Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Hi I am having trouble configuring my Goodwe system to get my batteries charged up to 95% and up. Has anyone out there got lead acid batteries connected to the Goodwe GW5048D-ES? I have 2 strings of batteries with 4 batteries in a string. In total a 48 Volt system. They are 230 amp FNB batteries. See pic. Anyone got an idea on how to overcome this? Please see my PV Master settings. Thanks!

Hi. I am a noob looking for some advice please. I have a Must 5kva inverter connected to 4x 200ah lead acid batteries and 6x 260w panels (3x3). The batteries don't last on a full cloudy day so I would like to be able to charge the batteries through a 4kva generator if possible but at the moment the inverter seems to draw too much power for the gennie to cope. The inverter keeps switching from grid to offline mode. At the moment the grid charge is set to 30 amps. My question is, can I reduce this to 20 amps to see if the gennie will handle it better and will that be enough amps to charge the batteries in a reasonable time? Thanks

Morning All Does anyone know of a link to the latest firmware for the Axpert 5kVA / PIP 4048 ? I have spent a significant amount of time searching the Internet without success. I have 72.70 but would like to test a newer version. Garth

OK, so I was not aware that the Goodwe 5048ES receives OTA firmware updates. A day or 2 ago I was reading here on FW updates and came upon the dropbox download link - this is when I checked my firmware version 141406 - there were updates but I decided to not fix it if it aint broken .. 🐥🐥 Today the inverter reboot - after checking all the settings and data, I saw the firmware was updated to ver 171709. No idea what changes were made though.

Hi all, I am taking the next step and installing a second Axpert MKS 5kw inverter to be in parallel with my existing one. Both have cards but not sure of the cables I need, or for that matter the ins and outs of setting them up. I have 20x 265 watt panels in 5 strings of 4 giving approx 135vdc input with two 7.4kw mypower lifepo batteries. Must I split the panels and the batts into two or what is the config? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Rgds Tony [email protected]

  7. Hi all A few weeks ago I bought an Axpert King 5KW now on paper it has a lot going for it with the lithium bms connection(not working yet hopefully it will be enabled with the next firmware update) and the grid assist function 4Kw PV and can be paralleled. I went for the king as I liked the idea of the "grid assist" function. So that the grid can make up any short fall in solar production and have batteries for backup. However what I have noticed is when ever the grid is connected to the load even if its not actually supplementing at the time there is a constant 280W to 300W being drawn from the supply. this works out to roughly 7kwh per day!! Now this extra load doe…

Hello! I have 5X 5kVA axpert inverters connected in parallel (1 master and 4 slaves) running a PV home solar system with batteries. When the AC in is off the system is operating well with the inveters' output frequency of 50 Hz, but when the AC in is switched on, the inverters' frequency suddenly drops to 40 Hz and when i switch off 3 inverters the frequency peaks to 49.6 Hz and this is an issue because the grid frequency is 50 Hz. Any idea what could be the issue here, please help?

  9. Hi, hopefully someone can assist or confirm an issue that I am seeing.. I replaced a Must 5 KVA inverter with an Axpert II 5 KVA a few weeks ago, the old inverter operated in solar mode and the battery charging was set for solar first. I have two other inverters running like this and it works perfectly. The new Axpert if set into Solar mode always seems to draw about 400-800 watts off the grid, even on a hot day in full sun. If I change the setting to SBU I can see the PV input spikes up to 1000 watts and the draw of the grid drops to 32 watts. SBU is not what I want to run though because when the sun gets low the unit switches between grid/battery/solar until t…

My turn for a question. Another forum member has asked me to look at some specs. He his looking for a True Hybrid Axpert. I cant seem to find any prove that such a model do exist. I have heard stories that they do. Anyone that has first hand experience, please advice? @Coulomb.. do you know of one?

Hi All, I am looking to go "off-grid" and am considering a system consisting of 36 x 330W Canadian Solar 3 x Axpert 5kVA inverters in parallel single phase mode 8 x Pylontech 3.5 kWh batteries (may be expanded later) 1 x 5 kW MAC-AFRICA 6.5 kVA Standby Silent Diesel Generator 220 V (for the no-sunshine days) The bit that I most need help on is the Axpert inverters. Specifically: 1. When connected in parallel, do they really act as a single unit: Are all PV panel outputs connected together, or is a third connected to each inverter? Are all the loads connected together, or is one third connected to each inverter? …

Hi all, I use the QPIGS command from Python to monitor my Mecer (Axpert) 3kVA 24V inverter from a Raspberry Pi. Currently I leave it in SENS mode in the settings so that it only fully turns on the inverter when a load is detected. If the load is over about 100W then this works fine and it turns on, however anything less than this and it won't turn on. Is there a way to turn it on for lighter loads without going through the settings using the buttons on the front and switching it to SDS (I think that's the other value)? I was hoping maybe I could use a command in Python from the Raspberry Pi and then trigger the script from my phone. Thanks.

