Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Started by DaveP,

An interesting problem I have come up against. I have a client that is looking at replacing their current UPSs (with VRLA batteries) at a number of their sites with Inverter/Lithium battery systems. We have a solutions for majority of the sites, however there are 2 sites the UPSs that have a 3-phase input going to a single-phase output. Would one be able to parallel inverters (e.g. Victron, Axpert, etc.) so that they except a 3-phase input but output to single-phase? This would be preferable for the client as opposed to rewiring the DB to accomodate. Thanks in advance

  2. Helping out my uncle with picking an solar inverter, his municipality does Not allow net-metering/sending electricity back to the grid. However, he wants to mix-match electricity e.g. If the load is 4KW and 5KW solar is only making 2KW then remaining load (2KW) should come from the grid AND Batteries should only be used when Grid is down (i.e. last option to tap). My understanding is that this happens in a Grid-Tie inverter But axperts are classifieds as Off-Grid and there is no information regarding grid-tie on voltronic's website as well. I contacted a local installer, who did my install as well and is quite informative, but he said that Axpert do support Grid-shar…

  5. Hey Wonder if anyone can help here? I just installed a new Sunsynk 8kw with pylontech Up5000 batteries. With my last inverter I was able to see how long I had on battery discharge till I hit a certain percentage, mine was 20%. This is a nice feature to see how much battery life you still have at the current discharge rate. I don't see anything similar on the Sunsynk app or inverter? When the battery is discharging you have no idea how long you have till the battery turns off at 20% SOC.

Hi all, Elsewhere I discuss what I thought was battery degradation on my system (Goodwe ES and Revov batteries). The battery manufacturer has visited twice and says the batteries are OK, for now, but the settings on the Goodwe are wrong and the batteries will get damaged in future and it will not be their fault. The Goodwe is set to BYD B-BOX Pro 10.0. Revov have given me the settings to use. Notably 1V lower on the charge voltage and about 30A less on the charge current. The only way to get these settings into place is to use the Goodwe self-define mode. I use that and the inverter very quickly starts reporting that there are no comms between the inv…

Synsynk 5kw inverter is switching the non essential circuits on and off all the time, sometimes the power to the essential circuit is off but mostly the inverter keeps switching the grid signal for relay on and off, and then the screen shows 0kw input from grid but the non essential circuits run fine no power cut to them. I did have a lightning strike 3 days ago and then this started

Hi all, I've recently had a Sunsynk 5KW and Hubble AM2 system installed in my garage. Will add solar at a later stage when budget allows but for now this is just providing backup power for essential circuits. Couple of questions: The inverter was bough in the middle of last year so the software probably needs an update. Is upgrading firmware recommended? Currently on the following: Protocol Version: V0.2.0.1 HMI: VE.4.1.7 MAIN_1: V2.1.5.9 It's been warm in CPT the past few days and the garage isn't exactly cool (probably need an extraction fan) but the inverter is pretty warm (around 30 degrees) and the fan…

Hi all. I have a fairly new PV system installed and was hoping someone could give me some guidance and good advice. My setup consists of 2x 5.5kw Axpert MKSii inverters in parallel, 14 450w panels (7 to each inverter) and 2x 4.8kw lithium batteries in parallel. System settings are as follows: Priority SBU Bulk Charge voltage 51.6v Float voltage 51.5v Low voltage (return grid) 48.2v Low voltage cutoff 46.4v AC charge current …

Hello guys, I'm new around here and I've been reading the forum for a while now. Sorry If my English is not perfect. I'm building my own house, and I am completely off grid therefore 100% dependent on my solar system. That beeing said I have 8 x 545w panels Axpert max 7200 inverter 8x 250ah batterys Hyunday diesel generator as backup. What is happening to me is that in order for the automatic startup of the generator works, the inverter have to be in SBU mode. But in SBU mode the charging of the batteries work very bad, or don't work at all which cause the generator to stay on for long periods. …

I am having endless poblems with a 3kva 48V Growatt, connected up as battery backup only, no panels. First the inverter malfunctioned about a month after being installed. Was working perfectly fine before that. No changes were made. It was send back to the importer/supplier who informed me that the motherboard was damaged and therefore the warranty is null and void. I accepted this as a power surge was very possible, although all the protection was in place and functioning. I gave the go-ahead for them to repair the inverter. They sent the inverter back and it kept giving a 0 output. I sent it back to the importers who could find no fault. Again wa…

  15. Hi all, Looking to replace my Axpert 5kVA with something a bit more feature-rich. Setup is currently 9 x 330W panels, 1 x Pylontech 3000B, looking to add a 3000C to that. At the very least I want: - direct connection to Pylontech BMS for accurate battery SOC readings (not like Axpert's let's-guess-based-on-voltage algorithm) - ability to set SOC thresholds for switching to battery / grid - ability to view metrics remotely like current consumption/production - ability to set time windows when unit should switch to grid Nice to have is ability to connect secondary loads like pool pump that would use excess power when battery SO…

  16. Long story short, I have a 3kW Growatt Inverter, 2 x 200AH Lead Acid Gel batteries and 3 x 330W Canadian solar panels. The people who installed my system did not quite know what they were doing and this became evident when they procduced a COC without any labels or blanking plates on the DB boards. The settings on the inverter were mostly left defualt and I familirised myself with the various options. About 2 months in, I started to have issues where the inverter would switch between the utility power and battery every few minutes (only at night when the solar was not carrying the load), with the lights in the house flickering every time. I changed the 3rd opti…

Hello all, Need to make a decision on between the Mecer 5kVA/5kW PF1 64V Charger/ 48V DC MPPT Solar Charger Controller Model: SOL-I-AX-5P64 and "The SunPays" branded 5.5Kw inverter, https://shop.thesunpays.co.za/collections/axpert-inverters/products/5-5kva-5-5kw-100a-axpert-type-pure-sine-wave-inverter-high-voltage There is plenty user info on the Mercer but not much on the The SunPays unit. I know this unit cannot be paralleled up , but this does not concern me. 18. Hi all Does anyone know what the latest Sunsynk 5kW firmware version is? I can't find that info anywhere on the Sunsynk website. Am hoping that one of our Sunsynk experts (maybe @Leshen 😉) might be able to help. Am currently running COMM: e419 - MCU: 3162 Thanks in advance

Hi Guys. Off grid application Bushveld. Thabazimbi The Axpert inverter is dropping generator AC supply when load picks up. Also when charging batteries the Inverter ramps up amps till limit is reached and then after 2-5minutes drops again. Then starts over. I have fiddled with as much settings as I can but cannot get the Axpert to stay on Gen supply with loads or charging. Gen is diesel 12KVA 1500rpm 233v 52.5Hz, doesn't seem to be any harmonics. In a profile post by @jussclay: I've not seen an error 06. It happens when in battery mode the inverter output voltage is 20 V over the nominal voltage for 10 "ticks". A tick is 1/50th of a second, or 20 ms, so it's allowed to go over for 180 ms, but not 200 ms. The nominal voltage is usually 230 VAC, but can be set to 220 V or 240 V with the undocumented POPV command. This is an actual fault code, not merely a warning, meaning that the inverter is in Fault mode (as opposed to battery or line modes, there are a few others). In fault mode, the inverter doesn't do much, and in my experience usually shuts down completely (even the LCD light goes off and the proc…
