I'm looking for an inverter (without solar) that is to be used for load shedding and power cuts. I want to ensure that my devices (fridge, TVs, computers, consoles) stay on and don't get damaged. The Kodak King with UPS states the following: "Kodak's King Off-Grid inverter is perfect for areas where grid electricity is less stable because it produces smooth 230V AC at all times, whether the grid is available or not. This is great for efficient running of appliances, but crucial for an uninterrupted supply for important loads such as servers or ATMs. Robust UPS (uninterrupted power supply) for essential loads with zero transfer time" Is this …

Hi All I want to keep some video surveillance and processing gear hooked up 24/7. Base load is about 700W with ancillary peaks at some 1kVA-1.5kVA max, though it could be capped at 1kVA. I would like to have the system to be able to survive an outage for up 4-6 hours, obviously during the daytime a solar setup would help and because the base load is fairly constant +/- 100VA the solar panels seem to make sense. Any suggestions? Hybrid MPPT inverter and battery/BMS or all in one hybrid inverter? I was thinking whether one 5kW Pylontech battery or similar would be a good starting point though lead acid would likely also work, just be a lot heavier. The k…

So I am busy investigating which lithium iron batteries to go for of course you have the PylonTech and then I see other brands out there like Hubble (not heard of them) and some others. What I really want is the least amount of issues with batteries and the best performance. The pricing seems to be in the same range with these brands. Wanted to ask out of experience which ones are recommended I would want to go for 4.x KW batteries at a time.

Hi all, I am new on the forum. I have been reading many of the posts on the forum and found them very informative. I want to put together a basic backup power system. Have looked at an option with a 3kw Growatt 48v inverter combined with a Shoto 2.4kwh lithium battery, or to keep it simple and perhaps something I can re-use later when I eventually go the full solar route, a Mecer Hybrid 1200 W inverter combined with a Mecer 12V lithium battery. The latter, although 12V, could be used in the caravan later when I eventually upgrade to a full solar system. I don't plan to add any solar panels, but may do so if I moved the Mecer inverter to the caravan later on. Ul…

Hi all, I am new to all this, so I would appreciate some guidance. Just moved into a new house and it came with these three UPS systems. Each one has 2 x 105 AH batteries and the inverters are 600w, 1000w and 1200w. Wife isn't keen on the boxes being inside the house and the inverters are pretty noisy when they come on. I would like to move to a central system in the garage (where the db board is). Are 6 x 105 AH batteries enough to provide backup for the whole house, for a 2.5 hour load shedding situation? I don't expect to be using the oven or air conditioners. The house also has prepaid electricity and we seem to be averaging 15 units a day. If thes…

Hi - does anyone have experience using one of these? https://www.earthwiseproducts.co.uk/solic-200/ I would like to use this to divert excess PV energy to my geyser, which will be on a non-essential circuit. In addition, I plan on using my geyser wise controller to "top-up" to a minimum temperature when there isn't enough excess PV. Any flaws in this plan?

Hi Here is my question, it will be a bit of a long story but will try keep it as short as I can. I currently have a 1.2Kw Hoymiles (Ellies) micro-inverter setup. This has 4 330w panels connected and I can, on good days get close to the max capacity. I installed this about 1.5 years ago just to try and lower the monthly bill. It does a nice job but is nowhere near enough power to make a significant dent to the electricity bill. Now what I am thinking and wanting to see what other forum members might do, is this. Should I get another 2x 1.2Kw micro inverters and another 8 panels, add this to my system and I would have a max capacity of 3.6kw, which should cov…

While I was initially more interested in getting a basic set up in our house which could potentially be used later with solar panels, the property owner (my brother) now seems less than keen for us (and by us I mean me since I am happy to pay) to drop 75k+ on a solution. At the end of the day it is his house, so I can't really force the issue (although hopefully load shedding will get worse and he'll change his mind). That being said, assuming we have load shedding stage 2 for the foreseeable future, I would love to be able to keep my gaming PC online. We currently already have an Ultralan Micro UPS for our networking hardware (it's brand new so barely drops 1…

By January 2008 we realised that we are in for serious loadshedding in the long term. I then knocked together a little UPS with a 1500Watt pure sine wave inverter, charger and two 105A.hr batteries. That was before LED lights and batteries in garage door openers and gates. It served us very well until 2012 when we built a new house and wired it for having a UPS. Essentially we have 2meters of cabtyre coming out of the wall in the garage with a blue standard 3pin plug top (like the plug end of an extension cord). This is connected to all the consumers needing UPS during loadshedding. The plug can go into a generator, an inverter or into a nearby standard outlet point. But …

Whats the difference in terms of performance between the following two off-grid systems 3kva system with 4x365w Solar panels , 3kva inverter and a 24v 200ah lithium ion battery And 5kva system with 4x365w panels 5kva inverter and a 48v 100AH lithium ion battery assuming assuming the loads are the same. Thanks

Good morning Guys, I am about to install a Victron Multiplus ii 5Kva - 48V (Clients Choice) and 2x Pylontech Lithium-ion Batteries 2.4. Is there any certain setting required for the Pylontech batteries..? and the inverter..? And any other gadgets required to run the system smoothly. Is it necessary to install a Change Over switch, Surge Protection Etc.? Or any other valuable information will be highly appreciated. This system will be used solely for Load Shedding purposes, 2x A/C Unit…

Morning, I am a pensioner living in Betty's Bay Western Cape Two years ago I installed an Axpert 5Kw inverter, 3 Canadian 330W panels, combiner box, 4 x 12V 260Ah SonX RA12-260D batteries and all the requires cross over switches myself. The system worked fine, the only complaint I have is the beeping at sundown and sunset when it switches solar on and off, If I switch off then I can't hear problem beeps. I live alone and I wanted lights, TV and coffee machine to work. We often have power failures, so I wired the whole house through the inverter, if I happen to have something in the oven I can finish cooking. I doubt I ever used more than 30% I have just s…