  13. Hello My father in law Solar is using Axpert 5Kw inverter. Once in a while the PV side just stops charging. The supplier supplied me with new firmware. Looking a the file supplied, it looks like it is version 74.40 (Folder name in Zip file is AxpertMKS5K74.40P) Anyone know of any potential issues upgrading from 72.20 to 74.40? Thanks

Hi everyone I'm hoping someone here can assist me with 2 annoying problems I'm having. I'm running a 2.5kwh and 3.5kwh pylontech battery on my Goodwe ES inverter (4.6kw) with firmware 5171708. Problem 1: The continuous discharge of the batteries is meant to be 62 amps with a max of around 124 amps. For some reason, I can only ever draw 50 amps from them (2.5kw). Apparently this is due to the inverter limiting the draw from the batteries to 80% of the 62 amps. However, the 62 amps is the 'stable' current so why must it restrict it even further. Is there any setting on PVmaster I can edit to force the inverter to pull 62 amps? Is there anything …

  15. Greetings, Can 3 * 5kW Axpert inverters in 3-phase parallel configuration (total 15kW) start a 9.3kW/12.5HP 415VAC 3-phase submersible well pump? I've not gotten to measure the pump's inrush current but it's a typical multistage centrifugal pump with an asynchronous squirrel cage motor manufactured by Silver Pumps & Motors (India). NB: The housing complex cannot increase installed capacity of the water storage tank hence the need for at least 2 hours power backup in lieu of a diesel standby generator set.

Hi I arrived home Yesterday at around 4pm just to find that my inverters 2 x MKSII 5-48 running in parallel had shut down at approximately 10am with buzzers beeping continuously and Red alarm LED burning. The error message number displayed was "72" (Not indicated in the user manual) and the current onboard inverter firmware is version 71.50. Can someone please shed some light on what this error message number means thanks Paul

Hi I have installed 2 Axpert MKSII 5-48 inverters and have set them up to run in parallel. Each inverter has a single string of 6x 330W Canadian solar PV panels (CS6U-P) connected in series with a VOC of 45.6V per PV panel so a total of 12 panels. Further to this I have a battery bank of 4x Narada 48NPFC50 Lithium ion polymer 50Ah units also connected in parallel as battery backup for night time use so a total of 200Ah. I generally do not have the utility connected to the system so the system runs off the grid. The problem I have comes from the charging of the batteries which takes place during the day via the inverters. The charging voltage is set up at 51.6V …

Hi, My system has been acting strange since yesterday, ESS is using much more than my grid setpoint, while my battery is 100% charged and throttling my East String. No errors or anything, I have also restarted the Venus with no luck. Any ideas? The only difference with this MPPT is that it is connected via USB to the Venus. Was fine up untill 11:19, then just dropped again. Yesterday similar behaviour at around 12.

  19. I am using Axpert VM 3.2 under brand name Inverex in Pakistan, it worked without any issue for the first year, I have four 330 watt Trina Tall solar panels connected pair of panels in series then these 2 pairs connected in parallel with inverter so it match the inverter specs. I had no issue for one year but one day I found out that 0 watts are coming out of solar so I reported the issue to the local company from where I bought it, they said inverter has some issue in its Solar Controller and repaired it. Then after 1 week of repair I felt burning smell coming out of inverter, the inverter was gone. I again took it to local company this time they replaced the whole b…

I have a 4.6KW Solis grid tied inverter. It has a WiFi dongle and logs events to https://m.ginlong.com. I want to log locally so I can manipulate the data for HA for I can control things e.g like Sonoff devices. Solar software developers have been ignoring my requests to do any work or adding the Solis device to the list of devices ,so I am attempting this with HA. My attempt to log to a local syslog server has failed.Ginlong dot com has no info regarding logging except to their site. There are many users out there using Solis according to the Ginlong site.Anyone else configured and running a local syslog server?

  22. Is it possible for an Axpert MKS II to mix/blend solar and AC input for AC output? Always thought this was not possible. I know VM III can. How are these guys achieving it: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/content/11-axpert-voltronics-power-use

  25. Started by Ackim,

I need some advice. I have installed a 24v 3kva mecer Axpert -MKS inverter on line. I have connected 250Ah (10h) gel batteries that can go as low as 1.55 V/Cell (which translates to 18.6v) during discharge. This is according to the battery specifications. However, the inverter is set to only go down to 20v minimum. So my system switches off prematurely whilst the batteries still have capacity. But I am unable to set the inverter to the 18.6v. May someone please assist.
