@Scubadude, i have my geysers, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, pool pump on non essentials ( between ct clamp and inverter ) and all works well, my total load so far this month is about 400 kWh and bought from grid is 20 kWh, this is with the Limit To Load NOT ticked, that is 95% self consumption.

Think we should leave it as the difference between Deye and Sunsynk and I don't profess to know anything about Deye

  • I guess I don't get why it is external.  Current Transformers are installed on all inverters (and UPS for that matter) but they typically housed internal to the device.  Since the device can't control

You may have a good point.  Deye makes it simple "Zero Export to CT" cannot be misinterpreted. Apologies if I raised your blood pressure.

Does  anyone know if there is a wireless Ct clamp for the Sunsync inverter? My Energi do a wireless version. Not sure if compatible.

It’s just hardwiring the install is going to be difficult due to location.

wireless would never work as the signal cant travel fast enough to do the precise work required of the CT. You can extent the ct coil wire with a Lan cable.

I also saw a video where Keith from Sunsynk said wireless will not work. I used normal flat twin (2.5mm2 x 2 + earth) to extend the wires. My ct is about 25 meter away from  the inverter and it also works fine. It might be a bit overkill but it works.

In Keith's training video (March '21) he mentions that Sunsynk has a wireless CT in the pipeline, despite the speed issues.

Issue has been sorted, there was a relay on the essential DB that was the problem. CT coil has to point towards the DB and inverter. On the 5kw, ins 3 and 4 are used for the coil. System is running well.

A few pages ago someone said the arrow on the CT must point towards the grid... on this page I'm hearing towards the inverter. Shouldn't it just point in the direction of normal incoming power flow (I.e. from the grid towards the DB and inverter if installed anywhere just after the utility power cable enters the building)?

Also, I notice people referring to direction but giving no context as to where you have placed it in your example.

I have a problem at a client site with a 8KW Sunsync where the CT coil only display zero Watt on display. It does not display the set trickle 50W setting. It was working well since January. The customer did change settings but it boggles me now that I can’t get the ct coil reading, this is still the older software version that I recall was a bit tricky to set but it did work pretty well up to now, And ct coil is on 5&6, what am I missing could there be issues in software?

Work Mode 1 and 2 are both used for Hybrid or Grid-tied, the one is a timer where you instruct the inverter how it should treat the battery, the other covers things like whether or not you export to grid, grid trickle feed and how it uses solar output.

The CT's arrow points towards the grid, but you can confirm by looking at your information screen, if the CT value is mostly negative, your CT is installed the wrong way, flip it around.

It is very important to ensure that the battery has comms with the inverter. Check the LibBMS setup screen, if you are getting values from the battery (charge rate, discharge rate, SoC etc.) then it's good, if not, sort out the comms.

When I watched a video today on this by Keith from sunsynk he shows the CT coil arrow must point towards the inverter 

 

The installer manual is not very good in my view around this

Hi I suspect my CT is not installed correctly. My prepaid meter shows the correct grid usage, but the inverter (and SolarAssistant app) shows the incorrect readings. If you add Grid + Load it equals the correct figure for actual grid usage. In my mind the Grid usage should be = Load - Solar production? At the moment my grid usage readings are only about half of the actual usage. Anyone got a solution to this?

Hi All,

Can somebody explain as to why my CT coil reading is so high on Sunsynk 8KW. Installer says it’s normal but looking though some videos, the watts supposed to match the grid wattage. 

CT: 30000+ watts

@JustinSchoeman @Martinvbiljon the Sunsynk manual specifically says the arrow on the CT has to point towards the inverter. I went and checked and official videos posted by Keith from Sunsynk on their website also says to point towards the inverter. 

Are you sure yours is pointing toward the grid?

Deye manual definitely says towards the grid.  Perhaps sunsynk swaps the wires to the inverter.

Earliest Sunsynk manuals probably had the best solution. Ignore arrows and colours - just clip it on and connect it. Turn everything on, and make sure you are drawing power from the grid. Check the measurement, and if it is negative, swap the wires around...

Solis is also towards the grid. But the negative sign will show if right or wrong.

I see that you have used the split phase setup for you CT coils.

Can i use the same setup with a 8.8kva sunsynk installed on a 3 phase supply?

Use 2 ct's from different phases into the inverter so i can get load measurements from 2 phases to distribute sola to non essential loads?

Hi All

So in my infinite wisdom managed to damage my CT coil that came with my Deye Inverter (don't ask how) ... where on earth can I find a replacement clamp ... its 100A/50ma ... all the electronics shops I've tried in Cape Town don't sell them ... the only type I could find is 100A/1v which I cannot tell if it is compatible.

Hi Harry, is there a reason the arrow should face the grid when Kenith with Sunsynk videos says that it should face the DB board. "It should follow the flow of the current" Please give some clarity here?

Search for the Solis CT. Not sure about the 100A/1V spec as a CT spec is A/A. The normal Solis is also 100A primary. Not sure about the secondary.

Just check the spec sheet for the coil ratio and adjust it on the inverter settings to match.
