've just removed 3 x mecer 5kw invertors and replaced them with 2 x 8kw Deye invertors. I want the invertors to work from solar and batteries if solar not enought. But it still draw power from the grid even if battery show 100%. Any help with which setting needs to set to what so it can work like this. 8 x Pylon US3000, 18 x 365W panels to each invertor. In battery settings : Lithium Mode - 00 In manual it states that this is BMS protocol. Please reference the document (Approved Battery) Can't find this document Any help please.

Hi, Sorry if this has been posted before, I was just not able to find anything, and after a few minutes of searching, I decided to post the question. Is the any regulations on where you can store to batteries for a off grid installation, For instance, I have 2 pylontech 3500B batteries with a 5kva inverter. Would I be able to install this inside a house, say under a staircase? or would it have to be installed in a garage or in a Containment room? Besides the noise of the inverter fans, would this be safe to do. Thank you in advance

I've recently replaced my 12v 200AH gel batteries with pylontechs One was bad but the other 3 are still serviceable. I gave one to a family member to run a TV in loadshedding but still have 2 good ones that I'm loathe to just hand in for their scrap value. I don't have any use for them that I can think of. Any suggestions?

  10. Hi All Have a DIY LifePo4 bank with a Daly BMS - no comms, connected to Multiplus II with ESS. Would love to add a 2nd bank. Is this doable without comms or does one have to have BMS with comms for multiple strings? Thank you

  11. Started by PlanB,

Good Morning, Have been lurking around and reading , but this is one of my first posts. Please be kind/patient. I bought a Back Plate solution form a Co in Kaya Sands (it has a Victron Multiplus II 5KvA Inverter, a Victron MPPT and a BlueNova 52V- 77Ah-4k Battery. I also have 8 x 410w Art Solar panels. I am really happy with the Victron and Solar panels, but am unsure how to feel about the battery. I'm hoping someone can tell me how to tell if the battery is performing as one would expect from such an expensive battery. I have set the ESS to Optimized( with Battery life) and set the Minimum SOC (unless grid fails) to 75%. During the day when the PV ar…

Hi All, 2xPylontech US3000 I have a ton of battery questions that I first need to research, but right now the biggest panic is heat. ICC says that my batteries are running around 37deg at the moment, with a big AF fan on the side, surely this is not great. Usually its ambient +3.. but ambient today is hotter then mamma in the 3rd grade... How bad is it, when do I turn the batteries off.. 40?

I have a malfunction during loading of batteries. As I am not sure what is the cause I like to ask users if they have similar experience. I have a grid-tied system intended as back-up system including excess solar feed in into grid. Some particulars:Solar panels 2,4 kwPSmartsolar MPPT 150-100Multigrid II 48/3000/35/32 230VColorControl GX4x12V-136Ah lead acid batteries (third party). ESS is applicable with mode "keep batteries charged" and "feed-in exces solarcharger power". Also absorption voltage and float voltage according manufacturer's specs. During the night we had a grid-failure. After return of the grid system started reloading batteries. First in bulk s…

Does anyone have the charging specs for Ecco BA120 batteries? I need to set them up on a Victron Multiplus. Many thanks, Davy

  15. Started by Cuzz,

Hi Powerforumn community, I have recently bought 2 pylontech us3000 batteries, I see that when they were installed, the installer connected the comms cable to link port 0 on both of the batteries. When i read the manual and on the forumn, it appears the people connect link port1 to link port 0. Does it make a difference? Thank you

Morning all. Need some help please, It doesn't seem that my 100AH Led Crystals charge fully. (Utility) Another thing is that the charging indicator on LCD display shows just over 3/4 and on my laptop 50% I do have 4 packs 48V Led Crystal Batteries. Last night I saw that it was still charging and voltage on my Volt/Amp Meter 56.7 V and this after an hour. Laptop 93V. Are the settings wrong ? 26: 56.4V; 27: 54V; 02: 40 Amp; 11: 60 Amp. Thanks

  19. Started by Dname,

Hi all, So i purchased a new 5kva battery from a local supplier and have a question which I can't seem to find an answer to... supplier says 54.4v is full charge, however research shows 58-58.4 as full. Running the latest watchpower software for the Kodak branded axpert shows 54.4 at 72%. When the inverter bulk charged to 58 inverter showed 100%, then back to 72 for the 54.4. I'm getting about 4.5 hours off this battery which seems supremely low. My old bank of 6x12v 105ah battery used to run for considerably longer, this bank cost me half the price of this 24000 new one. If anyone can assist I would be grateful, currently feels like I've been s…

Good day, I have 12 x 3,2V 60A (192w/h) Lithium batteries which I connected in 3 blocks of 4 each to give me 12V for my camping fridge. At this stage, I cannot afford state of the art dc-dc dual battery system. I guess I cannot push 100A direct from alternator with a manual switch? Can I solar charge with a decent charge controller only or is MPPT advised? Thanks for any input regarding....

Which combination to use with 48 V , 200 AH Lifepo4 cells ( keep in mind battery was less than 3000 Euro) Following options Option 1 - Costliest most reliable Victron Multi 5KVA /48 - with REC BMS ( cost with Contactor, software etc almost 900 Euro) Option 2 - Axpert 5KVA - Coulomb's firmware patched - Which BMS ??? have not found any third party which will work with Axpert yet via serial port Option 3 - use a generic BMS to switch off the battery on extreme low/high voltage with the contractor and use additional BMV 702 relay to switch off Axpert load through a power contactor on low SOC say 20 % ( my loads are backed by the generator i…

  23. Good day, While doing some research into alternative ways to store extra solar energy and then subsequent research into compressed air energy storage I happened to stumble across the below website. Their claims of "90% round trip efficiencies" is quite impressive but I am also skeptical due to the generally low efficiency of most other CAES'. Has anyone had any experience with them or know if their claims have any validity? Link to page - https://www.recor.co.za/power-storage-compressed-air- Thanks in advance!

Morning Everyone, I have 4x Pylontechs setup in parallel. Confused, the DIP switches. Getting conflicting answers on what the settings should be. Should they all be on same (say 1st switch up and others down, and the same for all 4). Thanks, Jeroen
